Tried the online chat, just get the [An agent will be with you shortly.] but that's as far as it gets. For landline support I'll have to wait until Monday.
The normal flash program runs on Vista. If you can't boot, you can't run Vista, so you cant re-flash. Kinda dumb no! I believe there may be a way to flash using a USB stick, like they do with the Acers, but I have no details as to what file name is expected on the stick. I've tried guessing a few but no luck. Okay, got it sorted This post has been edited by Zibel: Sep 29 2008, 07:12 PM |

QUOTE(hocklai8 @ Oct 1 2008, 12:23 PM) Running Vista and everything's running good so far, except for the warm at the left palm rest area, a little too warm for my liking. Same on my 107TX, FYI I had some problems and took the hard drive out (booted with USB flash drive) and it still gets warm there with no hard drive ! So its not just the hard disk that's causing it. Something else I noticed is the keyboard flexes a lot when using keys around the 'X' key area, maybe just my big fingers Anyone else notice this? HPQ0004 - That would be the HP hard drive sensor (accelerometer).

I changed my WD 250GB HD in my CQ45-107TX to ST 320GB so I thought I might as well show the performance differences in case someone is interested. Using VHP 32bit and Intel iaStor.sys driver 8.5, not the MS AHCI driver 1.0. Temperatures were measured using an external sensor.
The Segate ran up to 9.5C above ambient from running HDTune 7 to 8 times. The Western Digital ran up to just 11.8C above ambient running HDTune 7 to 8 times. Note, the HD internal sensors read about 3 to 4 degrees higher than the external sensor I used. So not much difference in the temps and you probably wouldn't notice much difference in performance most of the time. I was hoping to get the ST 7200.3 320GB but it cost over three times the price of the 5400.5 This post has been edited by Zibel: Oct 24 2008, 01:29 AM |

QUOTE(willgan @ Dec 13 2008, 03:54 PM) in my cq20-213tu... there is an option to change from AHCI -> IDE Hey willgan, that's nice that you can select AHCI/IDE in the BIOS,I had to hack mine to get IDE but didn't notice any difference in speed between AHCI and IDE. Which drivers where you using for IDE and did you benchmark the drives or just noticed things took longer to happen under IDE?I have some problem with suddenly screen blank.. but after i upgraded my bios to F05 .. have no problem so far... I can confirm CQ20-213tu can runs on AHCI under Windows XP SP3 which is "much" faster than the normal IDE. I have a linux partition also... no problem so far.. But i'm really piss off with HP downgrading the P8400 to T5800... which its missing virtualization extension... which i use it to do system simulation... And the 4-cells battery... i wish its 6 or 8 cells... And i wonder what is weight-saver option.. call hp.. they have no idea what i'm talking about... |

QUOTE(igmroey @ Jan 7 2009, 04:18 PM) Hello. I am using a Compaq Cq40-126 AX , So , if we want to adjust the brightness, we can only do it in BIOS mode ? Not in Windows mode ? I tried XP on my CQ45 and could adjust brightness, used Fn + F7 & F8. Worked before installing drivers even. Not sure why so many Compaqs seem to have this problem. Is it the same for all the Compaq models ? That sucks leh. >< |
