Beko machines used to be sold as "Europa" by Kee Huat Radio here, they are made in Turkey. Ours died after 12 years with a failing water pump / timer (program control) + weakening motor and with no spares available.
Before you buy any washing machine, do check on the service availability locally. Online reviews on customer service cover for overseas market and is not exactly applicable to us. As I still remember waiting for nearly 3 weeks for the rubber gasket for our "Europa" machine to be flown in from UK and we replaced the gasket ourselves. The part was from "Beko" |

Hi GUYS n GIRLS...
im new to this washing machine forum, need some advises from u friends since i need to look for new machine now.. well currently we using ELECTROLUX FRONTLOADER.. my dad bought it on 13/10/2001, not sure with what price.. After 11 years used, just today the machine's drum not spinning. I have no idea what could be the issue...already contacted technician, coming tomorrow to check it out... first time dealing with washing machines, so when i looked on this brand my first impression was bad, i asked my mom why never go for samsung/panasonic/thosiba maybe could have last longer...when i started to explore then i got to know ELECTROLUX one of the top.. good reviews from users.. so now i feel the machine i have now not under rated 1... the 11 years life span is the solid proof... in case that drum cant be repaired, i would happily go after ELECTROLUX FRONTLOADER again, 2001 machine manual, now 2012 should be more advance...Need to check the prices now.. Any other brands you guys suggesting ? This post has been edited by GHOSTVIC: Jul 24 2012, 11:26 PM |

Hi Just wanna ask, I can see that the top load got until 15kg-16kg. I figure that with this size, there should not be a problem washing king size quilt and some bulky item.
What is the suitable front load size that are able to wash king size quilt? And is there a different meaning for Top Load (kg) and Front Load (Kg) stated. Top load u can see 7,9,10,12,15,16kg... but for front load is only 7, 8, 9, 10. I think LG front load have something higher. |

I figure that with this size, there should not be a problem washing king size quilt and some bulky item. Check the spec that have this kind of washing. Or see the dial have this function or not. LG have 14kg max load for front loader. 12kg can wash queens size quilt. What is the suitable front load size that are able to wash king size quilt? I think LG front load have something higher. But some WM have lower kg but can wash quilt. Cause the drum is bigger. |

I just checked my 11 years old ELECTROLUX frontloader, EW548F 5KG...
my dad bought it for RM1500, and its imported made in ITALY... no wonder can last that long... another neighbour using same brand different model, almost 20 years still in good condition she told...maybe my mom overloaded the machine instead of 5kg load... And checked at SENG HENG, for electrolux where current products made in Thailand... im not sure how long it gonna last, ya for cut cost purpose everything made at CHINA THAILAND INDONESIA VIETNAM... but why the price still high.. just because their past background has good remarks where things were made abroad... How about getting PANASONIC, 10KG member price 2500 i heard, is it worth buying ? This post has been edited by GHOSTVIC: Jul 25 2012, 08:32 PM |

If going for front loading, suggest you look for Induction or Inverter Motor, the standard motors used on this machines are Universal Motor which is very noisy during spin. I am currently using Panasonic, after replacing our previous Front Loading machine which also lasted for about 11 years.
If drum not spinning, but you can hear the motor working then it could be the belt snapped off. Can be DIY if you want. if the belt has snapped then you need to get it from Electrolux, chances are they may have stock. |
