Haven't seen 2.0, so I can't comment much. But from what I gathered from the Japs, Asuka will contribute more in movie 3 and 4, since she now has no Eva. Mari is still a mystery, but might be the key to the difference between the adaptation. Rei and Kaworu will be the focal point of 3 and 4 tho, so Shinji's story might end sooner

But man.... eyepatch Asuka feels like a total homage to the RE-TAKE version of her... which was modelled after her last appearance in EoE. Oh well, we'll see when 3.0 and 4.0 is out. |

I think Mari is the replacement for Asuka part in the previous series since Asuka role is different in the Remade series.

Define replacement. I don't see her filling what Asuka did in the TV series. Unless they have Mari and Shinji doing syncronised dancing to the tune of "Dance Like You're going to win" in the next movie
