hmm wat speakers u using? all full range set to large ke? hmm but with calibration it shouldnt make much difference right? hmm weird..

yeah for astro / mkv, -5db is too loud.. but for bd.. its just right.. just to get some benchmarking here.. at -5db for me is like around 15-20% louder than a typical cinema volume for me.. how is -5db for u?
maybe that's the sign that u need to visit Yamaha showroom for at least a 3900 ? (hurry hurry,u are at KL now ) tongue.gif

Btw,with Onkyo,i crank to volume to about +62db,with celion dion,Warlord,Iron Man and TRansformer recently.Talking about IronMan,what're u guys opinion on AQ? I actually felt a bit disappointed cos the bomb and gun shot not enuf ummmmmph, surround effect is good.....( the AQ i felt like Black Hawk Down i watched last week). In term of LFE,U571 is much better then that thumbup.gif

I think he's using the "relative volume" option that is available in Onkyo. It ranges from 0 to 100dB. I think there's no " + " for this option.

And, very hard to find all diffrent brands in one shop. You have to go to different shops to audition.

adehh then it must be yamaha prob... sad.gif hehe itll soon be replaced.. now saving for notebook..

I will not say it's Yamaha's problem, but it could have something to do with the rated power output. My Yamaha 1800 was rated at 130W I think, and the 663 is even lower at 90W. And I've read that Yamaha receivers actual power output is a bit lower than their factory rated power.

Most shopping centers should have at least one good cd/dvd store eg. Plaza singapura, paragon, suntec, etc.

Maybe it's your ohms setting?

-30db , -20db. hmmm now im worried.. my bds are watched at minimum pun -5db.. all my speakers calibrated at 75db.. hmm is it yammy v663 problem?

i watch astro at -20+ hmm but for bds i prefer to go loud.. i can hear the dialogues at low vol.. but i like hearing the ambience.. hmmm confuse now..

i have small room.. so theoritically i shouldnt need such high vols.. are sound leaking? hmm my sound proofing method is gay though.. thick curtains for 50% of the room.. and my deco are all over the place to break the sound somewhat.. hahaha

Hi I am new here. I am interested to buy BD movies from Amazon US. Need to get some info from your guys experience

What is the normal shipping fees?
How long normally it takes from ordering to finally reach you
Is it safe to use CC or have to use Paypal account?
How do the package pass through Kastam (or Ketam)?
Is there any tax?

- Amazon Standard USD 4.99 (per shipment) + USD 3.99 (per BD)
- Amazon Expedited USD 13.99 (per shipment) + USD 3.99 (per BD)
- Amazon Priority USD 29.99 (per shipment) + USD 3.99 (per BD)

- Standard which takes around 17 ~ 31 days (Pos Malaysia)
- Expedited 12 ~ 19 days (Pos Laju)
- Priority 4 ~ 5 days (DHL / UPS)

- Using CC for the past 3 years, i heard pay pal got service charge (can't confirm)
- Shipment less than RM500 for safe passage (that's including shipment cost)
- If you want to take risk and kena tax. It's 30% on total cost (shipment cost + BD)

p/s : if you want to use standard shipping (which is the cheapest), make sure it's deliver to your house and "not" apartment. Cause it's uses our normal pos malaysia which they don't have any care whether your package arrives to you safely or not.

CC normally charge a bit more
eg. current USD exchange rate is 3.60 then CC will charge u 3.65

Hope this helps.. biggrin.gif

Regarding the tax rate, the latest news from forumner that it is only 10%. Arj can attest to that since he kena the 10% tax recently.

If confirm 10% then it is quite good since still quite cheap.

10% is tax. The UPS fee is RM20 only biggrin.gif

Regarding the 10% figure, I don't know weather that's the standard rate at the moment or I just got lucky there laugh.gif

Normally the rate is 30% + 10%.
