I just got an email from Apple Hong Kong (bought my mbp from the online store there) saying that I can purchase the iPhone online from the Apple Store. Been hearing that they're selling it on the Apple Store but you had to go to the actual store to collect and activate for the US, no news about elsewhere.

When I clicked on the link, as you can see in the attached picture, it states clearly at the bottom:




After conversion, it's about RM2400 and RM2800 only, seems like a fair price. Although you'll need someone to ship to in HK and then bring it back to Malaysia.

Any idea what's going on? Not sure how long this has been there, since I only got the newsletter email today.

how to bring a large number back to here...

Previously, u could only get it thru (local operator) Hutchison's plan. Now it's available directly from Apple's HK online store without any plan.

I think what we need to clarify here is that although it says that the iPhone can be used with any wireless carrier, but is it applicable only to carriers in HK or worldwide? It might not be carrier locked but it could be country locked.

I've been out of sync with the latest updates for quite some time so please excuse me if the above sentence technically wrong.

the prices are on the hk apple store website... and it should be correct since it's their own store. then just take the HK$ and change to RM and you'll get your malaysian price.

My friend in HK called Apple Store and says that it works in Malaysia.

The guy said someone from Singapore bought it and went back to Singapore and just insert the SIM card. It works!

Now the only issue, I wonder do we need to use HK credit card to purchase via online.
