I recall that certain PS1 games cannot be played on a PS2 (Gradius Deluxe Pack and a few more) no matter what.

Also, I noticed that XRGB's output has scan lines which is more eye pleasing when compared to the PS3 upscaling. Are the pics using the same resolution?

Anyway, I agree with most. Retro games are better played on CRT's or regular SDTV resolution. Small screens like PSP's are also OK.

IIRC Gradius Gaiden got messed up in the last stage.. pretty sure there are some more but most games affected are shmups don't know why hmm.gif

That XRGB with scanline is either 640 x 480 or 1024 x 768, and the rest was done by the Bravia chip (it was a Sony 52" Bravia).

I've been arguing with 3rotor for a while now what's best for retro gaming. While I can't deny CRT provide the best solution but seeing not many CRTs accepting RGB, and the fact that CRT production will come to a complete end very soon (as soon as 2011) a scaler is the "future" for "past" gaming.

Leave there also still like that grumble.gif

But my most recent acquisition (a HD 34" CRT) has ports that are pretty sunken into the body itself, so I don't see the ports getting loose that fast thumbup.gif

I myself using Panasonic 29" 250M, has dual dual component input, and it does P.Scan. The other one is Sony 21", can't remember which model but it has 1 component and 1 S-Video (very rare for a 21"). I think it's more easy to find Samsung than any other brand these days.

Oh man! Moero! Justice Gakuen! I have never, ever seen the Japanese cover to the game. Did Sony Wings ever carry that title? Tekken 3 and Soul Edge used be quite common in 1998. No spinecard?

WTA: Are you buying for the sake of collecting or playing?

There's nothing wrong with either, as I used to collect, but seeing my gaming hours are significantly reduced these days I tend to get what I play only hmm.gif

rolleyes.gif My goal is to play them. But it is an impossible goal. My dream is actually being able to free myself for an extended period of time and focus on playing all the games I have. With 2 very young kids I doubt I can realise this dream in the next 20(?) years. But I do enjoy the 1-2 gaming hours I can afford per day.

At times I also buy for the sake of collection / spare purpose, but only limited to my favourite series Resident Evil. Which I have most of the titles on PS and GC (but not sega or N64 - out of reach/budget), and both Jap and Eng (but not PAL). And some titles I have multiples copies. This is just for collection laugh.gif But I am selling anything that I have >3 copies now, slowly.. sweat.gif
