PALIT is a fking big company with gainward, galaxy and some other is under them. So buy palit or buy gainward the manufacturing side is both the same. Maybe gainward makes u think like the company is from US lol.

Yeah..But i still wonder why Palit sell their items cheaper..Maybe because the name they(Palit) think it sucks so sell it cheap. They dont really care cos they have Gainward..etc whistling.gif
Palit is not a bad card anyway, its 99% same to the Gainward.

bad temperature ( coz using normal/stock cooler), and u will need aftermarket cooler to to cool ur GC which will cost u more money...

reference card also not factory OC, which will not perform better than Oced GC...

since the gc has a bad temp u also not be able to OC it...

It dont have good appearance?
Im not sure you want a good appearance cooler or one that does what it does best.

Idling at 46~47C and it comes overclocked from factory, 700MHz core.

Unless you wanna overclock.

IMO, there is no use overcloking card anymore. Basically, most games are able to run 60-70FPS and some are able to break 100++ FPS. Only few games like Flight Simulator, Commander of the sea, Crysis and Crysis Warhead are unable to run well on 4850. However, the frame rate it too low to justify the reason to overclock it as it wont even push pass 30FPS on average. So why bother overcloking.

but the xtra framebuffer really helps for crysis, even 4870 is outbeaten at lower resolution. In guru3d also stated the oc potential of gigabyte card is quite impressive 811 core, btw i din know it was zalman cooler.

Just keep in mind that Guru3d is running medium setting nia.

Im using this card. The performance with Crysis Warhead is another different story.

For my case, the stock cooler is doing the job pretty much fine. With some manual fan speed controlling or flash the bios, the 4850 idling at around 48-52c depends on ambient temp and full load at 70-80c.

The GC is not tat fragile against the high temperature, if you want to extend the lifespan of the GC with "low" temperature, you might as well buy a mid range card and keep on upgrading them every 2 years or so if you have the budget.

For OC, I can't gain much FPS from 625mhz core to 700mhz in crysis, just around 2-3FPS increment can't really motivate me to stick with that clock speed. Currently, only crysis requires insane GPU processing power while other new titles such as Far Cry 2 runs fine on my 4850.

IMO, not really worth to get the OC-ed version card, unless you are loaded with cash biggrin.gif
