I'm in the midst of looking for a fridge too. I saw the fridge with freezer at the bottom (can't remember which model). I didn't like it coz from what i see..i can't properly stack the tupperwares. Furthermore, space is lost as there's no space at the door unlike top freezer, there's additonal space at the door.

I actually like the freezer at the bottom. But in terms of reliability, energy saving, etc, which is the best, do you say? Toshiba vs Panasonic, anyone?
*
It is very subjective and depend on individual experience.

I myself using panasonic fridge for over 10yrs. Very reliable and no issue at all. If ask me to get another fridge, I will choose panasonic defineatly.

Is there any fridge more than 550L and have energy saving? Oh yea, freezer on top pls...  Finding long time but no answer yet. :'(
*
there's lots of fridges more than 550l with energy saving in them. panasonic NR-BY551XS is 551l and NR-BY601XS at 602l and both uses inverter to help save the electric.
mitsubishi and hitachi have a few models that are supposed to help save electric by optimizing the compressor.
the sharp french door are supposed to help save electric by keeping half of the coldness inside when you open one of the side doors.

you can try finding the annual electricity cost of the particular model from the singapore goverment site. they tested a lot of models compared to malaysia.

the additional pockets at the door are a waste of space in my use. i can't seem to stack anything in there. there's just nothing tall to freeze.
but if you compare the nett storage space of freezer on top and bottom freezer, bottom freezer usually have a larger space compared to top models. panasonic fridges with freezer drawer is a godsend for our home because we store a lot of small, loose items. but yeah tupperwares are harder to stack inside.

Thinking of re painting my fridge to give it a new look. Should I use the usual spray paint from the can or is there a special paint for fridge? Thanks for your input wink.gif

Yes. There are quite a number of them. I was thinking about having this but then with built in fridge, you need to have additional ventilation unit(usually on the top cabinet above the fridge) for it to work effectively. Then you have to consider what if the ventilation unit fails and your fridge will have issue. It is not worth it for the nice integrated look. Instead I got a nice mirror door fridge which looks nice to be displayed biggrin.gif

Consider buying a refrigerator with a top-mounted freezer.
Models with top-mounted freezers use 10–25% less energy than bottom-mount or side-by-side models.

My question :
Even nowadays with Inverter technology, bottom-mount models is still using 10-25% more energy than top-mounted freezer??

Wanted to buy those with bottom freezer from mitsubishi
but the salesman tell me that top freezer more enery saving
plus compressor also last longer. Summore
the space not as much as top freezer.

Finally bought it because the glass effect looks cool. laugh.gif

hi all,

is samsung fridge good? durable?

last month i book a toshiba GR-R35MD (gross 350liter, net capacity 275L), but just saw a samsung RT41RSTS (gross 410L, net 337L) with 5-star energy rating (which means i can claim rm200 for energy saving from government), after discount almost same price with the Toshiba i booked.

same amount of $$ (samsung higher rm100, but i can claim rm200 back), i get bigger storage compartment. is it worth? But samsung dont have so much fancy fancy feature as the Toshiba (plasma deodorizer lah, UV fresh guard lah, etc etc). But the Toshiba dont have the 5-star energy rating label (so i assume it is more power hungry than the samsung, though it is smaller size?).

any sifu use samsung fridge? or this model is actually going to phase out, they sell cheap cheap to clear stock?

another thing, when they put 5-star energy rating label on the fridge, does that means it is more energy save than those no label fridge (with the same amount of volume capacity)??

I bought GR-R35MD because of UV fresh guard only.... been using for 7 mths now... happy with it. No noticeable increase in electricity than my old pana 170L fridge.

No comment on samsung fridge... never use before.
