Hi all... guess everyone is still in CNY mood... no time for bonsai.!!!
Anyway i have, a questions, below photo i took yesterday during my CNY visitations to one of my friends.
He say its a black pine, wanna ask your expert opinion if its a Japanese Black Pine... rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

That looks more like a Long Leave Pine - Pinus palustris which can be easily grown in hot weather.
You can always check out the difference between Japanese Black Pine - Pinus thubergii and Pinus palustris from the internet.

That is the common characteristic of cheap Fukien Tea from China.
The cuts and scars that can never grow back.
You can try scrapping off the rotten part, treat with sulfur lime solution and brush and cover
with a layer bituminous compound to prevent water from entering the woody part of the stem.

Hi OldKidz,

Go get some materials and start keeping them alive would be the first step..
materials = bonsai materials. Can get Boxwood or shui mui. I would recommend as they are the easiest to stay alive..which is good to begin with...

Zabel

You are doing very well.
However the is quite gap between the apex and the first branch.
you can bend the lower branch up as suggested, this is not only make it
look balance but also shorten it.

A TRIP TO " HO MIN YUEN"

First of all I would like to correct a mistake which is unintentionally make all the time.

Attached Image

It's "MIN HOE YUEN" BONSAI NURSERY. We got it "up side down" blush.gif

This is my Melaka bonsai buddy - young, dyminic, enterprising and full of potential. rclxms.gif

Attached Image

Min Ho Yuen bonsai nursery was actually on a single piece of land of approx. 5 acres.
A Pokok Mangga double lanes drive way was built cutting right through it and now it's divided
into 2 sections.
I visited the first section of Min Ho Yuen under the guide of my buddy Zabel. Accroding to him this is the place
where we can actually buy some materials of reasonable prices. So we move on...

Attached Image A welcome gazebo at the entrance.

Lots of old and gigantic junipers
Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

Attached Image West Indian Cherry

Attached Image Cascading Juniper Precumben.

Attached Image Some young black pine. Not sure is Japan or China?

After buying 2 nos of young black pine, a round lotus pot and a bottle of bark growing hormone, we process
to the second section of Min Hoe Yuen.
This is a "must" visit section.

Attached Image The entrance, looks nothing extra ordinary. ohmy.gif

Once enter, it's another world.... shocking.gif drool.gif

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

Attached Image Cascading Buddha Pine Attached Image Causurina

Attached Image Brazilian Rain Tree Attached Image

And hundreds of "shui mui"

Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image

If your are looking for large and gigantic bonsai materials, this s the place.
If you have a big garden and look for bonsai style landscape materials, this is definitely the place. icon_rolleyes.gif

A VISIT TO MIN HOE YUEN - "Forwards"

After making an appointment with my Melaka bonsai buddy to meet the next morning at
a place beside a supermarket early in the morning, I started my journey down and arrived
at the appointed location a little earlier, and at that moment the call of mother nature was high,
and so I just parked my car beside the super-mart and answer to the "high" call at the toilet of the mart.
It took about 3 mins+ and I came out....

Attached Image ...alamak ! a rm 100 parking summon !

The MPMB parking officer was still around, and so I asked him why he issued me such an expensive summon,
I went off for a short while just to go to toilet only. Without speaking a words, he shown me the double yellow lines just beside my car.
I can't argue anymore and just drove my car to a parking lot nearby.
Immediately I moved my car, another 2 cars moved in and parked at the same location that I have just parked.

Attached Image .. and the people left their cars and enter the super-mart.
The MPMB car parking officer was there, just looked on. At this instant I just can't tolerated anymore
and I walked over and asked the officer why these cars were not issued summons and only issued mine.
This fellow, he just ignored me and walked away and disappeared himself at a corner of the building.
When I looked at the 2 cars, they are Melaka plates. Then I began to realize..... hmm.gif
Do Melaka cars have special privileges ? Definitely - NO!
I think this MPMB officer is waiting for the car owners to come out and ask for coffee money for not issuing
summons to their cars, as for mine, I'm from oustation, so he give me the most expensive summon to show
his superior that he is doing his job! vmad.gif mad.gif mad.gif vmad.gif

SO, THIS IS ONE MALAYSIA ! OR ONE MELAKA? vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif
