KDK regulator tried and tested in public schools running at top speed 12 hours a day.

While the cheaper ones will work.. it will be a question of when they fail only.

Nowadays public schools no support local fan brand kah? Last time when I'm studying (20 years back), I remember my primary and secondary school mostly using local brand LEB, now couldn't find this brand anymore.

For budget regulator can, which brand is recommended ya. Saw a few Khind (RM90), KDK (RM150) and Panasonic (RM150). Will there be any huge difference in quality ?
*
I'm using Mistral (from same Khind factory) 2 years already, bought similar priced as the Khind. It was spinning very fast, fan speed 2 already enough breeze for my living room, compared to my previous KDK 20 years old model which we used speed 3 & 4 since newly installed at that time.

But I notice one thing, it was easily to slow down by dust, if I exceeded 1 month didn't wipe off the dust, it will spin more slower, while previous KDK I can waited full 2 months without wiping. It could be motor with lower torque (susceptible to dust loading) but higher horsepower (thus spin faster)? I dunno, lol

Use this

Trigo Calculator

Key in this

Angle B = Downlight beam angle divide by 2 (if beam angle 110, then put 55)
Side a = Fan height from ceiling

You will get "Side b" which is the minimum gap from tip of the blade to the centre of the downlight.

Then you can size your fan.

Probably better to give extra 2-3" gap for "safety".

Great! A good guide line. I am also about to buy a 60" fan. And worry about disco light effect.
Thanks Blanket

Does anybody have experience with Alpha AX60? Was thinking of installing either this or KDK V-touch Junior in the bedroom.

All feedbacks are much appreciated smile.gif

Vtouch Jr using AC motor
should be almost zero maintenance as ALL AC motor is brushless. thumbup.gif
this one tried and tested legendary blade design (also used in Sensa).

For the Alpha AX60-5B 56 its using DC motor
DC motor can come in brushless or brushed model - you need to check with Alpha to see if motor is brushless or with carbon brush as they didn't explicitly mention.
I'll assume the Alpha Natural Wind = yuragi mode.
Other than that, DC motor save power over AC fan, although it also depends on usage pattern to be noticeable (whether run as per ST testing or just minimal use few hours here n there only)

Anyone can give some advise, I'm looking for DC ceiling fan.

I'm thinking of either Panasonic Econavi, or KDK Sensa 4.
Both look similar though, even the prices I saw online are similar.
Are they worth the price?

Or, any other DC fans I should consider?

Main thing I'm looking for is reliability, and DC for power saving. With everyone working from home, we at least have 3 fans running from morning till night every day. sweat.gif

Make sure the fan hook is long enough to support it. Initially mine was too short(can fit in kdk sensa4) I had to extend it to install thia alpha fan. You may refer the guideline in their site.

Compared to kdk sensa 4 the wind is not as strong and making louder noise.

Sensa 4 is DC brushless.
Should suit your needs biggrin.gif

MOTOR W - FAN ONLY (LOW)
2.5

MOTOR W - FAN ONLY (HIGH)
41.0

as compared to AC motor fan:
MOTOR W - FAN ONLY (LOW)
20

MOTOR W - FAN ONLY (HIGH)
68

However the ROI for "DC fans" price premium will take awhile to realise. laugh.gif
say total of 100W power difference (between 3 units AC vs DC fans) used for 16 hrs * 30 days equate 48kwh
at 0.518 3rd tier TNB (exaggerated) is RM 24.86 per month diff.
at 0.338 2nd tier TNB (more nominal) is RM16.23 per month diff.

Hi everyone,

Do you guys know the capacitor type/size to use for Panasonic ceiling fan F-M14C2?

I don't want to uninstall the fan then wait for delivery from shopee, so I want to order first then uninstall fan when item arrives.

Thank you!

no need to uninstall. just climb up ladder and move the bottom cone cover up until you see the capacitor.

I bought KDK V-touch jr instead, but I did buy a few Alpha Cosa Xpress fans as well. I wonder if this is applicable to this model as well..

Nevertheless, thanks for the heads up!

i have two exact model of wall fans (midea 16" p/n: MF-16FW6HR), bought and installed at same time, they have been serving good for 4years+, but recently one of it doesn't blow strong wind like the other one. what could be the possible issue? probably can diy fix/replace part?

how bad is it?

if have difficulty to turn or slow to accelerate in speed 1 it is usually the start/run capacitor that is failing.

if squeaky noise it would be the motor shaft bearings.

the least likely would be the motor windings.

of the 3 possible faults or possible problem, the capacitor is the easiest to deal with. but it will involve dismantle the fan motor housing, identify the capacitor and check/replace the faulty capacitor.
may require skills like soldering to join wire/terminal.

for bearing and motor issue, usually it is not worth the trouble to fix. i'll let it work until it doesnt work.

could be capacitor. will need to check the capacitance, need special multimeter for that.

if diy skill no good, dont bother

Should be alright, 10x10 feet seems like a computer room size.. which in my case is using a 54" old Sensa 4 usually on the lower speed 1/2 so translating to 48" should be still within the nominal working range for 48".
