after calculate the total BTU, my master room requires slightly more than 1.5HP but less than 2.0 HP. Shall i go for 1.75HP as i know Panasonic has 1.75HP Inverter
*
More is better. And if control by inverter, your bill will be lower some more.

Does R410a save more energy than R22 ?
Does Daikin Inverter air cond with R22 save as more energy as other Inverter air cond with R410a?
*
R410a gas is not about improve or anything relate to aircon. It is enviroment friendly gas where related to ozone. The R22 is going to absolute and later will ban from using once gov impose on it. When fully change to R410a.

Hi all,

Have you all wondered why the refrigerator once bought no need to service refrigerant for many2 years, but if aircond always kena pay extra to add refrigerant...... When doing servicing.... I would imagine the concept to be the same.
*
Aircon is service cleaning. No need add gas. If told you need add gas everytime do the servicing, either con you or the piping is leaking. Retify the leaking piping.

5 years? Then it must be very expensive that time when you bought. smile.gif I'm still looking air-cond for my new house... Still hanging around Sharp/Midea/Daikin inverter...
*
I m early user of inverter aircon. Many local here still doubt and negative thinking about inverter aircon. But oversea, inverter is popular. It is not new technology. We adopt slow only.

The price is not much different compare now. 1.5hp cost me rm1.4k+ with free service. Promotion that time.

Re Aircon installation

Hi All, I suspect my aircon's water pipe was not install in proper way, please see attached photos here.  my contractor did it horizontally instead of vertically....somemore he connect it to the main paip... :S
*
Correct wat. The pipe already have some slighty angle down to the outside main pipe. The water will flow out without any problem.

Just makesure the joint to the outside main pipe seal properly. You don't want shit water leak out.

Oh ya, if that is a shit pipe, maybe the shit smell will come out from the aircon pipe when dry. And worst, the shit bacteria will spread to your room.

You have a problem.

Copper pipe is brazing. Not solder or weld. Dont bend it I agree. Warp the outlet with muskin tape and outdoor side put plastic bag. Get your AC installer to vacuum kao kao during installation. Just leave it there and dont cut. Poor brazing work will result in leakage. What they do in factory is that after they braze the will usually test the brazing point with a 450 to 600 psi pressure depending on pipe thickness. I doubt that your AC man can do that. Do not cut.
*
Oh my, you remember me back when I work in 1 of the aircon manufacturing. Yes the process of condenser(indoor) and evaporator (outdoor) is brazing the copper pipe together. Than pump high pressure air into it and put into the fish tank. Check for the bubble leakage. Than take back and repair again. Even we using this method of checking on the compressor.

QUOTE(Zaryl @ Nov 18 2012, 10:06 PM)
Ok guys, need input from you on my aircond calculation:

So I plan to buy:
1x 1HP Panasonic - in master bedroom (15 x 12 ftsq)
1x 2.5HP Panasonic - in living room (25 x 12 ftsq)

All are using inverter technology. Also, the height of my house is 11 ft.

So base on the following calculation:

0.76kW x 8hr x 30d = 182.4kW = 182.4 x RM0.40 (assuming it's the current rate) = RM73

inverter
Panasonic 2.5HP - living room

1.9kW x 8 x 30 = 456kW = RM182.40

Total = RM255.40
Assuming 35% saving from Panasonic's website = RM255.40 - RM90 = RM165.40
plus with my other utilities ( fridge, tvs, etc) = RM165.40 + ~RM45 = ~RM210.40

Is this calculation correct?

Thanks sifus!  smile.gif
*
In theory yes. But in practical use, no. You are calculate in full hp running. But actual running is in vary speed.

True, but I will install a wardrobe that will occupy some 2ft from the width. So will make the room become smaller, although not very significant.  tongue.gif
So this means the actual average monthly bill might be LOWER than what I've been calculating? Furthermore, I'm not really gonna use the aircond in whole 30days. Maybe certain day I will use <8hrs or maybe just using fan during cold weather.  smile.gif

Let say if I try to make the living room more darker + cooler eg. putting some heavy windows tinting ( I won't get trouble from local authorities right? Like heavy tinting on our car windows, later kena summon by JPJ  tongue.gif ) + installing really thick, dark colored curtains would help a lot in making the room cooler; less load for the aircond to run no?
*
Seal the gap door and windows. You can tinted the window as dark as you want. Insulate the ceiling. This all will lower down your bill.

You need to find out what is the hp aircon suitable to your room. Not by feeling. Get wrong hp will not save your bill.

Set the temperature higher and put it in auto mode will help save a lot.

Your bill will run below rm100 for both aircon if you get it right.

hi all, have some questions

my existing AC is old, pretty old in fact, but came with the condo

issue is that after servicing/cleaning and also gassing up, it runs cold for a while, then after that just blows room temp air out. is there a problem somewhere that can be fixed, without replacing the entire unit?

also, any trustworthy AC guys out there that can be recommended?
*
Consider change the whole aircon. Continue use and repair can cost you a new aircon.

Anyone knows what to do with the old unit? In Malaysia is there a rule on ways to dispose the old aircon? Or normally you guys trade in?

Thanks!
*
Take it to scrapyard and sell it.

My old aircon still worth RM120 when sell to scrapyard.

I'm buying some AC units for the new house, copper piping has been provided by the developer so I'm looking for a recommended AC installer only.

Will most likely buy 6 or 7 units of 1.5hp inverter AC myself. I personally prefer Hitachi but it looks like there are a lot more options for Panasonic inverter AC.

I went through several pages of this thread but didn't see any contact info. Can someone recommend an AC installer in the Puchong area? Thanks.
*
If you go through several pages, you also need to understand the copper pipe size that can suit what HP aircon and type.

York - Cold down very faster, but compressor getting noisy after 1 year.

I won't buy york and ascon. My working place is using this 2 brand because of cheap. It is a crap aircon. Noisy and even the compressor more noisy. Lifespan average 4-5yrs.
