Prescott with 90nm with longer pipeline architecture, does perform similar clock to clock to Northwood. Larger L2 cache is eventually helping the preoscott to perform better in gaming. I like the advantage of it can easily clock to 3.8GHz with no sweat. But sadly today the high clock of P4 isn't able to survive well in gaming world.

Why not try to clock the CPU a bit?I think GPU demand is more crucial for this game.Your GPU is 6600GT ?

hi guyz, long time no drop in and leave a post.

I've jumped onto the vista platform on my s478. so far so smooth. drivers support is getting better for vista also. one thing i noticed compared to xp is, multitasking is smoother and applications seems to load faster. Superfetch is a great feature utilising our RAM.

As u guys know, I do lots of photoshop stuff, loading big chunks of files that sucks system resources. Using Photoshop CS4 combined with vista, it's buttery smooth, due to the use of 3D graphics accelerator and pushing data onto system RAM and VGA RAM. No more lagging zooming in and out, applying layers! Wonderful!

Ran Red Alert 3 on default medium settings, no lags also after several missions, looks good for now. Will report in when I get to use Vista on my rig for a few more days. Cheers...

Nice to hear S478 is running smooth in Vista.A bit suprise with the multitasking performance,you said it's better than XP. rclxms.gif Is it because of the HT core ? HT core VS dual core? laugh.gif

@NtahX,I guess COD needs better GC to run it. At leaast 6800GT.

@dlwl

Yea. My 1 day is 24hrs based. laugh.gif It took me 13hrs if im not mistaken. DL speed is around 100kb/s to 220kb/s depend on the seeder and leecher ratio. I could finish up a 700mb file in 1hr time provided the source is good. laugh.gif

@bai1101

Need to edit host files? blink.gif I just block the RA3 control center with firewall and don't let it to hook to internet will do already. Haha!

drool.gif So nice,i want to get a copy also. But can my 9550 play at the minimum resolution?

Yesterday i got myself another 2 pieces of 256MB Infineon DDR333 RAM. Tested with my rig,they can't work well with my Hynix RAM with o/c. to 220MHz. sad.gif The Infineon works great and able to acheive 225MHz alone. Just sad to see both RAM mix can't work properly.End up,picked out the Infineon and run with my Hynix RAM only.

Is it driver's problem? If the driver is working fine,then maybe GC is ready to "go" already.

hmm.gif  guess i would go for an ASRock MOBO if those brands are the only options ... any idea where i could get my hands on 1? sweat.gif

My current setup

P4 2.4 'Prescott' non HT
ASRock P4i65G mobo
512 Kingston DDR 400
no GC as my 5200FX burn edi, it was AGP and so is the mobo.. rclxub.gif

SO the thing is i wan to minor upgrade my system , add some ram and a decent GPU as i would want to be able 2 run games like red alert 3 n the new NFS titles with decent graphic quality.. rclxms.gif
Need recommendations to this.. nothing too expensive though around 900 budget here.. all help appreciated notworthy.gif
Oh yea, add me to the list  icon_rolleyes.gif

HAha,budget below RM100 is a bit hard to get good GC. Maybe you can get 9550/9600 only.
