Or any other suggestions for a compact camera.

what is the diferent between LX, FX and TZ?

Yo guys, need a bit of help here.
I used to own a Lumix FX01 model and I had a spare batt for my cam.
Now, I own a Lumix LX3.

So, my question is:
1) Is the spare batt compatible with my new cam?
2) The current and voltage ratings are the same for both batts, and the model no is the same (CGA-S005E).
3) Will old batts cause any problems with my new cam?

Thank for answering these few Qs smile.gif

The LX3 is called an "enthusiast's camera".
Same category as Canon's G9.
Basically it is in the compact category (bcoz of its size), but it is the closest u will get to DSLR quality and controls in a smaller package.

Added on September 11, 2008, 12:24 amYo King of King owners,
I need your kind help to indentify a certain defect on my cam.
Not sure if it is inherent on all LX3s.
I noticed a huge distortion problem on the upper corners of my photos.
The distortion is so bad that when taking photos of people, they look disfigured. cry.gif

If u guys r having the same problem, plz do let me know.
If this is really a lens problem, I need to send it back ASAP to get it changed bcoz i'll b heading to HK in 1 month.
PLease see the attached photos and thank you for all your comments!

Well to get more info you could log on to Panasonic Malaysia, camera
division and compare them.

It depends what sort of camera and budget you have.
Some might have telephoto lenses while others have
more wider lenses with better F/stops for low light condition.

Really,it depends on what sort of Photography you want to capture
and where you stand with your Money..hehe.

The distortion is due to the lens being a wide angle (24mm). It is normal for a wide angle to have that kind of skew.

Yes, buying is not that much of a problem.
But i have to see if the telephoto end is more
important or the wider lenses with better f/stops.

Presently i am using a Nikon D50 with...
12-24mm Tokina f4 lens (great colours)
28-200mm Nikon G lens (very good lens)
50mm 1.8 Nikon Lens (cheap but good)
SB600 Nikon Flash

But you know what sometimes you wished you had a pocket camera,so that
you at times you dont need to lug all the above, which weighs a ton...hehe.

Will be traveling next month for a Month long vacation and sometimes i think a
compact camera with wide angle lens with better f/stops might do the job easily!.

Well have a month to think, maybe the price for Panasonic cameras will drop to a more
affordable level... smile.gif

Right, i get it using my 12-24mm Tokina.
But nothing that a good software cannot fix.

I don't know how much others can give but I was quoted RM1540 (4GB) last week by my seller. Of course, I have spent more than a lot buying DSLR and videocam stuff from him.

Boeing offered me 1650.

The girlfriend is very interested too but she's torn between K20D and the LX3...

Yo, thanks ionstorm!
Still quite noob at PP.
hhaha.... tongue.gif

But then after lens correction, basically u need to crop the photo rite?

Anyway, I am still not very convinced this is something that should happen.
I previously owned a FX01, and there was no such distortion throughout the 2 years I've used it.
Now I see a couple of quite serious case of distortion in the 1st month of using the LX3. cry.gif

Other LX3 owners noticed this occurance?
