lol... umbrella.. yes, you can use umbrella but like they told the wind is very strong so you don't need to get expensive umbrella..

you can go to poundland which cost you £1 per umbrella or cheap umbrella, so when ever the wind is too strong and your umbrella is koyak you can throw it away.. there's one time, i just bought my umbrella from poundland and only used for twice the next day it was in dustbin... lol...
yes, winter sales is around end of dec (after christmas).... if you want to get cheap stuff, you can wait till last week of jan or 1st week of feb. that's time they clearing their stock.
QUOTE(youngkies @ Oct 2 2008, 02:23 AM)
1. get a good expensive one from mark&spencers or sort off. those lightweight made of good material (aluminium if iianm), folding umbrella. because of the strong wind, umbrella is not favourable, so get one with good flexibility, one that can easily flip back after being overturned. or you can invest in those cheapo GBP1-2, where it breaks easily and you'll have to change them frequently.
2. yes. it is not massive, but you'll have to hunt around.
QUOTE(youngkies @ Oct 2 2008, 02:25 AM)
that is why investing in an expensive umbrella (gbp10-20) is well valued.
and the massive sales day would be the boxing day, 26th of december. before that, there will be on-off sales in most shops.
QUOTE(liew_jls @ Oct 2 2008, 02:39 AM)
lol.. nope, i bought a £10++ from boots, but it's still went into dustbin after 1 or 2 weeks.. hahah...
yes, true 26th dec is the massive sales day.. but in Jan most of shop will have further discount...
hehe, thanks for all the replies

I will go to the shop and look at the umbrella

Yes but most of the stock (sizes) will be gone by that time. You can imagine during boxing day (26th Dec) some ppl wake up in the early morning just to queue in front of the store.
If you are looking for a bargain go for a shop call Primark. You can get cheap clothes in there. One advise though, do not use hot water to wash the cloths as the cloths will shrink.
QUOTE(youngkies @ Oct 2 2008, 03:35 PM)
really. too bad. cause mine stand the strong wind quite well. M&S makes good lightweight reliable umbrella.
you can get good one on typical sales day.
i prefer to hunt for bargain clothing from better brand, primark quality is a big no-no for me. cutting wise - bad, choices for man - limited. though they are cheap, but not for long term usage.
QUOTE(liew_jls @ Oct 2 2008, 04:39 PM)
yeah, primark is target commercial level. so quality will be low... but if you just want to wear for short term, then it's a good option...
probably TK-Max is another good shop if you like to get cheap branded cloth...
QUOTE(youngkies @ Oct 2 2008, 05:10 PM)
primark targets at young teenager, woman and students.
because esp. woman, they like to mix and match according to season without burning a hole in the pocket, low budget suitable for those students and young teens.
so if you are capable to spend some time to hunt for bargain, you usually can get something of same price as primark, but at better quality and cutting from a better branded shop. get a gf, she sure will be happy to be a bargain hunter at your expense.
Added on October 2, 2008, 5:13 pmused to like tk-max. but realised those out-of-season/rejected designer brands doesnt really worth it either. in addition they have limited choices. for the same price, you can have more options from the mid-level consumer brand.
my 2 cents.
oo... then I will take the time to look through primark and the shop which sell branded stuff (but outdated) and try to get onli the 1 I need. erm... I think it's not easy to get a gf here, coz in my class onli got 2 Chinese girl. (Brunei & Thailand). and the Malaysian I saw in my student hall mostly Malays (all use petrolnas scholarships to come)
p/s: Sorry, another question, when the credit of orange pay as you go going to expired? some say 6 months without receiving and making calls or SMS, but I can't find the written statement from the long terms and conditions provided.
