I kinda dun really agree with the article.
I presume unskilled Malaysian are cheaper than unskilled s'poreans. then why would employer wants to employ unskill s'porean if M'sian is cheaper.  It's all about your cost to the company, and the skills you offer to it.

Same goes to unskilled bangla, indon, etc in M'sia.  They are much cheaper.
*
LoL. Singaporean wouldn't want to work under that category. We all knew it very well. wink.gif

yup. my landlady just told me this morning that she wants to increase the rent to $450/mth.
and now, she's bringing ppl back to view my room  mad.gif
*
If per room sharing with another 1 more person, i wouldn't mind at all.
Moreover, how are you going to get a room in 2 weeks? Believe me, it is going to be tough for you. Find and move, I tried and get everything done for 3 weeks, it is real suffering.

QUOTE(saintcute @ Oct 15 2008, 08:58 PM)

*

Hello, does anybody know how to get the best exchange rate from Singapore Dollar to Ringgit Malaysia?

I was in Malaysia a few days ago and I have no clue on how to see the rate. cry.gif

I saw this at the money exchanger:
Buy Sell
2.35 2.40

What does it means? icon_question.gif How to get more when I exchange into Malaysian Ringgit? brows.gif
*
Buy - Meaning they buy your Singapore dollar for RM2.35
Sell - Meaning they sell Singapore dollar for RM2.40

Understand?

QUOTE(kmao @ Oct 29 2008, 12:47 AM)
hi everyone, it's first time i notice so many malaysian working in sinapore. well, i have a plan to work in singapore too but i dont have much confidence in competing with singaporeans since that i heard a lot blah blah working experiences from my friends. so i wish if anyone could kind enough to give a little advices to me, just any advices, i would appreciate that. smile.gif

well, i'm a fresh ICT degree graduate and had a 5 months internship in a MNC in malaysia, currently unemployed. i wonder would it be a wiser choice to work in KL as i have no working experiences, or i should go and try to get a job in singapore, as singaporean employers would not even bother to look at ICT fresh grads from malaysia.

umm, i appreciate any comments. thanks! smile.gif
*
Currently most of the company slowing down in hiring people.
Just try, dun lack of confidence. If you are lack of confidence, you for sure couldn't get a job.
Good Luck

@Joshua

thanks for that, but i'm worried i cant even survive a month in singapore with my savings, and that i wonder does sg companies pay more to fresh grad than companies in KL?

i mean, is that a wise choice for a fresh grad to start his career in SG rather than KL? or a fresh grad should get at 2 years working experience before trying luck in SG?
*
Don't worry. You can survive. If not, who bother come to Singapore and work?

Nah, Sg companies doesn't pay more than companies in kl. In KL, I can get RM2000-RM3800, fresh grad here too. In Sg, S$1800-S$2500. (OF COURSE, it is dollar to dollar, without convert it yet)

Why not? Start a career at any location isn't the main point at all. It is all up to your choice actually

Was it really necessary to cut & paste all the details?

Not cut & paste. I just copy & paste. tongue.gif
Reason is easy, he couldn't find information. At least he or other ppl who needed it doesn't need to click the link at all.
If you find it annoying, just inform me, I will remove it then

Hi all,
My sister who will graduate soon plans to go to work in Singapore. Can anyone tell me if the economy situation is really bad in Singapore?

A friend sent me this site and it sounds pretty scary in Singapore too.. doh.gif

The impact still not that hard yet, next year the impact will be stronger.

I can only see most of the corporate cutting cost, stop this expenses that expenses. Bigger company retrenched to lower down their cost, etc.....

Job vacancy are much lesser compare to last 2 years.... That 2 years till now is the best opportunity to find work.

No worries, just come to Singapore and look for job. My company looking for graphic&web designer.

I just bought tiger airways flight ticket too. My flight's at 2050 hours and the itinerary says to check in at 1850. Must check in so early?? I'm worried that I can't make it coz I knock off work at 6pm sweat.gif
*
To be safe, it is always advisable to check in 2 hours before flight. The check in counter will usually close 40 minutes before flight. So, you check in 1 hour before flight is okay. smile.gif
