QUOTE(vinesh22 @ May 13 2010, 10:40 PM) Megadeth, Pantera, Slayer, Anthrax, Motorhead, Motley Crue.. What i state here, based on the acts that created monstrous phenomenon on metal scene worldwide...got ori albums from these bands except anthrax and pantera.. totally forgot about megadeth, exodus and slayer, thanks mate!!! gonna checkout exodus now, if they're good, i'll hunt down a cd when i go to sg next haha, yeap, supposed to be about world music over different generations and eras..its a group effort kinda thing,so we divided ourselves into genres, i was first to pick rock, like duh!! hahaha hope for more help guys, keep it coming!! how cool that i can use this thread as an official info source for my paper! It's started by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) from the cults like Motorhead, Venom, Saxon, Diamond Head, Iron Maiden etc. From NWOBHM there's the creation the sound of Thrash metal from american band where the big four started with it. Thrash Metal is the mixed sound in between heavy metal and the sound of hardcore punk to name a few band here.... Discharge (UK), Bad Brains, Minor Threat, D.O.A, Dead Kennedys & Black Flag. Big four thrash metal band from america: Slayer, Anthrax, Metallica (bay area thrasher!!!!) & Megadeth European biggest thrash metal band: Destruction, Kreator & Sodom Lagendary thrash metal band from south american: Sepultura (bra), Sarcofago (bra), Holocausto (col), Volcano (bra) *(bra) = brazil *(col) = colombia Another good & legendary thrash metal band from america & canada: Overkill, Exodus, Testament, Annihilator (can), Exciter (can), Voivod (can) *(can) means canada Another good & legend thrash metal band from european: Cerebral Fix (UK), Onslaught (UK), Hellhammer (swi), Celtic Frost (swi), Bathory (swe - the pioneer of viking metal), Coroner (swi) *(swe) = sweden *(swi) = switzerland Others lagendary thrash metal band from other region: Sabbat (jap) *(jap) = japan Death metal started from the cult based on tampa, florida, "Death" with its front-man Chuck Schuldiner, back in the mid of 80's and followed by Possessed. Then, another cults unveiled like Autopsy, Necrophagia, Morbid Angel, Massacre, Master, Atheist, Obituary and Cannibal Corpse. Most of death metal bands hailing from Florida are often labeled as "Florida death metal" also known as "Brutal Death Metal" on its genre. Death metal spread to Sweden in the late of 80s with the biggest european death metal acts stated below... Biggest european death metal band: Dismember (Swe), Nihilist (swe), Entombed (Swe), Unleashed (swe) & Carnage (swe) In the early 1990s, the rise of typically melodic "Gothenburg metal" was recognized, with bands such as Dark Tranquillity, At the Gates, and In Flames. This lead to the emergence of so-called "melodic death metal" band and modern metalcore sound alike in the year of 2000s above. there another Death metal subgenre which is known as Technical Death Metal, with the horde like Cryptopsy, Edge of Sanity, Opeth, Origin, Sadist, Cynic, Atheist, Pestilence and Gorguts widely known for its massive and technical parts musically. The Polish band, Decapitated gained recognition as one of Europe's primary modern technical brutal death metal act influenced by the old polish death metal band, Vader. If you like to know about rock genre feel free to msg me later.. i can describe you about glam rock genre and its band too... Or the complete history of metal as well.. hahahaha from heavy to black metal.... QUOTE(LeaSe*lineR @ May 14 2010, 06:50 AM) just buy ori and the cdr hahaha ori cd simpan dlm peti besiĀ No use to 'simpan dalam peti besi' because these CD when not use in a long time, you'll find 'kulat' on it.. hahahaha... spermblast...wat happen to them?long time no news But cassette will be more worse than that... Most of my old metal cassette, putus taliiiiiii..... or full of 'kulat' on it too. Spermblast? They're still active... This post has been edited by kInOzAwA: May 14 2010, 11:00 AM |

P/s- look, i think you should google up for the fungus problem on CD... what i found today proved that i'm right based on my own long period experienced of owning CDs. lol again.... http://www.springerlink.com/content/tdcjm70kd40gy8qf/ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/...pact-discs.html This post has been edited by kInOzAwA: May 14 2010, 12:00 PM |

QUOTE(Angel of Deth @ May 14 2010, 11:59 AM) There are so many thrash metal band that i wanna listen but i got no money and some of them are hard to find (Voivod, Exodus, Pantera, Sepultura). Perhaps Youtube is the solution for now. For pantera, voivod, exodus and sepultura it's still available in local music shop.. Go to jaie's Nebiula Metal shop at campbell complex and you'll find these band as well.I love Sepultura "Chaos AD", a superb album..... i must say this is one of the masterpiece album in metal scene!!! Pantera is a groove metal band, check it out their best album "Cowboys from hell..." and i bet a lot of people will misinterpreted and confused with its genre as well.. Phil Anselmo of Pantera nowadays more into black metal scene after met up Killjoy of Necrophagia and formed a band name Wurdulak... check it out.. haha |

QUOTE(Angel of Deth @ May 14 2010, 12:48 PM) That Nebula shop is located at which floor? And how about the price, expensive as Acoustic or much cheaper? The same floor like kedai auntie, where's located at Campbell complex. You need to walk on another side of path where's nebiula metal shop located at. I think price-wise, nebiula offer a cheaper solution over Acoustic Music. The best part where you can buy used item from other ppl too.. if you're lucky enough you'll find some good old stuff too p/s- i think the shop opened around 12pm to 8pm daily.. don't go early than that because i'm not sure it's open or not. i'm there.. and meet-up a lot of friend.. but from my own observation, there's only a few old timer left.. guys with the thrash like denim jacket (nowadays) mostly were the newcomer for sure.. but what i don't like inside the gig.. someone started the mosh pit and pogo style of punk.. it's the way different from the old time... we are the headbangers...

it's not dangerous but it's not the way metal gig should have.. if it's a mixed gig i don't mind but since it's contains metal band, so be METAL way of style.. headbanging all the way. if you want to dive i don't mind really.. the crowd spoiled my mood a bit for sure... just head bang all the way.. and what's irritates more these bloody folks want to riot and look alike embarrass between each other... luckily the fight was stop after a while..

QUOTE(silbii @ May 24 2010, 04:00 AM) thrash metal gigs must have mosh pit lah...where got headbanging only???...aiyo! Even the Metallica gig i saw in London back in 96 had some groups moshing in the pit...but they we'rent that agressive...coz maybe it was just Metallica's playing actually i don't like the fighting cause of the mosh pit inside the gig... i know that silbii.. but i don't like that.. hahaha... i think i have skeptical mind about the mosh.. because the mosh pit were started by the punk crowd not the metal crowd for sure... of course thrash metal has something to do with the hardcore punk scene back in the early ages. Even quorthon of bathory admitted that he comes from the punk scene. Or just listen to Anthrax's 'caught in the mosh' or DRI's thrash zone...all talking about mosh pit...that's like the core spirit of thrash metal... maybe this is partly because thrash existed from the punk / hardcore scene + heavy metal guys who hated the hair-glam rock movement... still the Arch Enemy's gig in Jakarta was purely awesome too...those Indos really know how to mosh and headbang! anyways...i'm too old for all this sh*t...coz once you reach a certain age, you look back and you'll realised all these are just an extension rock and roll. But way better of course! Added on May 24, 2010, 4:02 am yupp..that's the best! sadly the place was too dark...can't see Mille or Ventor clearly...but one fine gig indeed! i never being a big fan of anthrax, but between the big four of thrash i think i'm on the side of Slayer... with more evil & obscure lyrically.. hahaha.... luckily i was there in Kreator live in KL. I still have their hooded sweater too! Ohhh luckily again i can see them clearly from where i've been there... But i feel a bit frustration on the sound, where the guitar sound a bit down-turn compared to others, i can't hear the solos clearly... damn.. but it was a great moment to remember about them coming over here...... |

QUOTE(silbii @ May 24 2010, 11:28 PM) that Backroom where Kreator played is actually a relocated BackroomKL...back in 98/99 the original BackroomKL is near jln p ramlee ...if my memory serves me well...that was was called Fire before. And Fugazi used to play here... old rock skoolers should know about Fugazi yeahh i remember about that... thanks for remind me back.. Fugazi come down to malaysia in 1996. They're the hardcore punk band from the old embrace today + jawbreaker.. and BackroomKL was perhaps the only club that does rave music back then...it's the place where u got after all the clubs are closed...and it opened until morning the next day i remembered all the otais of the rave scenes now --- junglejerry , dj desire etc...they all started from BackroomKL oh, those were the days when i was into metal during daytime and raver after midnight... haha ... btw - back in 1991 i used to be at a gig in Ampang ...maybe the first few u/g gigs ever in KL that time... and it was freakin crowded coz the place was too small...so some of us had to be forced to go back since no one can actually breathe inside it...bands played were the original Flop Poppy, Spiral Kinetik Circus (with Fathul!) who later formed Infectious Maggots oh the memories! |
