Finally, i have subscribe D68 & the speed at my house is full bar HSDPA, so i went to upgrade to D98. After that, i cant connect since last night after upgrade. When i contact celcom centre, they told me that my application still in progress due to today off day then have to wait until Monday.

my question is anybody experience the unusable period during upgrade?

blame yourself. there is no upgrade d68 --> d98. register new d98. u get new sim. free 5 days testing. billing start days 6. If stastify then terminate old d68. u know terminate line very fast, register new line take days.

there are many case celcom upgrade billing to d98 but not the speed. good luck.

My experience upgrade from D68 to D98 at 18-8-09, my modem disconnected within 1 hr, and I reconnect and speed up to 1.8Mbps
No need to change sim card or pay anything there, they will bill RM10 in the bill next month.

You shouldn't have upgraded, just register for new D98. Can get the SIM card on the spot and activated within 24 hours. Mine was activated within 6 hours.
Not trying to pour cold water on you, but they take very slow progress on upgrading service.
Perhaps, digilife can explain better as he did encounter such situation, ended up he just registered a new D98.

I found that D98 package mine it's hard to hold a long connection it will auto DC after starting downloading at full speed stuck after 300MB some ip range it will auto hang have to dc and reconnect back. Suspect new way of throttling

I haz subscribed to the Celcom Executive postpaid account - currently subscribing for daily unlimited, from the info at Celcom's website, for postpaid subscribers, they could get HSDPA connection, unlike prepaid users.

just wanna confirm what D package that I should subscribe later - if no HSDPA signal at my place, I'll subscribe to the D68 instead of D98.

where is your location ?

Everyone can get HSDPA speed regardless on prepaid or postpaid, it is based on the coverage. If your area has HSDPA, then you will get HSDPA signal.

Since you said you are on UMTS, it means only UMTS, no matter you subscribe to D68 or D98, it will detect as UMTS only. D68 is with 3G speed but if in HSDPA area, it will detect as HSDPA just that the speed is capped to 384kbps.

You can get an Huawei E220 modem for less than RM 350 nowadays, that is the best bang of buck, if you ask me.
Unlocked to 7.2Mbps speed.
