Planning to sell my p4 proc and RAM to a friend, since he was using intel celeron 1.7GHz and complaint the system slow responses few months ago. Haha.

Nothing much u can do la bro.. Maybe pampered ur rigs before u sell it? Kasih cium cium & hug hug before sell lo. brows.gif Hahah.. Anyways, frankly speaking, it is quite hard for P4 to break 4Ghz on air. Unless ur extremely lucky got a super proc, otherwise.. Prepare DICE to hot ur 4.5Ghz record. laugh.gif

No lar, all are new units.

Motherboard I use ECS 7050M-M, came with Geforce 7050PV/nForce 630a chipsets, those are old model chipsets, am I right? But I think it'll serves me well.

Too bad, after install all the hardwares my XP on the same HDD won't boot. It'll keep on restarting even I've choose safe mode. Why ar? I tot the XP is supposed to automatic detect and update the hardware drivers? So I format and install vista on it. Overall I'm quite satisfied with the things..... biggrin.gif

Actually the P4 era is way too long if compared to P3. Till nowadays still got CC using P4 computers, and you still can see many company, school, colleges using P4. As long as Microsoft and other software company continue giving extension supporting for windows XP, I think most light-usage P4 users won't upgrade so soon.

But I was forced to leave P4 since my motherboard was spoiled (use this reason for upgrading mar), actually I only enjoyed using P4 for 4 months since "upgrade" from old celeron 2GHz... Hehe. biggrin.gif

Yea.. Agreed. P4 still run very well in light processing task. Atleast, it is far better then P3, Celeron or old sch Athlon. laugh.gif Same here, i jump shipped due to my mobo problem as well.

my p4 is also quite long already. p4 2.0GHz, still using sdram. just waiting for some parts to spoil..but seems that this mobo is more lasting than i have expected it to be laugh.gif
i feel that it's no point upgrading, since i dont really have choices to upgrade also. might as well jump to new tech when the p4 comes to its time.

sign0014.gif non P4 related. can try post in buy thread instead. shakehead.gif

anyway, P4 is the majority available cpu in corporate offices around the world as well with integrated intel extreme graphics. question for u guys: has your P4 mobo cmos battery been replaced before? want to see how long can the batt last. some of my office's dell P4 workstations cmos batt were dead in the recent months, need to change with a new one. Operating since 2002.

only 1667mhz. performed like P4 2.0GHz. its my torrent rig now. haha....

@ed
i think it depends on how often you use the pc. if never turn off the computer, then it can last for quite long time. imagine the pentium II cmos battery still alive till today.

@edmin
my p4 rig cmos battery has been there for 5-6 years or more. havent changed it before. however my friend's dell much newer than mine had his cmos battery died on him already. and i wonder why the machine has a problem of detecting drives, sometimes the optical drive appears undetected. i have another dell machine too facing the same problem. have you seen that problem before?
