I did encounter this once or twice when I first fired up my 4850. But then until now still not yet encounter it. All black screen for a while then suddenly comes back right? Using P43 chipset here.

ghost321, E8400 + 4850 biggrin.gif. Rest pretty much normal stuffs. Not yet benchmark or anything yet... Now trying to solve my PSU thingy first =/

squall_12, mine always run at 55% even when I reboot. Using CCC8.8 though. 8.8 released 1 day after I assembled my PC.. so I don't know if the previous version reset or not.

Yes, was in aircond room. Took another just now, aircond is not turned on since the weather is pretty nice (after a short rain).

danieljoey, I'm using CM690 with the stock fans. 3 12cm (1 exhaust, 2 intake) and 1 8cm blowing at the back of the processor.

Quite satisfied with the performance of the cooler though, I know there's even better ones coming... those zalman fitted and accelero fitted.

But then, I removed the GC today, at the bottom got sort of err parts that aren't as "shiny" as the rest. The "shiny" layer gone due to the heat? =/

From the bottom of the card? The back wor? The area that has the "shiny" thing gone is all the hot area.. the pwm and the sockets area =/

QUOTE(NetRaid @ Aug 23 2008, 03:28 AM)
YES bro, clever observation. But it's not the heatpipe that makes Gainward special. It's our design & engineering. You'll be surprised how much a twitch here and there can improve the performance of our cards. Wait for the benchies soon. Bet it'll knock your socks off!  drool.gif

BTW, to all Gainward 4850 Golden Sample owners, we will have something special for you soon, to further improve the performance & durability of your card. Please wait for the announcement here.  icon_idea.gif

Finally started installing some real games and guess what, my system cannot play GRID nor Crysis! Both got artifacts all over T_T. Using Gainward 4850 GS, now I'm in the same boat as Kaellis.

Any other Gainward 4850 Golden Sample users here?

mobo prob can get artifacts wan ar?
*
QUOTE(AMDAthlon @ Aug 24 2008, 02:46 AM)
Eh..Never heard before..Artifacts causes by Heat of the graphic card,Connection failure,VRAM dies..etc anything is possible..
*
Using Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3, any known compatibility issue? Heat is definately not a problem for my system.. since full load on Furmark is about 54 or so.

Weird is, I can run 3dmark06, furmark, atitool, cabal, eve-online without no problem at all. But artifacts appear on Crysis and GRID. What other games should I try out?

QUOTE(zhen^wei @ Aug 23 2008, 11:59 PM)
u can't play wat games at the moment ? using ATI 8.8 ?
if ATI 8.7 got problem or nto.
*
Using 8.8 got problem, the one provided in the CD also got problem. I don't know if it is 8.7 or 8.6... Forgot to check.. currently running on 8.8.

So far can't play Crysis and GRID... Too much artifacts.

@celciuz, i think thats only for u...most of us no issue with ccc 8.8

Some update on my Gainward 4850 Golden Sample, wasn't the driver problem... Instead was my DirectX. I reinstalled with the June 2008 redistributable and everything was working fine rclxms.gif Phew lucky thing not hardware problem else shocking.gif

Anyways, LiMcZ's system should can score higher. Unless the CPU is bottlenecking.

at 700/2200, mine was almost able to hit 13k.

Added on August 24, 2008, 7:27 pmjust saw your previous post. How come you can get 13k+ with the same rig like mine?

I don't know? Hmm, will post a 3dmark06 benchmark SS in a while. Playing Crysis tongue.gif now biggrin.gif

QUOTE(lotiman2003 @ Aug 24 2008, 07:33 PM)
Hi Celciuz, it's good to hear that it's not hardware related issue because I am planing to get the GS to purchase too. Well, just curious... how is the fan noise? It is audible especially at night. I'm sure it is quiet... I just want to know whether is it noisier than a CPU cooler... say a E8400 stock cooler.
*
I'm running the fan at 55%. No noise as far as I'm concern smile.gif. Though it gets really obvious above 55%. 55% is the sweetspot for me. Inten stockfan for E8400 is pretty much considered silent for me. Noise is on par.

Added on August 24, 2008, 8:16 pm3Dmark06 score. All at stock.

So far it seems okay for me lar... Most games I think the 4850 will bottleneck first instead for the E8400.

I always set mine at 55% and get around 42 or so for my idling.

And I can't seem to get the experttool to work on my pc ._. had to use the fanspeed mod from ccc.
