Chen + Prowler + Rethilgore is better...
Then you will get whacked by the pally teams... Added on May 28, 2009, 5:48 pmCan you imagine how nuts Lycanthropy will be on Chen?? lol. btw, here is a database of all the available wow minis atm. http://wowminisdb.net/Cards.aspx Added on May 28, 2009, 5:53 pm QUOTE(ahtiven @ May 28 2009, 05:41 PM) i need to talk to Jade xD Added on May 28, 2009, 5:41 pmbtw Aizuddin, congrats!! beating two ex-champions in a row!! wow! impressive. It was a dash of luck, and some chicken-shitz running once time was called.. thats how i beat them. This is my tournament report, that i posted to a private email wowtcg group. QUOTE Lol, it was insane. Damien Dufresne was my first round opponent. He was running the popular Lady Vashj team. I was playing Jaina, Elendril, Phadalus. When i arrived in Singapore, i didn't even have the figures, i bought the Elendril and Phad and borrowed the Jaina and the ABCs. I'd never playtested the team, and theorycrafted its effectiveness in the plane ride over. Damien was a real sport, being patient with me, and helping me through my first every competitive game (and my 3rd ever game of minis period). Somehow, the luck of the dice deserted him, and he lost on time by 1 VP. I was surprised that i won, most of the time i didn't know what i was doing, just rolling the dice whenever i was asked to. 1-0 Kelvin of Singapore was next, another long-time minis player. He walloped me nicely with another Lady Vashj team buffed by Rethilgore. I was getting the hang of things, but still just fumbling around mostly. 1-1 Then Pedro from the Philippines. Dont remember too many of the details, except he was running a popular build, double Harukas and Thangal. Again i just moved and rolled, moved and rolled, and.... won. 2-1 Can't remember the name of the 4th opponent, but i went to time, again... he was just too far behind to catch up. The team wasn't very good, and i remember one-shotting his figures everytime i opened fire. Not sure how he was a 2-1 team. 3-1 Ben Isgur was next. This game was actually the fastest game for me, all the other games went to time so far. The reason why it was fast: Ben was playing Minis solitaire, virtually. Every time it was his turn, he would move in a blink. Then when it was my turn, he would tell me exactly what my options were, and let me choose what to do. So i just did whatever he said i could do, then roll my dice. Dice rolls were nuts here, and everytime i hit, he seemed to miss. He was running a Kael'thas and double Hellcallers for the Heart Murmur synergy (that was truly janky, but it worked mostly). I won the game by cornering his Kael, if he went left, he would walk right into range of Elendril. If he went right, he walked right into Phadalus. Somehow my poor little Water Ele managed to kill his Hellcaller shield the turn prior. I think he was counting on my Water Ele not to roll a perfect hit + crit roll and he missing all his resist rolls. Thats what happened, his shield was gone, and left Kael to the wolves. 4-1 Corle Huffman, previous DMF champ was next. This game went to time too and it was a nailbiter. Midway through, i was down, i had no board position, his creatures had control of the VP, and my fellas were all dmged. His Lady Vashj (yes, another one) was at full health after receiving a max 5-die heal from his Troll, and one tick away from wiping out my Jaina and potentially another with some suitable rolls. But it was my turn, and i would have both my Elendril and Phadalus take their turns before his Vashj would be unleashed. So, ok, i take the shots, and the unthinkable happens. I roll 22 hits in a row. The crowd that had gather around us went all silent. Corle's draw dropped. I clear his board. Elendril rolls 6 dice (5+1 Jaina buff) on Lady Vashj. All hit and a couple of crits. Vashj is down to 6 health. I roll the follow up 4 dice (3+1 Jaina buff). All hit. Vashj is down to 2 health. Phadalus doesn't have Line of Sight on Vashj, so i take the shot on his Wavecaller mage. I roll 7 dice. All hit and a couple of crits. The Wavecaller dies instantly (he was already damaged a bit). The crit effect allows me to take a follow up roll on any enemy within 2 spaces... Lady Vashj is in range. I roll 5 dice. All hit. Vashj dies. 12 VP swing at a critical time. I swarm up to the VP just in time, claim another 2 VP, netting 14 uncontested VPs. He is never able to recover from that. Game goes to time. I run Jaina as far away from Vashj as possible, and use my Water Ele, Elendril + pet, Phadalus and a sea of totems as cover. He can't reach me in time. As a last act of defiance, he tries to finish Phadalus off who is low on health (even if Phad dies, he can't win). He rolls 5 dice. All miss. What can you say to that? There were 17 players, with one playoff match to cut into Top 16.
Then it was 16-8-4-2. So, with the playoff match, the total number of rounds were 5. |

Actually, 17 players qualified for the DMF Minis, there were qualifying rounds on Friday and Saturday. So there are quite a number of minis players actually, mostly from Singapore; not everyone who played in the qualifiers made it to the finals. Then it was 16-8-4-2. So, with the playoff match, the total number of rounds were 5. I really should have tried to qualify for it, but got stuck with TCG. This post has been edited by Tentris: May 29 2009, 09:01 AM |

Yep 17 players qualified for the DMF Minis. Oh, I assumed Stephen asked for the DMF Minis, not the qualifying round.
There were lots of qualifying rounds being played. But mostly 4-6 players. I think Jade got through from the last qualifying round |

Yeah, Jade swiped my team and played it to Top 8.
Minis actually... very different from TCG. Both require skill and luck, but since with Minis you can actually see the whole board, including what your opponent has, the tactical elements is actually a bit more intense than TCG. Just compare - playing poker vs playing chess. Its the same with minis... tcg vs minis. Completely different games which are damn fun for their own reasons. |

We should have a minis launch party at TB.
Do a 1-booster sealed event... everyone buys a booster, and builds a 2-figure party and we all play 2v2. A 1-booster event will help keep the costs low for people who want to try the game for the first time... Maybe i should apply to be take qualifications to be a minis judge... Added on June 1, 2009, 3:57 pm QUOTE(zio @ Jun 1 2009, 03:50 PM) Haha yep. Much as i hate to say it... but here in Malaysia, TCG/CMG is not a kid's game... its just too pricey.Woot, demo went quite well. RM50-60 a booster... that makes the hobby firmly an adult pastime... unless your dad is some rich dude. Better to focus on marketing the game to adults... The minis bug hit TB yesterday. A case of the minis were sold out within minutes... bring more lah... and go buy the uBases and dice from online, then resell to people lah.
http://www.warcraftgamingcenter.com sells the uBases and dice. Added on June 4, 2009, 12:38 pmThis weekend, i think TB got 1-booster sealed event. This will be a great place for people to try out the game... sealed is damn fun because you just focus on playing the game, rather than having to worry about constructing a party from scratch. But i think you guys got stiffed as far as the initial shipment of boosters go.
16 boosters, 8 from Core and 8 from Spoils, and not a single Epic from either set? wtf man. obviously whomever sold it to you gave you boosters from a case that they already had ravaged for the epics. Each case = 2 epics guaranteed. Its very common for some unscrupulous ppl to open boosters from that case until they hit the 2 epics, then resell off the remaining boosters. Its more profitable that way coz each epic can sell for 3x the price of a single booster! (unlike the TCG, all epics in minis are actually tournament worthy, therefore are in high demand). And if they get lucky and open the 2 epics from the case after just a few boosters cracked... gg. Anyways, whomever your supplier is, demand the other half of the cases you bought, or ask for 2 epics outright to be given to you. Otherwise its not only TB that is being shafted, its also your customers who are being shafted. This post has been edited by Tentris: Jun 4 2009, 02:00 PM |

I have no idea what happened there but since it was half and half, naturally, they would have to crack the case open and supply it to us. So it could have been an oversight from us. Unfortunately for us and the players, the epics weren't in the half they supplied to us. Not too sure if anyone was aware that they will be cracking loose boosters compared to "complete case boosters".16 boosters, 8 from Core and 8 from Spoils, and not a single Epic from either set? wtf man. obviously whomever sold it to you gave you boosters from a case that they already had ravaged for the epics. I believe the next shipment will be fresh cases. so whoever opens a new case, will definitely get the 2 epics. My only gripe is that no one hit a Panda. |

Still... opening 16 boosters and not a single epic last night = me a sad panda.
thats why always buy full cases, don't settle for any of this "half" stuff. and see if you can get your hands on the other 2 "halves" of the cases you already received... there should be guaranteed 4 epics there from 16 boosters! 1/4 chance of hitting an epic? yes pls!
