i love swordmaster more than dismal euphony... Swordmaster with its best album postmortem tales was one of my fave.. but they already disbanded long time ago.. But i don't like their Deathstars band... It was cool watching back the old video tape of their performance in World Domination Tour 1997 together with Demoniac, Driller Killer, Dark Tranquillity etc. smile.gif

Got question here:

If u understand wat the singer of a death metal song is singing, does the song lose its meaning? Cuz its suppose to dont let u know what the hell they singing right?
*
no it doesn't. it's just a concept of death metal, either you can understand or not as long as it suit well with the music as it goes... musically, it shalt be the last commitment behind the drum and guitars, the most important part for death metal sound.... wink.gif

dun understand y they have this concept although its awesome... like why the hell would u sing but not let ppl know what u sing? kinda do something halfass do for the sake of doing it. tongue.gif
*
obscure music & extreme metal... it should be different than others. Vocal style is unique. Vocal sound like in anger, full of sickness or full of doom either in growl or grunt... DM focused more onto music instead on the vocal part to be put on another level, it's totally different from Rock on its vocal. haha. Vocal part also can be recognized either it's death metal, black metal or thrash metal and other genres too.. That's why i said that genres were important, so we can differentiate between each other easily. wink.gif

QUOTE(dreamytheater @ Nov 18 2010, 10:20 PM)
hi guys, new to this forum here.  cool.gif

I'm trying to get a KREATOR t-shirt from their gig in KL a couple of years back, and also any SEARCH concert shirts the more vintage the better.

if u have one, or know someplace i can get concert t-shirts pls msg or email me! Many thanks!!
*
i got the hooded sweater where i bought from Jaie of Sil Khannaz back in 2005, before Kreator headed here and i was there on their gig too. I think it's hard to get that shirt unless someone selling it (2nd hand) or there's bootleg by other ppl (Acoustic Music love to do this), it's non album t-shirt but tour t-shirt and this sure put some value to it. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(avantasia @ Nov 23 2010, 11:48 AM)
Acoustic - PERTAMA COMPLEX should have this kind of shirt...
*
I don't think Acoustic music still have the old stock of the t-shirt anymore. tongue.gif

QUOTE(Angel of Deth @ Nov 24 2010, 05:15 PM)
why Pantera considered as groove metal? Which part of the songs that are groovy?
*
QUOTE(CargoCult @ Nov 24 2010, 09:58 PM)
We're not talking groove like disco or something that makes you want to dance, haha. It has a certain groove to it. It's not super fast like thrash riffs, not fast and complex like death metal riffs. Slower and heavy.
*
It's the music-wise apart from normal thrash metal genre, it's called groovy thrash metal. The sound of Pantera sure sound like groove when combined from drum, to bass to guitar, but it's different from groovy/techno stuff of course. Maybe you need to listen to Voivod where they're the master of techno thrash metal wink.gif

QUOTE(Angel of Deth @ Nov 24 2010, 11:30 PM)
My favourite is Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Exodus and lots of them are American thrash metal band. Recent;y i start digging Pantera and Joe Satriani.

Btwm this is good sites of obscure/underground/hidden gem metal band: http://thenewreview.net/tag/free
*
Great, i've been listening to every metal band across the world.. but my most intention of metal sound would go for European! I enjoy American's tampa death metal, bay area thrash, and others part of the world too! I'm more to old school death metal, teutonic thrash metal, old school black metal and 90's 2nd wave of black metal stuff. smile.gif

metal scene is pretty slow now a days ... no new materials coming out ... the latest good album that i am listening to is "as i lay dying - The PowerLess Rise", any good recommendation?
*
not really.. it's still kicks ass as always. biggrin.gif
malaysian metal scene doesn't growth, it's just like stagnant as before. But if you're talking about world metal scene, it's always keeping with the pace of the music industrial, where there's a new genre coming out. But the new genres usually if they're combining with 'core' element, metalhead cannot accept that. More like attitude of music and the way the sound it is... But heck, who cares right? If you like that than is still what you're supposed to listen. lol. Today's generation a lot better where people can find more news and information about the band on the internet. In the 90's we're stuck on getting information by reading 'zine, newsletter and such. Real metalhead always avoid mainstream magazine 'coz the information they gives more like crap with such shitty gossip and such.... tongue.gif

The spirit of metal underground scene will never die and i always enjoyed the old school xerox print 'zine over the commercial pro-printed. I dunno why, i just love the spirit and the honesty they gives.... wink.gif

For Overkill, i like their 4th early album starting from Feel the Fire, Taking Over, Under The Influence and The Years of Decay. This is my fave album from 'em, yes The Years of Decay and Feel The Fire would be the best of the best album for them if you're asking me! Ironbound not bad though but still i like their old stuff more. smile.gif

I think that was taken from 'Cliff 'em all' tape. A lot of early stuff inside and one of them is Cliff playing Aneasthesia with a Rick bass. That's pure orgasm!
Speaking of band from Terengganu, whatever happened to Modar? They are one of my favourite local ol' skool metal beside Infectious Maggots.
*
Modar is still active nowadays gigging around, but with a new line-up. Got two new album out already. Only mang @ azlan was the old line-up, while others were his music student recruited as a new line-up biggrin.gif
While speaking of Infectious Maggots, recently they're playing at the gig by end of last year. I was just meet-up Jijoe (Infectious Maggots / Acid Death / Spiral Kinetics Circus) on the gathering held by the old-school Terengganu's undergrounders (Kompleks Kg Tiong K. Trg Underground Eid Reunion from 1985 - 1995 fellas) including some of the Carburetor Dung's like Joe Kid & Shahlan, Mallaria / Sicknoise members like Kuyee & Kudin (visa), old Modar's line-ups like Tok Ari, Bujal, Nusi & Mang, Tahannus, Acid Death, old zine editor (Immortal, Words of Evil, etc) etc...

hardcore/metalcore? bit confused...

Which part are you confused about? The part that they are considered metal?
*
QUOTE(skylinelover @ Jan 1 2012, 04:28 PM)
hahaha hardcore n metalcore is not real metal at all...dont even get started with nu metal in the 1st place wey...those r just wannabe genre that wont last long laugh.gif
*
hardcore/metalcore belongs to sub-punk genre rather than metal. Indeed, the sound of metalcore/new american metal/deathcore influenced from those melodic death metal / groove / industrial / thrash metal and sometimes mixed of black metal, but their attitude more towards punk by itself but more commercial. hahaha... Musically, most notable on its sound is their "breakdown" part and the vocal sound too "hardcore" which make them look un-metal.. haha

try this: http://metalon.org/?page_id=6

metalon radio link already posted several months ago by me. Recently, they're updated the server and changed the ip. Anybody who still save the old playlist need to download it back or just change the ip address to listen.

MetalOn Radio is online metal radio based in portugal and 24-hrs non-stop music of 3 categories:

The Heavy
(Heavy Metal, Power Metal, Melodic Metal and Hard Rock

The Thrasher
(Only Thrash Metal, from old school to “new school”)

The Brutal
(Death, Black, Thrash and Obscure Metal)

If you prefer to listen to local metal acts, you can listen to Trunasuci's Words Of Evil (W.O.E) Metal Radio.

Added on April 3, 2012, 9:55 amthe map of metal really cool layout and shit but the music quality not good sad.gif

for visual kei/japanese-rock you need to go to j-rock thread to ask. X-japan, dir-en-grey, malice mizer, moi dix mois makes good music with influenced of old school rock and metal itself. smile.gif

watch helloween - i want out .. if u know what i mean..  biggrin.gif

just tell 'em to STFU. Death to the false metal! False will not stay longer just like the trend of nu-metal. If you wanna listen to whatever music, there's nothin' wrong at all. But this is the 'METAL THREAD' and gonna be TRUE METAL all the way it should be. \m/
