P/S this issue happens to me also when I want to buy specific brand... but the dealer keep wanting me to buy other... only i found out that most electric shop`s supplier(panasonic, LG, samsung etc) give sales target rebat for them and say they have hit target for say LG(100k rebate 5%) so they wont fight sales for LG and will fight for other brand say(current target is 90k and another 10k to hit target 5%) :/

Added on May 8, 2011, 6:12 pmin the nutshell, if you want price competitiveness, good after sales & service, not particular about miscelaneous marketing gimmicks.... York would be an ideal choice.....
*
That is true. I don't listen to those sale guy and direct ask for the model price that I m already decide.

If they can give me the best price, I will take. If they bla. bla, bla or raise something that I need to rethink, I just go back and do some research again. Internet and forum here give me plenty of true information and spec than the sale guy.

Mitsubishi have many many product. And no surprise if you see a Mitsubishi pencil or pen product in market.

Doesn't matter which department produce the aircon.

I'm planning to get an aircond for my living room. Living in small terrace house, with approximately 160 sqft in the living room, connected to kitchen, but got some arch-type pathway in between. Will close all other rooms' doors & blinds at the front.

I live in Kangar, Perlis, thus the weather is really hot & unforgiving. So after doing some research, I've decided to get a non-inverter 1.5 hp aircond. My daily usage would be like this:

5 hrs every weekdays from 7pm-12am
~12 hrs every weekend from 12pm-12am

So which brand I should get? Many people say York, some say Panasonic?

Thanks for helping out.

PS - With my current average electricity bills around ~RM40, after getting this aircond, how much is the increment you guys think?
*
Get the panasonic. Probaly your bill will be double.

The hot weather make us appreciate our aircon more. Last week i decided take a good
look at my room a/c panasonic 1hp. The air flow is coming from one side only and quite
weak. After poking around managed to remove the outer cover and exposed the fan, coil
and water tray. It was last full serviced 1 year ago but i was shocked at the condition inside.
the blower fan blades was covered by furry dirt. Some areas of the coil looks like a mushroom farm
but the most disgusting was the slime and jelly dripping from the cooling coil into the water tray.
Our aircon looks nice and clean outside but inside it is a germ factory and we breath the air every night.
Anyway i bought some non toxic aircon cleaning spray from hardware shop and clean the aircon myself
First time so a bit messy but results quite good. Cold and strong air after service. cost me RM30.00
only . Got 2 more units to clean another day.
Manufacturers recommend service every 3 mths but i feel 6mth minor service and every year
full chemical service is minimum for good health. (also buy a separate air purifier for added protection)
*
I always use dettol or any antibacterial cleaner to spray at the condenser to clean it. Doing this every month when clean the filter.

And tilt the aircon more to the drain pipe. So the condense water don't remain at the drainer and dry fast.

RM75 for inverter service!! That's freaking unbelievable. I really don't believe it. Can you reconfirm? My model is Panasonic Envio Inverter.

I'm wary of aircon service offer cos most of them are scam. Really hate them.
*
There is no different service with inveter or non inverter aicon. Price should be the same. Mind too is Panasonic Envio Inverter. Maybe he charge cheaper cause all my office aircon service by him. Probally your 1 is more expensive. tongue.gif

It quite difficult to find a good aircon service guy. This guy also so so only. But at least he don't cheat me about the gas refill thing and honest.

Ask him don't open the outdoor cover to service. Just spray chemical and clean. My experience is, the outdoor unit become loud sound after service. Think they not instal back properlly.

Cheap woh.

Did he dismantle the unit out and wash everything? My usual A/C service fellow will take out the indoor unit wash clean clean including the blower.  Think his charges are above 100++
*
Same procedure. Include outdoor unit and clean.

I use this for the indoor unit DIY Cleaning.  Less dusty as the indoor unit is not dismantled.
*
I did try this DIY last few month ago. Took me half day to do it. The cleaning process is quite ok.

But the blower side still not 100% clean. Cause the spray nozzle difficult to reach inside deep even it long and bend.

For the price to buy the whole set and later on the chemical....eh...I think better get the service guy. biggrin.gif

The trick is to get a hand held pump pressure spray and remove the entire plastic frame (remove 3 screws).  Then you can get to most part of the coils and the spray pressure a lot better.  Pretty easy once you get the hang of it  biggrin.gif
*
I have this pressure pump for garden spray. I usually use to spray clean the aircon evaporator coil too. But the nozzle not long enough to reach the blower. Even open up the cover.

The slow air flow mostly cause by the dirt stuck at the blower fin.

The blower bearing need to be wash and clean too. Dust usually collect in that area. I saw the service guy dismantle all the things wash every single things that are washable (non electronic parts)
Becarefull. Fews more time open, all the sound coming out. I rather they don't touch too much the movement parts.

Thats what I used to do previously except a full 110 bars of pressure onto the coil  rclxm9.gif  Kind of messy with water all over the floor.

Get a manual pressure sprayer (google for images).  Gets everything off the evaporator coil.  For the blower if its not terribly dirty a soft bristle brush will be able to get lots of the dirt off.  Else mount a plastic bag (like the one in the DIY link earlier) and use the sprayer onto the blower.  It works pretty well.  Been doing the powered sprayer for over 5 years and this method more than a year now.  A monthly cycle (15 mins) is all it takes to keep the evaporator coil clean.
*
That is my purpose to get the DIY. The long spray nozzle and the bag is what attract me. And I thaught can unscrew the nozzle and put at the pressure pump. But not match. sad.gif The big bag is very usefull.

Above rates are for what air conditioner output? Inverter or conventional air conditioner?
R410A and R22 are different in price. Typical inverter air conditioners are running on R410A refrigerent. Why is the service charges the same between inverter and conventional air Conditioner.
The price not include gas refill. You don't need refill gas every time service the aircon.

Have you brought the aircon already? Have you show the aircon or manual to the contractor what wiring and tube need to be use?
