hi bro shady  notworthy.gif .. but i don really care bout the score coz as long as i think is ok then i don bother it .. haha ..  whistling.gif

i m using balanced battery setting but it still wont last long .. i will choose power saving mode to longer my usage time.. the high performance can only b use when i plug in direct current...  sighhhhh ..... any advice ??

ya i try 1 low end cooler but the effect was not so obvious .. thinking to get 1 aluminium branded cooler .. hope it will help .. or bro shady u hav any commen ? suggest ? if u mean elevate the laptop then i think u mean the pair of ball that stick beneath the laptop rite ?

Yeah the score doesnt matter much. U can go to Change advanced power settings and manually configure the power settings. Im sure that would help to squezze a few mins of battery time. For the battery life, I'm very sure it can last more than an hour. Maybe can reach 2 hr or more. Havent try before though. Most of the time I use AC Power cos the laptop light enough.

For cooler, Ive tried RM8 one before and no difference. I dont feel like spending up to RM100 for a good cooler since this is a cheap laptop. For long term investment I think it might be good. I just use some small but thick books/mag and elevate is on both side or font back. Make sure you dont cover the air vent on the left part of the back so that hot air can come out. At the bottom, there is virtually no air vents so I think getting a cooler wont help much. Just make sure the hot air can come out.

Here's the Windows Performance Index for mine (running on Vista 64bit SP1 with all updates applied, 4GB DDR 667 RAM)

I got exactly the same score like yours but Im using 2GB DDR2 677. Maybe switching to DDR2 800 can get memory score to 5.7 or 5.8. Normally Vista Aero score will be higher than 3D graphics score but this model is opposite. I suspect Powerplay is the culprit because on normal desktop, my HD 3450 downclocks to 110mhz and switches gradually to 500mhz according to load.

last time i tried i think no problem. Maybe settings. try to reinstall the driver again and set the default audio playback device to speakers and headphones.

i just own a CQ40-125AX, performance wise is good, but the battery power i feel disappointed, i run with only the battery, about 1 hour 30 min then battery left 10% need recharge. any idea? or additional battery how much? got better extended battery available?

Added on October 6, 2008, 9:01 pmregarding the TETT sound...

once u installed windows vista, it will automatically set up the sound card driver for you, the sound card work in normal condition but the TETT sound keep coming out. try go to HP website download IDT Sound to update the driver, once successfully, the TETT sound will be no longer available.

this is my last few day experience.

my sister using a DELL notebook (company provided, dunno wht model), running Core 2 Duo on it, doing excel and word can able to reach about 2 hours 30 min to 3 hours. that why i shocked my lappy only can run 1 hours 30 min, although i understand Intel Centrino is best energy saving processor, but AMD processor can't be that much different.

u need to understand ur need. if u r always using it without a power source of course i suggest u get a Centrino base lappy, but to inform u the price for a Core 2 Duo 2.0 is different about rm300-500 bucks (depend on model), for AMD of course is budget lappy. the only cons for CQ40-125AX i think is lack of power, overall is a reasonable price lappy. this is my 2cents, if u need more information, try to consult few shop about the performance. but for sure is, ur budget will help you to choose which lappy suit ur wallet.

this is my opinion. thumbup.gif

Thanks for testing. Too bad cant reach 2 hrs. Did u tweak the powers options? AMD should enable the IGP so Hybrid power can be utilized.

If you have enough cash, always go for Intel. The reason I got this model is because of value. RM2k for a notebook with discrete graphics is exceptional value

As per solarwing's request to combine all this links into one :

HP's Cyberlink YouCam software (to enhance/provide effects for the built in webcam, and sometimes installing this will allow Vista to detect the cam as well, as in my case)

You can download it here :

Help files (What is YouCam) : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/generic...us&lc=en&dlc=en

Vista 32 bit drivers :

There was a very long post in the earlier pages for XP 32bit drivers - too long for me to copy everything.

Anyway thanks to all the posters for providing all these information.

I installed vista 5 times in about 3 hours in the beginning, and it all went out fast and smooth.
Did you try and just let the installation run for a very long time (30 minutes - 1 hour) and see if it completes the installation?

If still not working, and if your Vista is retail, you can give a ring to Microsoft who will guide you on getting the installation done, it's toll free and you wont be charged for an installation issue for a newly purchased product.

Microsoft Malaysia Customer Service & Support Careline
For Domestic Call: 1800 88 6295

Hours of Operation:
8.30am – 7.00pm (Mon-Fri); 10.00am – 2.00pm(Sat)

If it's OEM, you can still try your luck, since MS wont be able to check your PID (it's not installed yet) and unable to determine whether its retail or OEM.

Good luck!
