The reference 4850 card with reference cooler when you set the fan to 50%-55%; the temp is also similar for idle. However, I notice mine the core will go down to 500mhz. I wonder the reference card is the same as well or not.

If it is the same, then probably the GS's cooler do not have any differences with the reference cooler.

Added on August 27, 2008, 10:07 pmbtw after some googling i think 4870x2 is much more better than 4870 CF just by 3-10FPS i think  (in most games, some games 4870 CF got higher FPS), cons of using 4870 CF, u need a good CF mobo, use 4 PCIE and comes with 2 version 512mb or 1gb mem speed!! 4870x2 use only 2 PCIE power and it comes with 2gb mem speed..

Currently there is no OCed/Custom 4870x2 but for 4870 there is GS n Turbo!

i have huntkey vpower 550 psu, can i install ati 4870 on it?

I can tell you that my 4850GS when the fan in the dynamic mode, the temp is no no!  I'm definately sure that even it is a customer cooler, the dynamic mode sucks. I think maybe it got to do with the BIOS not intellegent enough to rev up the fan to 55%-60% during full load or something.

I have to use gainward's tool to set the fan always running at 55%. Then the temp will be 55c idle. 70-75C full load. So, the fan will be always running at 55% even it is on idle @ 500mhz. I'm not sure about others that have use 3rd party cooler running on dynamic mode.

celciuz is having the same card with mine and i believe the probs don't lie in the core/mem clocks.. Right celciuz?

Anyone using Gainward 4850GS and have the same problem as Desmond1310? PC crashes on certain games etc?

I was wonder whether is the heat since the card got no heatsink on RAM and VRM. I hope it is software related issue and not the card because I'm planning to get the GS soon.
