So guys, how was Evangelion 2.0 for you? I just came back from /AS/ gath to watch at Cineleisure and I gotta say I truly enjoyed every moment of the movie.... except perhaps the final part where they cut off Shinji's epic scene because Rei got nipples. God damn you censorship board!

But really the whole movie really exceeded my expectations. The Angels looked really out of this world and the characters sure have changed a lot this time round. I went in expecting to go "F**k yeah, Asuka", but I went "F**k yeah, Shinji" more, lol. Really makes me wonder how 3.0 and 4.0 are going to be like.

Really want to rewatch it again, but don't feel it's worth it for the epic cut at the end. Oh well, Blu-Ray is coming on May 26th! Guess I'll just have to be patient till then.

But I will agree that the Rebuild versions of the trio are a lot more human this time around.

Where got lah. Shinji finally tapped in to his Spiral power and used it to kick the 10th's a** and save Rei at the same time while pulling off a BIG DAMN HEROES moment.

Fan pressure. If they kill her off, half of the old fanbase will rebel against Anno.

Also, Asuka isn't *less* tsundere, I'd say she's *more* like a tsundere now. Original Asuka was pretty much tsun-tsun-tsun to everyone. At least movie Asuka had dere moments.

Well Anno did say this Rebuild project is to make Evangelion more accessible to normal anime fans. So that's probably why Shinji has more of a backbone this time round.

Admitedly, though, I miss the mindf**k of the original series.

Vatican treaty is definitely new in this series.

Original TV series only had EVA's up to 04. 00, 01, 02 are the usual suspects, 03 evaporized in an S2 experiment, 04 turned in to an Angel. 05-13 was mentioned but only appeared in EoE as the mass-production types.

So yes, this time, there's more Eva's (thanks to bigger budget). Not sure if the mass-production types will make another appearance. 08 kinda reminds me of an mobile armor, LOL.

Not really. EoE and 25-26 can be said as complementary, but also contradictory. The verdict is still out on that one, until such time Anno confirms it.

We'll see how 3.0 and 4.0 wrap things up.

Yeah, kinda depends on how you really want to interpret it.

I'm actually quite a fan of the complementary theory, but the contradictory theory has some strong proofs to back them up as well. Verdict's really still out there in Anno's minds.

But really, it's this ambiguity that has led to Eva's popularity.

Yes, there was a shot in the preview of Rei with a few clones behind her. Confirmed with the *ahem* camrip.

Apparently while her tube was totalled, she wasn't. In fact you can see in Intensive Care after the incident, so it's not surprising she'll be back.

But man.... eyepatch Asuka feels like a total homage to the RE-TAKE version of her... which was modelled after her last appearance in EoE. Oh well, we'll see when 3.0 and 4.0 is out.

I guess Anno just likes "damaged goods".

Still, I guess it'll be interesting to see what he's gonna do with Shinji and Rei. For one, both of them are "stuck" in Unit-01.

And as I keep rewatching Kaworu's spearing, his.... "nuance" sounds very determined and final. Really makes one wonder why he's saying that.
