WHAT I HAVE TRIED!

Nod32
Small, Fast Good detection, removing

Kaspersky
Size mid, Fast Good detection, resource less using kaspersky 5.0.20 Personal Pro

AntiVir
Sux interface, too easy, removing sux detection sux!

AVAST
nice interface, detection still ok. removing not good, alot of useless function

bit defender
nice interface, scan time take too long, abit lag(quite resources)

solution

Nod32 and Kaspersky for best antivirus (100% personal exp)

Was hit with a bad virus/trojan recently. Everytime I launch IE, my memory drops to 0 and CPU runs up to 100% Both ZoneAlarm, Ad-aware and my AVG antivirus couldn't kill it. Finally went to antivirus.com and ran an online scan from there - that did it! smile.gif

Great job dude thumbup.gif
Online virus scanning is really an option to be considered when you're hopeless

Anyways, mind telling me how did you scan virus online while your IE crashed everytime you open it? Were you using other browser? 'coz i notice most online scanners need IE because of the activeX thingy.

Anyone tried Norton Internet Security 2005? I think it's a good one. It include antivirus, antispyware, antispam, firewall and pricacy control. That's everything you need if you get online 24/7. I'm using it now. It's quite anoying when i first installed. A lot of pop-up alert and notifications needing your attention. Well, it's functioning ok. But going forward, it got less and less pop-up alert. Think it's trying to configure your internet security preferences from time to time. Once it's well configured, it'll work smoothly... It's capable to block many unwanted "things" flowing through internet. It did fix most of my problems.

How about McAfee All-in-One? it also have the same features Norton Internet Security has... I doubt which one is better.

NIS 05 is just add some new stuff ( some already exist but norton rename into something fancy ) which to me , is extremely bloated

ill rather get an antivirus , antispyware ,firewall separately from software like AdAware, Zonealarm etc

hmm... you've got your point there... getting the best component from several vendor... Trying to be a wise consumer to get the best from everything.

Ofcourse you can't get everything best from a single package. But i like it easy... everything integrated is easier to manage. You don't have that much icons in you task bar... What I really concern about is software integration. Different software from diffenrent vendors may have difficulty to integrate with each other; or their job may be overlapping. You system have handle these programmes individually. That may takes up more resources from your PC. Isn't it become more bloated to your system? When that happen, it create more trouble to me. I might be wrong...

Btw, PC Cillin, Panda, McAfee and many other vendors also have internet security packages that offer similar functionallity. We have ample choice for that aren't we?

I bet the NIS sure sucks your CPU usage and memory! I personally think that NIS is not work effectively as we can see that many of the users still got viruses infection even there is protection.

running online scan now~ biggrin.gif lol

the best online scanning i've tried is Tren Micro HouseCall

it can scan those worm infected files that most AV software couldn't detect it thumbup.gif
try it now then you will know how many worms hide inside your pc tongue.gif

Hmm... i guess so... mb my cpu is powerful enough to handle NIS... Been using it for 1 month, working fine so far... But i did notice that it slows down IE surfing. So, if i would to change my internet secutiry package, which one is better? i don' want to install seperate software from separate vendor... McAfee? PC Cillin? Panda? Or other suggestion?

i think no vendor provide total security package...
best choice is to install different software from different vendor...
then only got total maximum protection

Running two antivirus or two firewalls is not recommended because there might be conflicts between one another.

But I believe it's okay to have more than one spyware cleaners installed in your system.

What else u call web surfing if u only visit few websites while u have a universe to explore? Info is everywhere and there's no single website provide all info we need. We never know which one is "clean" one. That's y we need these software to protect us.
