Has anyone played any of Capcom's VS series on Saturn? I have a 3rd party 1MB/4MB RAM cartridge, which doesn't seem to work on 4MB mode. I'm really itching to know how does it look and play on Saturn. Yes, you can already play the actual arcade version via emulation, but I get a kick out of playing kick-ass ports on home consoles.

Not used to buying online T_T Gundam, willing to help me out? Forking out cash is not the issue. Getting it from online is.

Ah well. Maybe I'll get around to this buying online thing. Until then, it's just garage sales or gamestore browsing for me. Moving on. Ahem, so any chance you also have a Saturn or Dreamcast Twin Stick as well? This thing is the stuff of myth apparently.

I can still appreciate Virtual On even to this day. Played the game throughout the whole of 1997-1998. It's pretty much burned to my retina now. Which is probably why I'm kinda clouded by nostalgia, tech be darned. Oratario Tangram is definitely the better game, but the 1st will always be something special to me.

Gundam, how much are we talking about for the Twin Stick? I'm super interested in reliving my old days with Virtual On.

I would. If the Dreamcast Twin Stick can be found, this would be my priority. Otherwise, I'm perfectly fine with the Saturn version.

If the Dreamcast has really been modded, then yes you can play NTSC/U and PAL discs. However, most Dreamcast systems I've seen (or own) are never modded. Back then, I bought a NTSC/J title, and tried to run it on my NTSC/U Dreamcast. I couldn't run it without modding of course. However, you can use a utility disc called Action Replay CDX. After loading the utility, swap out the disc for your game disc, and play! Not all games can be run using Action Replay though. A modchip is still the best way to bypass region lock.

QUOTE(gundamalpha @ Jul 4 2009, 02:41 PM) So fast I can't decide whether to sell my entire Saturn Capcom fighting games collection (around 10+ or so games) + like new Hori joystick Say, does the list include all the 4MB games? Will it also include the 4MB cartridge? Might be interested if you're including that as well.

Has anyone ever played the 1st Tecmo's Deception on PS1? I remember reading about it in a copy of EGM (1995 or 1996, can't remember). At the time at least, Deception was probably the most 'evil' game I ever saw. MK notwithstanding, the game's portrayal of violence and demonic elements seemed really shocking. The fact that Deception actually came out in North America is even more shocking. This was back when the MegaTen games were never released outside Japan for its questionable content.

But I liked the Sonic 3 bonus stages! Once I noticed that the stage is grid based, I started practising like crazy until I got real good at it. Sonic 2's was more memorable though.

Is this a complete game? Or just a sample? I tried a sample of Sonic 2 HD some time ago. I don't think that project was ever competed. Added on August 14, 2009, 4:59 pmQUOTE(S4PH @ Aug 13 2009, 11:31 PM) My latest collection [attachmentid=1135669] [attachmentid=1135670] Bro gundam i need ur advise im having problems with ps1 memory card as my Ps1 memory card is detected when in game but at the browser its not available why is that. (Not all games can detect the card MGS1 have no problem at all) read somewhere that newer slim models of ps2 blocks certain official and unofficial ps1 memory cards, or its just that my darn old card is defective. Any tips for me to get a compatible memory card for my current ps2 Oooh, Parasite Eve! I just loooooove Aya Bre..., uh, I mean the game! Where is my PE sequel btw? Has anything else been made public about 3rd Birthday, the Parasite Eve sidestory/sequel? This post has been edited by tripleB: Aug 14 2009, 04:59 PM

Sorry, I don't count PE2 as a sequel. Plotwise, it's canon I suppose. I liked Square's pitching of the 1st game as a "cinematic RPG". It was gorgeous to look at, combat was interesting, and it genuinely felt like a competitor to Resident Evil. Then Square pondered too much on the "Resident Evil" part, and PE2 became an RE clone. PE2 lost me completely. Can't bear to play the game at all, even though the story is supposed to get me interested.

I may be wrong, but the PAL version of Shenmue II will not run using AR or DCX. I remember when Shenmue II was close to being released back in 2002, Microsoft suddenly snapped up exclusive publishing right for the North American version of Shenmue II. Which meant that the Dreamcast Shenmue II could not be released in the US. Importing the PAL copy was a no brainer, but I remember reading from a lot of sources that the PAL version can be run only on PAL consoles, or by using a modchip. (Yes, modchips exist for Dreamcast.) Trying to find the original source I read from (National Console Support) but it's not there anymore. Other threads I tried to find disccuss that the game is playable using the bootloader. I don't have an original PAL copy myself, so there's no way to confirm whether it is true or not.

I don't know how to differentiate what Dreamcast system can / can't do what. I have 3 NTSC/U systems, manufactured in 1999, 2001 and 2002 respectively. All 3 can play backups, and can make use of the bootloader as well. I'm listing them in respective numbering. Some slight differences I can tell:
1. Can't boot certain backups. Certain titles that do like Soul Calibur missing introduction / glitchy sound. Made in China. 2. Backup reading success shoddy. Fine one day, not fine the other. Made in China. 3. The best. 100% read success using bootloader or backups. Made in Japan.
Now, these are hardly scientific finds, but they are too noticeable to not notice. My earlier statement about Shenmue II PAL using bootloader is just something I read from the NCSX site, which can be depended on for imports. However, all the forum posts I've read elsewhere say that running Shenmue II PAL on bootloader is fine. Again, I can't confirm or deny this, since I don't own a copy.
Damn, now I feel like firing up Shenmue again. Dreamcast has been hooked up to 2nd TV for a couple months now (for VOOT and 3rd Strike), just need to dig out the old Dreamcast catalogue.

QUOTE(hansapkuay @ Sep 1 2009, 12:59 AM) wow, this is heaven. anyone here finished all the street of rage trilogy?any review?sof vs final fight? What's sof? Streets of Rage you mean? I finished all 3 back then. On emu though. Only SoR2 was played on a MD. As for SoR vs FF, I prefer SoR mostly because of the variation in selectable charaters. They're not too different, but unique enough to have multiple playthroughs. Also, there's a slightly wider moveset in SoR, as you have 3 separate buttons to make use. FF only has attack and jump, while SoR has a 3rd special button. I played only the arcade version of FF btw. It was the king of scrolling beat em ups during the day. Huge sprites, 3 selectable characters and amazing backgrounds. The fight with Rolento on the elevator is a highlight for me. Now, if we're talking about the Super Famicom version? That's the gimped version (no Guy! no co-op!) I read about so much. It looks and plays like Final Fight alright, but is neutered to the point where it should be called Final Fight lite or something. Even NES games had co-op! Strictly speaking about the console version, this is the reason why I prefer SoR on MD over FF on SNES.

I messed around with Double Dragon I and II on PC first. The PC versions were based on the arcade version, not the NES version. No wonder I kept wondering what my friends were saying about the "helicopter level". I remember Double Dragon mostly from nostalgia, but the game mechanics became old once I started messing around with Capcom's stuff. Final Fight, Warriors of Fate, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Dungeons and Dragons and Alien VS Predator. All games I spent an embarassing amount of time playing either in arcades or emu. Too bad I never had a chance to try out Warzard. Don't think I ever saw that game locally.
