hmm details are still sketchy for example in japan its still exclusive. so not sure how that works out to us? doesn't affect me that much cause I don't play games with turn based combat, hate the grind
but of course it is interesting to talk to people who used to say the 360 sucks cause got no final fantasy now |

Well all I can say is the reason to keep PS3 is FF XIII Versus. Other then that, I can sell off my PS3.
And Sony is going down real bad since 1 of the main game came over. Kojima can't provide anymore MGS because is already end unless a new sequel is out. Now, How is PS3 is going to survive. Have to wait for the E3 conference by Sony. |

Final Fantasy exclusivity clarified at Square Enix conference
The announcement was heard all around the world: Final Fantasy XIII on Xbox 360? No way! Well, today's Square Enix E3 press conference clarified a few details. First: Final Fantasy XIII is still a PS3-exclusive ... at least in Japan. According to Kotaku, Square Enix exec Shinji Hashimoto told reporters: "I think you are right [in assuming that (the Xbox 360 version) is not coming out in Japan.]" It will only appear on Xbox 360 in English-speaking territories. In addition, Final Fantasy XIII will release in Japan first -- and then will be localized for the international audience. That means Japanese gamers will enjoy FFXIII on PS3 long before the rest of the world will see it go multiplatform. Hashimoto says that the Xbox 360's large install base in English territories is what led to the decision to make the game multiplatform. Because the decision was recent, there's no way of estimating how many discs the Xbox 360 version will be. Both console got pro and con.... PS3=3-5gig install into HD. and 360 3-4 disc... in the same result... we just want to play game and enjoy it....
.... but this game will release end of next year (2009) maybe.... coz japan will release around march 2009.. and 6-8 month after that.. english version ... feel so LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.. |

even if there is no planned Asian version, most of the PAL games now are free region like guitar hero 3, call of duty 4, grid, etc. i'm sure either the NTSC or PAL ver will work on our asian machines.

Actually no.
The reason FF V XIII was not mentioned was possibly because that its development have been put to a halt and the staff are all mainly concentrating on getting FF XIII out. Will try to dig Kotaku! for the source of it. Console exclusives are days of yesterday. |

Maybe the exclusivity remains in Japan.
Since the trailer of FF XII still stated "For PS3 only in Japan" Why the heck must they put the phrase if the game is coming to the 360 already unless it has some conceivable meaning. |

Those who worry with japanese exclusive before US/EU thingy, try and think back first. FF games always out in japan first and usually it takes SE around 6 month or more for localized version. Yes the PS3 will have FF13 first no doubt but it will be japanese only like usual

Repeat... its not exclusive... the Microsoft is evil argument doesn't work IMO... they just made it multiplatform... its not like PS3 owners can't play it... I can't see a company not doing multiplatform this gen... Costs are too high to do that...

I cant be bother this game wil came to ps3 or x360 n fanboy this fanboy that. All i hope is that this game will deliver, what i mean if it can be as good as the anythin before FF10 then i wil very excited. Anything after FF10 was shit especialy how they build chararter into the game. All except FF11 which i had play for 6yrs n still login to chat with my linkshell mates. What i know from this annoucement is that SE had made a good move. A little impact to Sony since this would decrease the sales at western countries wic r not doing so good either now. Gamers should rejoice since more ppl get to enjoy this game. Seriously im more excited the arrival of tales of vesperia than FF13 wic is not coming soon. sorry for not paragraph it coz on mobile.

This thread is turning into a console comparison war thread. Few more steps till it reach the next level of brand bashing. Anyway, do you guys think the graphics of FFXIII is part of a CG?! They did show a battle system which wasnt clear cut and yes it was pretty much the same as the first time trailer they ever showed for the game. |

Lol at the discs.
But why not rite? I mean, the days of the old PS, we had until 4 discs to play with, so what's wrong with having some extra's on this one correct? Load the discs with movies, then continue to the next disc, play somemore. But in regards of the battle system, i feel abit skeptical. It looks as if the menus were just added in, don't feel like we are controlling anything. Maybe something faster than the one in FF12 with chain links and bomb expansion. Hope it turns out great for both consoles. Now I want Gears on PS3. |

Exactly, fanboys should blame Star Ocean 4 for being an exclusive to the 360..not FFXIII....
basically 360 just have many great RPG franchise in development nowdays rather than the PS3. The worst of them are they all are made with a time exclusive or permanent exclusive to the 360....that why ps3 fans hate so much about it.... |

I m only like FF7 from FF series, if they feel pain, then we can write a letter to request SE "tarik balik " FF13 from Xbox360. Plus Gear of war for them if they want to....but must ask Microsoft first.

they don't have anything to boast now. maybe with the blu-ray but who cares? console is about playing games not watching movies (well mgs4 was going to that side). they were pissed not only FFXIII was not exclusive anymore but coz they know xbox's will be cheaper in anyways just like GTA4. why pay more when u can get the same game (or even better with DLC) cheaper? it's all about common sense.

Wouldnt expect it to be fully rendered of course. No way the Double Layer can fit it all in. However everything is still in planning stage (gosh, just in planning stage?! 2012
)However the fact that it is coming to the Xbox360, the developers definitely have something working behind the scenes to cope with it. And all i can see is that the PS3 Sorry then for those whiners but i obtain enlightenment that i can play FF13 on my Xbox360. How sweet! |

i usually train with the parkour guys at jalan2 punye padang bola on saturdays. kalau u see a bunch of people flipping around then one of them would probably be me. rofl! |

i think just the cutscene will not be as pretty as Blu-Ray becos of compression. Anyhow, i don really cares, the cut-scene showed at the E3 s already breath-taking. They are running it on a 360 rite? Even not, most of the game cutscene out there is looking good already, so it wont be a prob. Where is the link of the GF sequence? Mind to link it? I dont see any GF in the press conference, maybe i missed it lolz.

about the limitations of DVD, i think they can always use the hard disk to 'install' the data from the extra disc and load them from there. They can do that if they want to. Or they can have downloadable content for the game, etc

I'm sure they will. They'll be denying themselves a LOT of money if they overlook us (Asians). SE is definitely aware that there is a large Xbox360 install base in Asia.

Looking at the region chart, I think Zhiyung is on to something.
Considering there is no Jap version for 360, FF13 should only be released for NTSC US only format. Though the PS3 gets 2 version of it, it might seem that the the people at the states get the translated versions and we might not. Now, the SG set is basically NTSC J right? If that's the case, pray hard. Really hard. |

Actually who care about this, this FF13 should be the exclusive for PS3, we all xbox360 owner already knew that b4 i got a xbox360, this is just a game drop from the sky, maybe this game is broken, if we can play it, then play it, if cant, then forget it. yeah..i also think FFXIII will be released in asia.....coz square expects all of japanese users have the ps3 to start with....come on guys..if malaysia built a consoles..which consoles did you choose the most?...of course the malaysian one..( expects malaysia console = x360/ps3)..that reason applied with the ps3 in japan. They who have the x360, are mostly they who have the ps3 too (both system). So, there's nothing to lose if they not release it in japan. They still get the ps3 profit version in japan.
Asia definitely is a different console setting than the japanese one eventhough they have the same NTSC/J logo. Sometimes game on asia region cannot play with the jap consoles but jap region games can always be played on the asia consoles. That why i expects FFXIII will be coming to asia region with the english sub.....maybe a little late release than the NTSC/UC and PAL one.... P/S : Just my Guess.... It just doesnt make sense to put so much development on it, and not publish it in your own native region. They will do justice to japanese 360 owners.
Whoever thinks otherwise and wishes to flame me, please rewind a little and think logically. Square just made a TON of money from Microsoft and they WILL make even more once it's released on both consoles. It's square trend in doing japanese timed exclusive , same goes to all the previous FF . US/UK localised version will be few months after that . It will be super lucky if we can get a localized asia version at this point like blue dragon or Lo .

In about a year or more's time... this is for real....
 Final Fantasy (finally can say this name without much.. err... forget it) XIII is coming to the Xbox 360. Blu-Ray vs. DVD... What can be done... DVD-DL... or ask gamer to insert first/second etc. DVD of the game, install (technically, copying the important stuff to the hard disk of the Xbox 360)... and then stream off the remaining from the play disc. ps3 blu ray they use single layer rite? 25gb, so around 2-3 piece dvd dl, changing disc arent very hassle at all, not like u going to change it every 1hr or 2hr..

haha i own both machines so both also can man! on a side note tho, i remember reading the interview gamespy or IGN had with the the directors and developers of FFXIII at E3 2008, and they mention the development of the game is right now made solely for the PS3, tuning it for exclusively for the PS3 hardware first and foremost so it takes advantage of the power of the PS3. This was in response of some fans worry that by concentrating on both they are going to lose the quality. After that is done only they will then concentrate on moving the development to the xbox 360 taking advantage of the xbox360 awesome power too. I hope they don't mean porting btw. Anyway from what i read doesn't that mean that the PS3 version will come out way before the xbox360 does? Something like Bioshock, it came out to the Xbox360 like 6 months before the PS3 had it. Or was that a year after ? i'm not too sure can't remember. but if the game doens't realease about the same time and PS3 version come out way before xbox360 i dpon't tihnk sony is that worried about sales. However future sales like the next final fantasy should be around the same la. However if both versions come out around the same time, i think the sony board room is sweating ! Anyway i think exclusivity is good as it helps differentiate products in this very competitive market, but i am totally against rubbing it in other people's face when they lose it. anywya good for microsoft! |

Lost Odyssey, personally think that game is pretty good.
Good graphics, a nice storyline accompanying the journey (i really like it when they introduce Sid as Seth's son, that was epic ) The battle system is nice with a lot of customization but once you have enough skill slots, then the purpose got defeated as the immortals are pretty much invincible as well. The ring system plays a small role in gaining interest maybe just me but i never really bothered with it cause the effect is too small to be put into the equation. **Going OT already ** |

Don't think 2008 is possible , square always delay game as long as possible . Besides , very little information is released from the game , especially in game footage . I bet it will be another full year of development . And that is the jap version .

What i think is... every SquareEnix's RPG game is FF, they have different story, different character, different game system and some have sequence with other series but some are not, it just name as Final Fantasy. I only like FF7, so i think i not a FF fans.

Anyway i just checked the jump on Kotaku! and seems like the event featured a 60GB XboX360. So does that means that we will be getting it soon enough?! How bout the price?! Anyway now that FFXIII region mystery is finally solved, we can all sit back and relax while we ditch our hands on Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, Last Remnant, and maybe Star Ocean 4?! actually i'm kinda worried on how the quality of the game will be on x360. with all the uncompressed textures on ps3, surely the game will take it's toll being ported to our machine.
plus the porting from ps3 build to x360 build hasn't really started yet. so we dunno how much of the sacrifice will be done by SE. i for one was happy when they announced the game is coming to 360, but yes, those issues kinda keep me not buying into the hype yet. i guess have to see and play it first to believe. i hope somehow the demo will be made available to XBL so that we can download and evaluate it. Even after all these clarifications and whatnot, I still sincerely think that there will indeed be an Asian release or at least a region free US/PAL version.
The clarification above states that there are no plans to launch the game in Taiwan. Does that mean there will be NO plans at all to launch the game at all in the future? Absolutely not. As of now, there are no plans, of course. After all, development for the 360 version hasn't even begun according to SE. Another way to think about this is that Taiwan Xbox lady coming out and announcing the game. She wouldn't do something like that unless she had heard something from her bosses, right? I dunno... I really hope I'm right here. Also, word is that there will be no 360 FF13 in Japan. Fortunately, we're not in the same region as Japan (in the video game industry), so all hope is not lost yet. Actually, it wouldn't hurt the FFXIII sales on the PS3 at all. Japanese PS3 owners would've gotten the game much much earlier already. 360 FFXIII in Japan at the time of the US/UK release will just be for scraps. This is exactly why I don't understand the logic behind not releasing an Asian/Japanese version of the game. Furthermore, a lot of Japanese do not speak or read English well. Friend who works there says they run away when you try to ask them something in English XD

BUT, Sony would think so as they are in deep shit when MS announced FFXIII will go to 360 in NS/EU region, meaning they cant make use of FFXIII exclusive to make ppl to buy their console. SO they wont want to lose the JPN/Asia market again, so at least they got some exclusive left for them. Marketing strategy
So they will force us to buy ps3 if we want to enjoy the game or grab a US region 360. |

no reason not to cheer, man. the 360 still has plenty of great games to choose from. as of right now, many more great titles than the ps3. the '09 lineup hasn't been properly announced yet either. we've only seen like 5 games at most slated for '09.
anyway, don't be sad over something that we weren't supposed to get in the first place... be positive, it may very well still come to us. exclusivity is only a done deal for Japan, not Asia. |

Is it just me or does the FFXIII girl seem kind of ... not that attractive? I mean, all the modern FF's have attractive girls ... Aeris, Quistis, Rinoa, Yuna, etc etc ... but this girl looks more like a girly-boy than an actual girl.

Well, perhaps this game will simply use all available threads at near 100%. Of course if it's doing in 130 instructions what could be done in 20, then there is certainly room for improvement even if you claim it's using 100% of the PS3s power. Thing is, if it looks just as good on the 360 as it does on the PS3 when the PS3 version is being maxed out, then either the PS3 is weaker overall than the 360, or the more likely option the compiler still sux for the PS3 and is an inefficient pain, hence one more reason there are more games for the 360. Even though the Cell is superior for raw number crunching to the 3 core chip in the 360, Cell is really just one true CPU core with 7 small number crunchers while the 360 has three Power PC cores that can handle 6 threads of vector math, AI, and game engine logic.
One should also consider that the GPU in the PS3 is a basically modified GeForce 7800, and that much of it's claimed 1.8 TFlop processing power is for fixed function math like dealing with triangles and fixed function fog effects. The combined power of its shaders is much closer to like 200 GFLOPS. With the universal shader architecture of the 360 it is more efficient in shader power as opposed to the PS3 which has separate pixel and vertex shaders. IT will be interesting to see the results when this game comes out. Will the PS3 prove it's worth the price premium over the 360 as a gaming system, or will that price premium just be for having a blu ray player? Will the 360 prove it can give smooth gameplay while making images just as good, or almost as good, as the PS3? |

The only thing advantage I see the PS3 having over the Xbox 360 version is the blu-ray capacity.
Thus, PS3 should have uncompressed audio and textures, where as the 360 should have all of them compressed. I'm sure the difference is there, but marginal I think. Blu-ray also is slow compared to the DVD, but has bigger capacity. So I expect, PS3 = One disk, huge pre-installation required and 360 = multiple disk, pre-installation optional. The experience however will be identical. Buy on which console you have, makes no difference. Now more people can enjoy FF13. |

Xbox 360 game can do better performance using a DVD rather then Blu-ray, what a shame for PS3 .

there are differences betwen the PS3 and Xbox360, but i do belive that the 360 is one mean machine. Basically speaking it has 3 cores, each core having dual hardware threads...yes, hardware threads, not software threads. so its like 3 'core 2 duo' procs. The thing is that only 2 cores (4 threads) are utilized to run a game. the other 2 threads are used to control and synchronize the input peripherals (gamepad...etc). Nowadays, games are more dependant on the GPU instead on the CPU. however, i'm not sure which GPU is better? sony or ms...any idea? Therefore knowing 360 is one hardcore machine, FF13 would have no problem at all running on it

If it's 3 'core 2 duo', then effectively that would meant that it has 6 real cores which is obviously not the case.  |

No offence but when this title comes out, I'll be getting the PS3 version. You'll appreciate a 1 disc game if you've played Lost Oddysey, Star Ocean 4, Tales Of Vesperia etc.
I don't know whether it's my imagination but I always feels that the PS3 renders graphics slightly nicer compared to 360. |

You don't really need to copy all 5 disc at 1 go (duno how many disc for FF13). |

I've never encountered this kind of problem before in my 16 years of disc based gaming. And whether to get 360 or PS3 version, I'll wait and see if there's any discrepancies and decide. |

When I watched anime I usually preferred jap voice cast.But it differrent when I played RPG which I more preferred the english voice cast becoz long time ago during ps era all the japs rpg that are release in north america are usually english language voice cast.
So it is a no problem to me if they wanna throw the japanese voice dub or put it in as long as the text are in english. |

well if it actually comes in english then its like a bonus to xbox players, after reading the review of japanese ver FFXIII on PS3, it seems like the game only had a straight road, u go forward to proceed with story telling/battles, you buy items from the save point...
i suppose after awhile they would make a video of the full gameplay if thats how it is from the review. |

y need to remove ? they could just make sure you install 1-2 full 8.5gb dvd, then 2-3 disc for half game swap or 5 game disc swap.

Hmm...it looks like the XBOX version is only 576i or something...no 720p. I suspect it has something to do with SONY...after all Square Enix has close ties with SONY and i remember SONY has shares in Square Enix....i think it's a marketing strategy to dumb down the XBOX360 version...no reason it can't do higher res.

According to Source, FF13 will be released for PAL as well on March 9th. So although there is no 'Asian version', there is still a PAL version we can play right?

i dont call that spoiler, its all over the net now, PS3 Japanese version came out awhile back, you could read reviews all over. maybe even the faqs are ready @dattebayo i still think FF13 is gonna sell even if it looks like $hit. i suppose ppl who's gonna buy this game is all for its story & most probably FF series fans that did not bought a PS3. |

FF series are like the branded stuff in game industry( Apply mainly to the 2 main console most people own) ... It become a trend.. Like Gucci, LV.. etc... Especially in Asia... Sometimes LV bag design is not nice at all, but because of the high quality and durability... Like the the super HD of FF XIII SE give.. Ok, not that super la...I know.. Its been tone down etc.. But People will still buy it... Its prettiness and its name is so overwhelming that people do not care that much already... So it will definitely Sell~~~ XBOX or PS3...

not sure did i see it correctly... I was watching news at 8TV just now when they showed the police busted a pirated DVD and credit card fraud syndicate... they showed boxes of Final Fantasy 13 for XBOX360.....
Anyone saw that as well? |
