QUOTE(Onyx_black @ Feb 15 2009, 09:14 PM) Depending on your configuration, the notebook does heat up quite rapidly; notebook cooler is highly recommended for this XPS. The fan always spins constantly, goes loud when you play games. It doesn't burn your palms or fingers but it's consider hot for the average joe. another way is put something under the back of your laptop to make it higher. this simple foc way can cool your laptop for few degree, and sometimes the fan will remain off without needing it.

QUOTE(c28 @ Feb 26 2009, 07:44 PM) so would you suggest i go for a dell xps instead of a studio xps if my main purpose is gaming? between these 2 studio xps 16 is better with newer technology unless you getting xps 1730.

QUOTE(clemong_888 @ Feb 27 2009, 06:12 AM) dell studio xps 13 is up on offer in my country, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd, nvidia 9500M upgraded with the usual p8600 for only about rm3600 after conversion. seriously considering it but shud i pay more for the 3 yr complete cover warranty? nice price there.. get the 3 year complete cover if you plan to use it for a long time, save the trouble of sudden break down and pay for expensive repair.

QUOTE(likito @ Mar 5 2009, 09:56 PM) hey guy , my friend just ask lowyat xps stuido 16 upgrade to 3gb and 320gbhdd with rm4040 actually the price didnt really drop that much now comparing when it first launched. there's rm500 rebate that time. dell just keep changing the based spec which make it looks cheaper and more option. my system same like that with 4gb ram only around rm4200 excluded 3-year Premier Service with 3-year CompleteCover and able to pay via installment. but there's no tv tuner which didnt released yet that time.

QUOTE(Dackson @ Mar 13 2009, 05:06 PM) for processor P8700 better or T9600(2.53ghz) both same 2.53gHz but one with 3mb cache another 6mb cache. which one save energy and which one faster ?? P8700 is 45nm, more energy efficient. QUOTE(Dackson @ Mar 14 2009, 05:14 PM) new Studio 1555 graphic score is 5.4 something desktop score is 5.3 ... studio 1537 with 9 cells in high performance is 4 hours ... ~.~ crazy .... (i experience b4) haiz ... studio 1550 compare with SXPS 1640 dont know which one win ?? may be SXPS 16 ... but in term of price and performance i think studio 1550 win gua ... sxps 16 graphic score is 5.6 and desktop score is 5.9, it's not really slower.. i remember studio 1555 3dmark06 is around 4.2k while sxps 16 is more than 4.8k for me.. sxps 16 still win in term of performance but not on price. it's mainly expensive because of the ddr3 ram still very high now plus maybe the name and design (leather?).. QUOTE(Dackson @ Mar 15 2009, 12:10 AM) hmm ... my SXPS 16 graphic score is 5.9 and gaming graphic is 5.5 why ur gaming graphic is 5.6 ?? ~.~ how to configure ?? my processor is 5.4 memory is 5.9 primary hard disk is 5.8 lower than b4 reformat is 5.9 any one know how to upgrade score ?? there isnt much differences between 5.5 and 5.6.. i dun even think that benchmark really make much sense since the highest score is 5.9 or 6 only.. ppl with the world fastest graphic card will also might score the same as yours..

QUOTE(Dackson @ Mar 16 2009, 12:07 AM) this unit very hot !! my so far my max up to 80 just normal using without cooler ... ~.~ Who know what is SSD driver ? It's a hardware go find 3 fans cooler .... but fans spin must fast ... get an aluminum cooler. look at previous post ... hv ppl post good cooler master 80c normal usage? Check from internal software or what? that's freaking high compare to mine.. Solid state drive, new data storage device, try google it. CREATIVE Sound Blaster® X-Fi MB Audio Software Solution is a software. you can easily know it from the name itself software solution. rm29 only wont let you get any internal audio hardware device from creative for laptop, at least for now. QUOTE(Onyx_black @ Mar 16 2009, 08:17 AM) The sound quality is reasonable I would say, not quite Harmon Kardon/Altec Lansing's standard though. I think that depends on which laptop that comes with Harmon Kardon/Altec Lansing. Cheaper compaq still comes with AL but the sound is day and light if you want to compare. QUOTE(Enigmare @ Mar 16 2009, 03:45 PM) Where are the cooling vents on the SXPS16 actually? Does it get hot via normal web surfing if I place it on my lap flat? at the back on top of the power button, left to the battery. yup it will get warm on your lap even normal web surfing, using power saving mode will decrease it by a little.
