recently just attended a SIVC talk, any comments whether its worth to join ?

I am from penang and planning for a trip to KL for 2 nights (3rdApril2009 - in). I can trade nights with you on any resorts that's on BVC menu (that has no extra charges), think there are still 8 of them.

good day to all,
just joined in the forum. i've joined sivc almost 1 year now, diamond membership. so far quite happy with the services provided and the staying in the hotels were satisifactory. all within maaysia stay so far. (sunway resort, copthorne hotel penang, sunway seberang jaya).

customer service okey so far ..response within few days.sometimes you have to follow up frequently eventhough they said the office will call u once reservation done.
as for the early bookings, managed to book pd legend water chalet and sunway (main tower) for stay in coming school holiday early june..thank god.

overall i think sivc not too bad comared to berjaya (asked my frrien who joined it last 3 years).

All Time sharing vacation clubs are almost the same...lure u & sweet talk you...Once u joined them, all the promises not fulfill suc as:

1) Promised 7 days stay but din mentioned only 2 days weekend!!
2) The ever increase yearly maintenance fee...Ranging from RM270 & higher but no renovation as promised
3) U need to book early (Atleast 6-9mth in advance or else no unit available
4) After taking a/c the oppotunity cost on the advances paid, the cost per room which they said about RM70-RM90 per day actually can comes to RM100/day instead...(OK-lah but not as cheap as u expected)
5) No breakfast..u hv to buy your own so if added in the room cost probably RM150!! sad.gif

I really agree with you. They use such hard selling and pressure you into a decision and they don't tell you all the facts up front. Only after you join, you realise all the problems you get when trying to book hotels and all the hidden costs. Vacation Clubs are for some people. Not for all. If you are the type that travels frequently and don't mind waiting the vacation clubs are for you. But if you don't travel much and have very specific destinations you want to go to, then it;s better to just go with tour groups. Vacation Clubs should be careful not to just sell to anyone.

Yes, We have some painful experience here too. we tried to book for the hotel in french riviera under SIVC last year, according to their website the check in only allowed on Monday. However, when we tried to book them. SIVC was telling us that it was fully booked until Sat and we are only allowed to check in on sat.

Do you know when did we trying to book? It was last year November 2008 and we are trying to book for August 2009. I think it is really ridiculus to tell the customer who book almost one year in advance that the made available resort are fully booked? Nevertheless, you will still get the room just that it is not the date that you are looking for. Mind you, if you try to book too advance, they said not yet. The schedule is not out yet. Then? What do you expect us to do? Calling you everyday to check when the schedule is coming out?

In the end, we need to re-schedule/re-plan our UK/France/Italy trip just to accomodate the stay in that particular hotel?

Conclusion is, vacation club is not that bad if you know how to utilise them. It is most suitable for flexible people like senior citizens. I'm not sure about berjaya one as i'm not berjaya timeshare member but from the information that i gathered, they are imposing lots of hidden fees.

I heard my friend who is SIVC member, complains the points is getting more expensive year by year. Anyway, I am SGIVC member for 5 years. So far, not much to complain about but the fees is getting higher after few years.

From what i heard, SIVC is trying to increase the points required for per night booking at their made available resort but due to strong complaint, they had to settle for the old point system until further notice.

So, hdwarexpert, isn't it good for you if the fee i getting more and more expensive after few years? So, if any of you guys have extra nights to sell it off, don't hesitate to let me know...

I've never heard of Leisure Holidays Membership, not sure how good is that?

Regarding the customer service, take Sunway vacation club,it is not actually that bad, except that they really like call u a lot (eventhough you clearly indicate that emailing is your priority?)

Recently tried to book a room in French Riviera on December for August 2009, they dragged my reservation until early this year then only tell me that my preferred date got all booked up, reschedule me into another days, now have to re-plan our travelling schedule again sad.gif

Hi Yahiko,

I've attended Leisure Holiday 'sweet talk' too...The offer is too good to resist as i remember, you will be able to get back your money after 30years right?
Frankly speaking, i think they home resort is not in good condition..some of them are due to bad maintenance. What do you think about Perdane Beach Resort, is it ok?

As i know the 30 years cannot take back the money you give! only the 50 years packages can... hmm.gif

Perdana beach resort is very okay for me~ near airport, near pantai cenang and its night market... rclxms.gif
The building mayb old in the outside but the room is okay~ can give 3 star la! ahhaah

i've just came back from our family vacation in bali last 2 week by using the SIVC point.. so far it works fine for me

i've joint the SIVC for 2 years, and didn't manage to book for holiday during my first year due to not enough annual leave.. however after appealing to the SIVC, they had allowed me to utilize back my first year point.. which i have use to get 2 unit apartment in jayakarta bali residence in bali for 3 days.. the place was great..

my experience for booking... it happens during the peak season of august in bali. i had tried to call almost all budget hotel at legian area however all fully booked.. i can't change the date because i've buy all flight ticket for all 9 family member.. i try my luck and sent my reservation form witihin 1 week before the travel date and i was lucky that they had process it and give me confirmation within 3 days.. it was great.. no additional surcharge required and process work smoothly for me.. i save more than rm2000 that i used it for shopping... hehehe..

maybe thats my luck... after using the first year points that i got for the 2 unit apartment for 3 days, i still have balance points enough for 2 more days accommodation plus my unused 270 points for this year...

Just been sweet talk by them this afternoon at Matta Fair KL.
Price is abt RM16K now for 7 night per yr package.
Bad point about the talk is after they talk to u, you have to decide yes or no to the package. Once u say no, they said u are not allow to join the club anymore in the future.
Not sure if others have the same experience.

Such a rude way of doing business.

I went to the MATTA fair this afternoon with my sister. Not long after that, I was attended by a girl from Leisure Holiday. I know instantly that this is not the right 'investment' for us. The girl that attended us said that there is no obligation to join after we heard their 'speech' for about 30mins (actually its over an hour). Then i asked how much is the membership fees. Then the girl said, she wanted to review all the benefits first before telling us the fees. We agreed and started listening. After she finished talking, she said she will asks for the manager to tell us the fees. Then the manager came and long story short, full membership fees RM16,000.00. Down payment RM4,800.00 after he revised the price. After we said that we don't want he kept insisting and said to me "come on laa.. be a man..." WTF? He showed his card and it stated there vice president. If his attitude as a VP is like that. I will NEVER trust my money to his company.

My advice to everyone, please don't easily get influenced by these people. RM16k is a big deal and they should not force us to make the decision on the spot. I'm not saying that it is bad and no one should not join, NO. Just keep in mind that, if this is how they treat their customers or future customers BEFORE they got the money... haih... imagine what would happen AFTER they got your money. Please think wisely.

Deqna,

How come you are so lucky? As for my case, i'm very dissapointed with SIVC. Everytime when i tried to make reservation with certain date, after taking their own sweet time, they will usually come back and tell me that the date that i wanted is not available. Do you want to try other date? Hello, i've booked my flight ticket. How do you expect me to change my itinery to suit your given date? WTF? Our last booking is French Riviera, they have written clearly in their website, magazine that minumum booking is 7days and only can check in on Monday. But when we tried to book 9 months in advance, they were telling us that, our preferred date is not available, next available date is on Saturday, what the hell? Why set the rule and not following it? Fine, finally we have decided to tolerate and accept the offer. The apartment is very very simple, do not even have a twin bed somemore, no air cond(hello, this is summer!!!!) and the worst part is need to pay for the electricity bill. I mean what is this? Is this Sunway standard?

Next experience is when we tried to book the accomodation in Phuket, previously they have 4-5 choices of hotels. Unfortunately when we tried to reserve, "Sorry, there is not longer under our made available resort!". Now there is only one hotel made available in Phuket and that hotel is also fully booked. My god, what is this? I've tried to reserve atleast 6months in advance. Their website is not updated regularly, the newsletter will be sent to us once is 6months. Next time, can you atleast send us some email to notify us about this? I mean, why do they remove most of the phuket resort, don't they know that Phuket is one of the most famous spot for vacation?

Hello sunway, i know this is not your fault, but can you atleast make sure that one of your affiliated 'Sunway Internation Vacation Club' is not performing below par too much. THanks

Haha, i've experienced that too...if you tried to negotiate the price, it will really go very very low...But i simply do not trust them!

Moniueyong, there is no need to scare....probably different vacation club operates differently...probably Swiss Garden International Vacation Club is not that bad?

Do you mind to share with us how much you bought the package?
