Not sure if somebody asked this before.

If I want to change my ATM PIN; let's say from Citibank Mastercard CC. Do I have to change that PIN at Citibank ATM machine? Does it possible to do it on any ATM machine that supports Cirrus?

Thank you.
*
No, you can't change your PIN on a non-Citibank ATM machine. You can change your PIN from any Citibank ATM all over the world but so long it is a Citibank machine. Speaking from a personal experience.

The process of changing PIN is tied to the issuing bank CC - you can only do that from that bank's ATM machine only.

@vin_ann,
I thought CitiPhone is available 24/7?!
*
Yes it is available 24/7 but the people who work behind the scene may not be available 24/7. For example services such as Permanent Credit Limit Increase or even 1 hour replacement card. You can call them @ 2am but you'll only get your card probably when the office opens the next morning.

@jep,
Unless you're able to contact them [did U even get the co name?!] I don't think there's anything U can do.
*
Well there's still hope. The contract would require a documented proof that the buyer agrees to the purchase and in this case a signature or a verbal capture (e.g Voice Logger) to say that he said yes to it. If you initiate a transaction dispute with bank, the bank will ask for all this from the merchant and of course the merchant is unable to furnish them in this case.

I think there's a good chance for the case to be won by the card holder but I don't think that merchant will dare to do so in the first place. You see there's a hefty penalty (thousands of bucks) that can be imposed onto the merchant if proven such a fraudulent attempt has occurred.

@hye,
I think U forgot to mention the 'illegal' part hence there is just more than the hefty penalty.
Transactions can't be done without the CCV code

@tinkerbel
Yeah ... you are right. Forgot to use that word. And I think you meant CVV ?

Like tinkerbel says, it depends on the bank's T&C. Citibank imposes a RM30 cancellation fee. MBB is OK with it but you have to inform them and justify. Not sure about the rest though.

@kianwee,
I can understand ur frustrations; I'm new with MBB thus have no feedback on their CS for now biggrin.gif  Initial impression was pretty impressive; CS actually called to double check if I'd received my CC!
*
Agree with tinkerbel here. The general feedback from the folks here can be used as a guide to measure the effectiveness of the bank's cc CS but there could be could be special cases where the customer's experience is bad.

Like myself, I just had a bad experience with Citibank which I told myself to stay clear of their cards for a very long time. mad.gif

why you said citibank service isnt good? I was once double charged by them on my cc transaction but it was corrected by them few days after that. So far so good. Only thing bad is their gifts redemption with points not as good as CIMB/MBB
*
I had a good impression of them all this while until something unexpected happened recently.

This started with one of their staff (Citibank staff) fraudulently applied an additional credit card under my name - I only tick one box in the form but I got 2 cards (which I suspect to claim additional commission) which leads to series of other issues as well. Isn't this serious enough ? (or a good example of their service ... I think not)

I'm quite curious whether anyone here own the SCB Infinite card. Please do share your comments on using this card and its privileges.

What I knew was that SCB does not have a 1 year annual fee waiver on this card. This means it'll attract a RM800 annual fee on the first bill !

hey guys..i just receive airasia citibank card.... which i didt apply at all...

if i didt use mean it wont activated rite?
*
I suggest you to call Citibank to check the status of the card - whether it's activated or not. They told me before that if card was sent using courier it is pre-activated and if you receive the card via other methods it would not be activated. However, even you don't want this card I strongly suggest you to call in to cancel the card (but they will plead with you to keep the card ... be firm if you want to cancel) otherwise it will remain inside Citibank's system for the next 6 month before it gets auto deleted.

@Terapox
Do you have the VISA Infinite ?

@Reventon
I do think that SCB knows who they have in mind (target market) for this particular card. However, the info provided on this card (as stated in SCB's website) is pretty basic. I have a feeling it's going to be hard as well for SCB to attract the right crowd to this product on the notion that people would be comfortable using their existing bank's cc and just by offering a better credit limit / airport lounge would doubly lure them here. They would be traveling business anyway thus have preexisting access to lounges + have a good credit limit on their cards already.

It's all about the level of customer service that the card attracts. I agree it would be the equivalent level that the Platinum command in the 90's and unlike now where a lot of people owns a Platinum card. Thus the exclusivity of the Platinum has diluted itself.

.... Hope Terapox has this card to tell its story.

@dr2k3

Not really. What tinkerbel mentioned is correct. AMEX charge cards do not have a preset CL. And she also have the AMEX credit card (Amex CC) which of course have a credit limit just like a normal credit card.

No contradiction at all between the 2 statements.

There is a limit but only for AMEX use internally. However, you can still use the card without worrying hitting the limit. You see it all depends on your spending pattern and payment history.

But you cant go and swipe for a brand new car (if got such a thing) right at the first usage. You'll trigger the alarm over in AMEX.

No I don't think so. You have to put up a fresh application for the Principle card.

I ain't the one who's got a whole collection/series of Plat cards but I think it starts from a min of RM30k

I know someone who has a Plat card from MBF and the CL is only 18K. Some other examples - UOB/SCB Plat CL=25K. It all depends on the bank I think.

For all that you have mentioned. I really respect you in depth knowledge of the 2 products. (You might get flamed as this is a forum for CC ... nevertheless you earned my respect)

You are right about the banks tracking you and it's one of my main reasons that I've been trimming down on my cards in the last 12 months. Down to only 3 ... thinking how to trim to just 2 or to consider adding 1 more card to 4. I've always wondered about these notes that the bank keeps about their clients - wondered how can I ever find out about my own ratings. Probably never ?

QUOTE(ZONX @ Aug 27 2008, 09:55 PM)
Guys/Girls,

i'm going to use credit card for online registration which cost me around rm3k+..

currently i have 2 cc, direct access and alliance cc.
direct access has no admin fees for online purchase (no rebate for online purchases)
while alliance has up to 1.2% rebate on any purchases (but not sure about online admin fees)

what you guys think? opinion?
*
It is really up to your preferences. For example, for online purchases I use DA and HSBC.

DA - If you trust the online merchant. By all means do so but I'm rather skeptical about local banks handling online/offline transactions disputes.

HSBC - I'm aware of the slight additional charges but I treat this as insurance just in case disputes happen. For example, I had a merchant who double charged me for a transaction. I called the bank and informed them ... filled up the necessary forms and etc (before even my billing cycle was due) and it was corrected within less than 1 week. (I'm sure they must have contacted the merchant) Another case, someone cheated me on a service and I paid via PayPal. Under PayPal T&C, they don't handle service related disputes but I put up the request via HSBC forcing PayPal to talk to HSBC in proving their case. I got my money back after 30-45 days.

Everyone don't get the wrong idea ... I only do genuine disputes on my cc.

It all depends on you ... correct me if i'm wrong but Alliance will not give you points right if you opt for rebates ?
