Yeah... Can't do anything since it's already recorded. But since everyone's timing is 5 minutes plus difference, so I guess it's standard. As long you know your own timing, that's good enough. Look forward.

Well done sfax. You really have strong mental to run on a treadmill for that long. I actually waited for you this morning. Did an easy 15K. But since you didn't show up after 10 minutes, we went ahead. By the way, I have read that treadmill distance normally show further. Please take note on this.

d3vilzzzz: Good enough based on your standards. Keep it up and soon your legs, joints, heart ad lungs will be much stronger. Remember, patience will one day pay off. And I actually saw you. Your clothing looks like a tri-suit.

meatball88: Polar is certainly the leading brand when it comes to HRM. However, it also comes with a heavy price tag. There's another brand call Mio which is strapless. http://www.miowatch.com It's good to have a HRM, but you will soon learn how to read your HR after wearing it a few times. So my advice is, don't buy one that's too expensive. And with the exchange rate now, things at Singapore is no longer cheap.

Syd G: Be patience. Report halfway done.
meatball88: Hey... That's a very good timing. Well done! sfax: Don't worry too much as it's your first marathon. And you clocked a very respectable time for a marathon debut. I'm really proud of you. *I can't imagine you taking your gel while you're doing your business. One side in, another out. Yucks* |

I left my pair of legs at PutraJaya. Arghhh... Damn painful! Long distance walking is even worst than marathon running.

vin_ann: Yes, I do take supplements and Glucosamine is one of them. It's good to take even if one doesn't have problems with the knee. It's for maintanence. Go for low dosage and also consult your doctor first though.

meatball88: Myself and ccube has ran in this year's edition. To answer your question:
1) 4 pedestrian bridges. More or less the same as the one in KL, but much cleaner and don't have any "chip away" cement. Mixture of stairs and ramps. 2) I guess the bridges refers to the pedestrian bridge. 3) Route is generally flat. However you have to run on a mixture of concrete, sand (Bedok Reservoir) and tarmac throughout the course. Not forgetting the parks around the HDB flats which is winding and tilting to one side. The end is an uphill climb follow by a short hill burst to the finish line via crossing a narrow 1 lane bridge. |

Yeah, it's dark but won't be so dark until you fall into a hole. Just be careful when running through darken areas as shortly, you will be back under the street lights. It's Singapore! I suggest you bring along a small water bottle like those mineral water type for the first 10KM, then to be thrown away to avoid congestion at the water stations during the early stages of the race.

Congratz to lexan and vin-ann on a good run at the Malakoff 12KM. Although GPS reading shows only 11.1KM, I believe it's the furthest you guys ran. And to lexan, great to meet you.
sfax: Take it easy from now on. No harm or shame in skipping races. Get your injury cured first. Not to scare you, but as Wan said, ITB injury isn't an injury to be mess with. |

tenno:If your body fat is twice as mine, I guess that's pretty all right as mine is very low. Acceptable for a guy. And do not forget, that you are very into weight lifting while I am more into running although I still do weight lifting although not as much to maintain my muscle strenghts. Running doesn't really need a light or slim body although it is a bonus to have one. Our friend toto4d here is huge too and he can run very well. Probably when you 2 stand beside me, I'll be a potato. By the way, you can always have a home-gym. Try out the reisstance band. It's a really good workout tool.

marvinct: Welcome to the thread and also the the world of running.
Tempo run is is running at a pace that you are comfortable at but yet still your body still produces lactic acid at the same time. I recommend it do be done at a 70% from your Max Heart Rate and in a minimum time of an hour. The benefits is that you will be able to run and last longer with substential trainings as tempo runs is aimed at building endurance. |

marvinct: To know your Maximum Heart Rate (MHR), the most common formula is 220 - Your age. Why 220? Cause that's the average heart rate when we all come out of our mother's womb.
Example. Your age is 20 yers old. MHR - 220-20=200. Therefore, your MHR is 200. Get 70% out of there as I recommended for tempo pace. |
