I'm into bonsai as well but sadly most of my bonsai don't survive for long. I still have about 3 healthy bonsai now. Will take some photos and post it up soon. I'm thinking of getting some bonsai for CNY. I use to buy some at those temporary shops normally at a Tesco or Giant parking lot but I don't see them anymore. All of this shops are normally from China and they will come, sell all the bonsai and then close shop. Their prices are pretty reasonable too. Is san fong prices comparable to them? I'm located in Klang so thinking of making a trip to san fong today.

Well my last few bonsai cost around 100 - 300 bucks. I think I am comfortable with those price range. No bonsai materials there. Maybe some pots and bonsai ornaments.

Oh no wonder they keep dying.... hahaha. That explains a lot. I thought it was because I didn't know how to take care of them.

Will take your advice. So best place to go is san fong? I also saw 1 or 2 shops along the infamous sungai buloh road. What do you think of those places?

Hi zabel,

I bought this as well and had mine set up last saturday. In order for you to spray the plant more evenly, you need to raise the dripper with the stand provided. Just stick the stand into the soil and raise the dripper so that when water comes out, it will spray a bigger area.

I also bought 2 misters which will spray all my bonsais at one go. Hope this helps

This evening, took 3hrs to complete hook up the auto watering system for my bonsai :-
The arrival of parcel from Penang..

Inside the contain, all in order...

The parts i bought for 40 pots...

Hook up the auto timer to the mains....

Here's how it look after hook up...
[attachmentid=3315633]
Another view...
[attachmentid=3315650]
The overall view after hookup... looks ugly with the tubes around the pots... cry.gif  cry.gif  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

My comments, it works as of now, i wonder how long will it last, the tubes under the sun i think wouldn't last long, and also one dripper is not enough for one pot, as it tends to water on the spot only, the other side of the pots not watered, ie. no even watering, unless you put 2-3 dripper in one port to ensure even watering ... but then would increase the price. i put it on Auto mode... lets see tomrrow it will do the work properly or not... whistling.gif  whistling.gif  rclxms.gif

I need help! My cucur atap and my other bonsai was doing fine last week and today when I saw it my cucur atap has turn brownish yellow and my other bonsai is shedding leaf. I dont know what is wrong. Can someone let me know what I can do to save my bonsai. I have an automatic sprinkler which waters it 4 times a day so I dont think that is an issue.

Thanks for your feedback. I think my cucur attap became like this from insufficient water! I just found out my watering system ran out of batteries! I hope it will survive.

Sanfong people told me the cucur attap needs lots of water and thats why i increase the watering frequency. It was doing very well for a good 6 months with the system

Hi elmer,

I think it has all to do with over watering. It has been raining almost everyday + the auto watering 4 times a day is definitely too much water for any potted plant.
Sorry to say that your cucur attap seen quite impossible to be saved now. And your other 2 plants have all the symptoms of roots attacked by the pathogenic root rotting fungi due to over watering or soil waterlogged.

For the ficus and premna, change the soil materials to more porous type and watering once a day is more than sufficient.
You might need to cut short all the branches in order to stimulate new growths after re-potting.

This is Thailand small leaves Murraya.
This specie require half sun condition. I think you must have hurt the roots during repotting or over application of fertilizer or completely dried up for a period.

Thanks for the comments bonsai lelong. During repotting i didnt even remove the old soil. Just took the whole plant out and put in the new pot with soil and all. Waterong every day and indirect sun. Not sure what happened
