Why not? Europe can be considered as metal too; hair metal, glam metal, similar to many 80's band; UFO, van Halen, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Accept, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Scorpions etc. But of course their sound are much mellower than those bands that you've mentioned. Nonetheless, it still under big metal family. Thus, i think this is the right place. I'm aware there's always will be some kind of stigma by fans of 'heavier'-sound-metal or non-mainstream toward the slow / mainstream one. Anyway, this is not my original intention.

Hair Metal/Glam Metal certainly doesn't belong in this thread IMO. You can post it in the Rock thread instead cause that is what they really are.

This Metal thread was originally created to discuss about Extreme Metal genre. If you happened to go through the first version of Metal thread, even the mentioning of the band Slipknot was frown upon.

Some sick - decent stuff from Seattle indie death metal / metalcore/ hardcore/ bands. It's compilation album and can be previewed in it's entirety or downloaded for free in variety formats.

http://rgwmedia.bandcamp.com/album/rgw-nwko-compilation

This website is very good at introducing decent obscure and indie band (mainly from US).

Must take a lot of courage and guts for him to live through that since 20 years ago. Truly inspiring, everybody should appreciate their life and never give up for petty reason. I mean lots of teenager parted way with their life just like that. Should look up to this man before make any rash decision. From his posts on his official forum, he never did once lament about his health and life. There's no IF in his life.

Added on March 29, 2012, 8:57 pmIt's me or Mike Portnoy drumming has become bland and regressed since he left Dream Theater? Maybe because of his new band style..

Don't see anything wrong with that at all. He's just sharing what he likes. Last thing metal need is close minded views. That is how society view us metalheads, with their mind closed.

Thanks for this. My original intention was nothing can substitute lighter or candle during live concert. Not because of nostalgia, but the atmosphere just isn't same. The band was secondary, though i still think they're still a classic heavy metal band. Ronnie James Dio old band; Rainbow by today standard can be considered quite slow, not too complex and melodic. But they're still regarded as a metal band, just have different sound. Ultimate-Guitar Archive forum, is pretty open but then they have plenty of subforum for specific genre. Death / extreme just don't mix with me, especially those who have extreme growl and excessive blast beat. But i still give a try from time to time.

My favourite:

I think the biggest problem with metal is that it has so many genres and sub-genres until the fans are divided and argue among each other which is more metal. Proud to be able to appreciate tunes from 70's - 2012 be it rock bluesy jazz to heavy metal. I'm also a Dio fan, this is one of my favorites

I would like to think most metal heads are open minded to some extent. By informing another member to post non extreme metal topics in a separate thread is just that

1 . It is hard enough to find a place to talk about extreme metal. We really dont want to talk about glam metal please

2. There is already a rock thread elsewhere

Me ? I listen to all kinds of shit, even JPOP . you dont see me talking about JPOP or JROCK here.

But if you do want to talk about JROCK - PM ..heheheh

ok... who else is going to HATE ETERNAL's concert ? seriously man...why is HATE ETERNAL concert promoted like a small one ?

My point exactly. Unless there is no Rock Thread, I would accept the post by Angel of Deth with open arms.

And there is also a thread about Megadeth somewhere too. tongue.gif

1- I'm into heavy metal but not for glam, sorry.. I've been raise up during that era and see it thru the TV, video tapes and such.. there is a huge difference between Heavy metal and glam rock/metal..

2- I'll check it out..

for JROCK, I'm crazy for a band called SEX MACHINEGUNS!!! thy combining heavy metal, speed, thrash, power metal and shredding solos!.. still looking fopr their live DVD SM Finale.. with their ex-guitarist C.V Panther, which i can say a superb guitarist/shredder.. both guitarist is awesome!! like to share their vids.. see and think how great they are...

takling about HATE ETERNAL; they just come into the list later, everyone just know that METALCAMP will featuring DRI... and HATE ETERNAL is platying somewhere nearby ( thailand and indo? ).. so the deal has been made by the organiser and later put HATE ETERNAL into the list.. it's going crazier!!..

Some new heavy stuff. Thrash metal but sound like little bit punk influence with the song structure and length. Their wiki stated they're crossover thrash, i don't know what that mean.

I'm fan of instrumental metal / rock, this sound interesting to my ear:
