well done to all who ran the GE race be it 20k or 30k. the route was tough as i said coupled with the sun rising up so early in the morning. doesnt help much but made it tougher with the heat. but i believed we all survived and finished the race. as for me i came back with an expected timing which i was indeed happy about. pacing myself well was the main thing and also knowing the route before hand helps a lot.

QUOTE(JML @ Jan 20 2009, 11:25 PM)
heya ccube,

just started running second half of last year.. and i wear Adiprene shoes which i have had since prolly 2004
i read from this forum Adiprene was suppose to be able to absorb shock
adiPRENE : is highly shock absorbent material that cushions and protect your heel at impact.

but after i run (slow) for about half an hour, my knee started to pain. could it be not enough cushion in my shoes? or cuz they're pretty much dead. 2004 shoes liao..

i'm interested to get new pair of Saucony jazz 12.. i live and work in kota kemuning. possible to meet up and try it? thx
*
JML, Adiprene shoes just do what you have mentioned. But I think since ur shoes is 2004, the cushioning is dead (as you said). You can used it for walking NOT running. Your knee pain is probably due to the impact creating the pressure and goes up to your knee since the shoe is not absorbing it. BTW which Adidas model you are using now.

The Jazz 12 is a neutral cushioning shoe, so if you are a normal arch and neutral runner then the model will fit well. Its good to do a wet test if you are not too sure what kind of feet you are having. Wet test ie go wet both your feet and step on a piece of newspaper. From the water mark we are able to tell your foot type. This will ensure you dont buy the wrong type of shoes.

If you are interested to try out Jazz 12 and other models, we can always meet on Sat at Lake Gardens and this have to be after the CNY holidays. I can be contacted at 0193289083 or cchoi_2020@yahoo.com

shocking.gif Wah..30%... not bad leh...  drool.gif   besides NewBalance shoe, what are the other shoe model available?  hmm.gif   Anyone use Newton running shoe before?  any reviews?  blink.gif
*
I am offering 40% on Saucony. Newton is a shoe meant for forefoot runners ie those landing at the front of their feet. If u r not a forefoot runner than Newton is not the shoe for you.

Brooks and Mizuno..me nvr a big fan..but I cannot judge coz nvr try before sad.gif

O hey what upcoming races are there besides the Zoo Negara run?

KL standard chartered marathon? adidas KOTR?
*
how was ur feet on sunday run. anymore blisters. besides the jazz 12 u r using can try out Triumph 5 which is a better cushion shoe. or if u need some stability then hurricane 10.

Me question was meant like as in events we can register for already smile.gif I know nb15k can edi
Harlo tongue.gif

Believe or nt hving run 20km, I had NO blisters..Not even any HOT spots..
I think this is a GOOD start too the many competetions ahead!

Body Glide is defnitely good stuff..

Which would you recomend? triumph (would appreciate the cushioning) or the hurricane10(help me stabilize me flat feet)?
*
Very good news for you then. The days of BLISTER is gong away. Looks like the combination formula of Body Glide + Injinji is solving your problems. Now you can forgot abt that and focus on how to run longer and faster.

If I will to choose and advise based on your body structure and feet bio-mechanics, Hurricane 10 is more suitable for you as it has the same cushioning quality of a Triumph 5 but with additional stability

yeah, haven been running since GE until last friday.
no pain (walking) during the 2 weeks except for coming down the stairs. any idea?
*
ur knees shud not have the pain by now after 2 weeks of rest. try to take note if there is any swell around your knee area. could be due to inflammation of the knee muscle. the muscles cud be over stressed and need longer rest.

hello guys i am picking up jogging and i wanna compete!  icon_rolleyes.gif so any pointers on what to do/eat/buy to run long distances? btw the saucony shoes ccube recommendedd me last year, how long do they last?
*
take it slowly and increase the distance and intense phase by phase. if you cannot run the full distance eg 5k or 8k or 10k, then adopt the run/walk technique. eating breakfast is important especially on a longer run in the morning. a cup of oats will be fine, or a piece of bread together with liquid food. most important is eat what you are comfortable with. as for the shoes in general it will last about 6 - 8 months but again it can be very subjective due the mileage one puts in plus the running style of every individual. it also depends if you are just wearing one pair or alternating it with another pair. its always good to have an alternate pair, so that your shoes can be rested after some intense workout. all these contributes to the life span of the shoe. btw, which model of Saucony shoe did you bought from me
