Federer only played well after he was down 5-1 in the 3rd set. Like Bapeon said, those drop shots are really well placed!

I was hoping for Acasuso to come back from 5-1 in the 4th set though, but seems like he has already ran out of stamina to do so. The game where Federer won the match, Acasuso basically just threw all the points away.

I think he played quite well, except for the few games in the 3rd set... But its good for Federer to experience these tough matches.. its not getting easier.

Acasuso should have took that bathroom break as well... laugh.gif

Federer came back fully refreshed after he went to the toilet.

As for federer match, credits to Acasuso for playing superbly well on some points.

I'm not going to point out whether he was above or below his standard, but what I really liked from this match and what we can learn in life is, never give up, every shot is a new chance.

I just admired how he could be so calm in the first set, saving up to almost 5 set points, while he was down 4-1 in the tiebreak, came back from the almost impossible and dominate the match. If you ask me why Nadal is right at the top now, I would not say he has better shots than federer, but I believe his mental focus is very strong. That's what sets them apart.

If federer can maintain this kind of mentality, and believe in himself that he can do it, the both of them will elevate men's tennis to a level no other player can come close. And that's what I hope happens.

Federer needs to work on getting less unforced errors though. Those are alot of wasted points. Acasuso played above his own level today, his backhand was phenomenal and his forehand is right at Federer's level early on.

Yesterday we had a great day of tennis, watching Federer struggled abit but came out from the match playing some of his best tennis... Its impressive....

Looks like today will be good as well... The highlight of the day is definitely Nadal vs Hewitt... Seriously, i don't think Hewitt can really trouble Nadal... but he's Hewitt.. tongue.gif tongue.gif If he can play with his usual fire, all the "come on"s, and make things abit more exciting, then it would be great... If not Nadal would cruise through this match again...

And also Sharapova is playing as well... I think Murray vs Tipsarevic should be another great match. smile.gif

Hoho...

Current no.1 vs Former no.1.
I don't remember the last time Hewitt and Nadal played. If today Hewitt can pull off what he used to be, he may actually have a chance.... Gonna be an awesome match to look forward to.

Wow... 8 years ago, I wouldn't thought anyone could utterly destroy Hewitt. At some point in the match, we still did see a little bit of classic Hewitt. Never give up!

Some of the points made Nadal played every inch of what he has. Awesome Hewitt! Eventhough you lost, you deserve the props!

She is in very good shape now. I would say she could make it to quarters definitely, semi is also possible. But to win, she's going to have to come up with something extremely special.

Dinara, Ivanovic, Jankovic, all pretty much in top form in this slam this time.

I watched the match as well.. Nadal was really good in defence.... there were a few shots that Hewitt attacked and Nadal just flicked back those balls with his forehand. Its really frustrating because it was a good shot but with a flick and the ball was back to your side.. Its crazy! But yeah, Hewitt played quite well actually but well, Nadal is the king of clay.

Hi guys, just wanna highlight on a very good player from the women's side.
Carla Suarez Navarro.
My good her playing style is beautiful especially her backhand.
You'll be awed but unfortunately her matches aren't shown.

Solid match by Roddick, nothing too fancy. Pretty much quite an easy match from him, but Gicquel certainly had some very nice defense in the third set. At one point, he took every shot A-Rod gave him, from deep penetrating forehands to volleyes, Gicquel returned it all. Too bad he couldn't keep his form up.

Couldn't believe Stosur won Dementieva. One of the upsets of the day.
Of course, probably the biggest upset of the day is Djoker got swept out by... Kohlscreiber? Damn. He came out of no where once again.

Added on May 31, 2009, 2:44 amFed won, but awesome awesome run by Matheiu. His accuracy was spot on. Great penetrating shots too.
