I dont like to use antivirus software.. coz slow down my PC..
Last time I tried Panda Platinum 7.0.. not bad but also slow down my PC.. Then move to Avast....lagi teruk.. slow like hell at the start up
Thenafter, reformatted my PC and I didnt use for antivirus software since then.
Recently, I suspected my PC was infected by virus. I tried PC-Cillin Internet Security 2005.. not bad also... but also slow down my PC... uninstalled...
Then try Kaspersky.. hmmmm.... ok... I still able to use my PC even the scanning is running.....did not slow down my pc while scanning... however, take about 4 hours to scan....
Finally I read the comment here about NOD32 and I tried... Very good, use less memory and CPU resources... and I believe is the best among all I have tried in term for the start-up speed...
Detection rate is very good........

Too bad... My another drive windows 2000 infected by virus (before installing NOD32) but NOD32 could not identify the viruses whereby Norton, Kaspersky, Panda, and Bitdefender could identify the viruses... Disappointed me Attached File(s)

QUOTE(wiLL*lianG @ Jan 4 2005, 09:51 PM) Anyone using BitDefender ? If got, like to hear some comments. I just found in some website... I used it previously.. not bad.. better than kaspersky in term of speed of scanning and less resouces taken. But I still prefer NOD32

QUOTE(AMDs-PoOp @ Apr 24 2005, 12:26 AM) its comes with realtime scan also mah The real time is not effective... That why u only realise you were infected by virus after you scan it.

QUOTE(Glocker @ Jun 4 2005, 12:01 AM) Nobody wanna help me? If u want somebody to help u, u must help urself at the first. First, uninstall Norton and use other AV which is more better than Norton. Trust me, Norton is useless. I experienced many Norton users encountered this problem. The Norton was not working after got infected. Double click the Norton icon on tha system tray also no response!

QUOTE(samuraiKidz @ Jul 9 2005, 04:48 PM) If you were to pay for the AVG professional edition, I would suggest you to buy other brand of antivirus instead Nod32, NortonAV or Kaspersky have higher ratings and I believe either of them can do you a better job when it comes to killing viruses and trojans (due to higher detection rate). It's just my 2 cents and I might be wrong. You are right but NortonAV is to be excluded This post has been edited by jack2: Jul 10 2005, 05:46 PM

QUOTE(hao @ Jul 9 2005, 07:15 PM) As for NOD32, i got a question to ask here: Sometime when it pops up a window saying there's a Virus founded in my PC, there's only one option that's available and that's "delete", the rest like "clean", "quaratine"... can't be selected, so there's no choice but to delete the file? Yes, delete is the only option there. I always deleted the files without concern the functionality of my windows. If can't function properly, then format.

QUOTE(Lucas @ Jul 11 2005, 08:16 AM) yeah, that sometimes shows that nod32 is lack in cleaning engine. Delete is not always the way to solve problems and i believe every antivirus is capable of deleting infected files, but not all can disinfect the file. Still, if you install nod32 from the begining, it should able to PREVENT the virus getting on your system the first place. You are right. Some antivitus is not able to prevent the virus infection even AV is installed. It permits the virus to get into system and later baru dapat scan it as virus... stupid. NOD32 has the good prevention system to prevent viruses from getting into your system.

QUOTE(nles @ Aug 11 2005, 10:41 PM) I'm using win xp sp2 with nod32, I suspect it imcompatible with bittornado. Last time I use nod32 then my bittornado always DL halfway then hang. Afterthat i format and switch to kaspersky, my bittornado running fine. After a while i decided not to use kaspersky, cause it use quite some resources. I format pc again and this time i installed nod32 again. The Bittornado problem appear again, always when it reach quite high download rate then it hang. I off window firewall but still same it hang. I wanna off nod32 but i dunno how, if press quit at the control center, it only close the control center but nod32 is still running. I wanna check it is nod32 that cause the problem. Anyone face this problem before? nod32 + bittornado.
Your version is quite old.. the latest version now is 2.5.25... may be u can try to upgrade n see whether your problem still there. To disable NOD32, open all protection modules and untick the protection.

QUOTE(GUNDAM - FREEDOM @ Aug 21 2005, 07:15 PM) hmm... you've got your point there... getting the best component from several vendor... Trying to be a wise consumer to get the best from everything. Ofcourse you can't get everything best from a single package. But i like it easy... everything integrated is easier to manage. You don't have that much icons in you task bar... What I really concern about is software integration. Different software from diffenrent vendors may have difficulty to integrate with each other; or their job may be overlapping. You system have handle these programmes individually. That may takes up more resources from your PC. Isn't it become more bloated to your system? When that happen, it create more trouble to me. I might be wrong... Btw, PC Cillin, Panda, McAfee and many other vendors also have internet security packages that offer similar functionallity. We have ample choice for that aren't we? I bet the NIS sure sucks your CPU usage and memory! I personally think that NIS is not work effectively as we can see that many of the users still got viruses infection even there is protection.

QUOTE(xian_kgx @ Oct 1 2005, 02:49 PM) McAfee is good too but it scans too slow. Always use those long established ones like Norton, McAfee and PC-Cillin, you'll never be wrong. I've been hearing how many ppl say Norton AV is a resource hog but I didn't experience them. Not that my comp is top of the line either. You are just lucky!
