Ive a CQ tho , having strange problem . The laptop boot and run like normal , but the caps lock and scroll lock keep on blinking . It's like blink 4 times , pause , blinks and loop .

Then .. when the laptop is on powered on , I can't charge the battery . It can only be charged when powered off , no matter on how many battery percentage .

Aside from this , it work exactly normal .... weird sad.gif

Joining the club! Just received my CQ40-153TU yesterday. Delivery was crazy fast. Just the 3rd day after I made my order with HP. Some observations:

-Never realized there were no volume adjustment buttons when I was checking them out in stores. Pretty inconvenient.
-It's quite noisy if compared to the V3000 series, though not as noisy as my old M2000
-Can't complain that much as I get what I pay for

I still can't identify what IGP this model is using. HP says 4500M in the specs while Intel's datasheet says it's 4500MHD for all GM45, GS45 and GL40 chipsets. GPU-z just says GM45.

Intel has a comparison between X4500 and X4500HD but nothing on the mobile IGPs. I assume 4500M also does not support HD video, is that right?

in my cq20-213tu... there is an option to change from AHCI -> IDE
I have some problem with suddenly screen blank.. but after i upgraded my bios to F05 .. have no problem so far...
I can confirm CQ20-213tu can runs on AHCI under Windows XP SP3 which is "much" faster than the normal IDE.

I have a linux partition also... no problem so far..
But i'm really piss off with HP downgrading the P8400 to T5800... which its missing virtualization extension... which i use it to do system simulation...
And the 4-cells battery... i wish its 6 or 8 cells...
And i wonder what is weight-saver option.. call hp.. they have no idea what i'm talking about...

Hey willgan, that's nice that you can select AHCI/IDE in the BIOS,I had to hack mine to get IDE but didn't notice any difference in speed between AHCI and IDE. Which drivers where you using for IDE and did you benchmark the drives or just noticed things took longer to happen under IDE?

Hey guys. New proud owner of a Compaq CQ45-127TX reporting in here. RM2800, and they threw in a notebook cooler (useless IMO) and a flash drive.

It came with Vista Ultimate, which frankly is driving me up the wall. I'm doing my best to like Vista, but I'm pining for my XP on my old Compaq M2268AU. As expected, there are no XP drivers for the CQ45-127TX on Compaq's website.

It is not made any better by the fact that the notebook did not come with a Windows Vista DVD. Yes, I am aware that my copy of Vista is not legitimate. However, short of getting GRUB to work under Windows (I know its possible; I just dont have the time), a dual-boot solution will require the Windows Vista DVD.

Hence my question: how is driver support for the CQ45-127TX under XP? I do know from experience that the Intel Wifi drivers work under both XP and Vista. However, reading through this thread, there seems to be issues with getting SATA, chipset drivers to work under XP.

Is it worth risking installing XP on this fella? How much of Vista drivers are similar to XP drivers?

Thanks in advance.

Hi all

I just got my CQ40-101TU from the PC fair. Installed Vista and it's working good. My only comment is that the left palm rest area feels hot. The proc temperature is at 40 celsius though so I don't think it's a problem. But since you feel the heat on the left palm...it's kind of feels awkward at times. Is this normal?

Ok, I read back and saw it's normal. Thankfully that is the case. But for the CQ40, what did you guys do to reduce the heat?

As a precaution, I bought a cooling pad - reduced the heat just a tiny bit...but it made me feel less worried.

Hi Guys,

Just bought cq40-126au. Damn have to buy new laptop kene stolen. F.... the stealer. Very economic laptop + performance. Installed with xp + centos 5.
For linux user driver. Ethernet install rt8101e driver. Wireless use ndiswrapper.

Kind of weird install PAE kernel --> crash kernel panic.
Compile new kernel panic as well. Tired + no time lor so stick to 3 gig ram for time being.
