What about sambal ikan bilis ?  biggrin.gif

Keii-kun, which airlines you are taking then ?
*
taking MAS, but on Thursday noon(night flight is way too expensive, to the extent dat hotel stay is cheaper). MAS- MH70

sambal bilis is good too, but better got bread biggrin.gif

as for keropok, maybe keropok goreng, not keropok lekor (mendokusai). so gonna need either PsyCHZZZ/tanoshi/fire to goreng it first la. lingam thai chilli sauce would be a good addition!

LYN members. AA-X will be flying to Hokkaido & Kyushu, Japan in 2009.
It would be wanderful to save up travel cost.

Azran said AirAsia X was looking to expand its routes in 2009 into northern India including New Delhi, Amritsar and Mumbai, and to Beijing. In 2010 it aims to target South Korea and to Tokyo, Hokkaido in northern Japan and Kyushu in the south.

well, recently they said flight to London would be mid 2009 (which is true, 30K seat sold) and then flight to japan end-2009. but still, MAS might offer cheaper price with online full saver ticket compare to AAX, but we'll see. recent online MAS promo, cheapest was RM2.3k with tax and FUEL SURCHARGE.

well, i have inquired ANA recently before buying MAS online offer price. they have started to declare new price with reduced fuel surcharge. not that cheap since ANA is a co-sharing from KUL-Spore before taking ANA plane to tokyo.

still expensive by RM400 compared to MAS offer / promo price. MAS is yet to declare new price without fuel surcharge.

my opinion, there is a bottomline for airfare, the lowest it would be is like in 2005, MAS return flight+tax etc etc, RM1800.

skincladalien,

that is cheap, mind telling its from which airlines/flying dates? looks like SIA...

matt85, i bought earlier during the online promo cos i am confirmed to go and taking the safe countermeasures. 2.5k is the average i've been paying previously, so its ok. furthermore, nobody expected the crude oil price would drop to current price.

If i want to go to Japan..............how easy for me to get visa if i am alone?

Although i am alone.......but then, if i provide confirmed return ticket, sufficient funds, hotels and daily itinerary.............is it easy for me to get the visa even though i am going to travel to Japan alone?
*
if you are not sure, just apply the visa first, with the itinerary and bank statements. no need to have confirmed ticket yet. go apply now. should have no problem. i went alone in 2004. spend my first 6month saving from my first work hahahahha

Lxf2, chances are you won't get your visa if you're going alone in your current situation. You can ask your FAMA fund to bank in 100k cash into ur account, provide you with a credit card and they become your guarantor  laugh.gif

QUOTE(mayornaise @ Jan 11 2009, 04:10 PM)
ok guys and girls...

My name is Man....I'm going to Osaka, Japan under JICA EPP program Malaysia-Japan from 18Jan-7Feb..I really need ur help based on the questions below..

1) forecast weather for Osaka basically from 0 -8 degrees celcius...WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?...i surf the internet and i find some information about long johns, hat, glove, sweater and so on....

so....please anybody of u explain more about those clothes...I mean....I will buying it before 18Jan ...help me before I wrongly buy these clothes and become freezing in Japan.
get a good jacket. long john is not needed if you are going to spend most of your time inside building. I survived outside environment during snow/winter, 1 jacket, 1 wool shirt and jeans. ok la...tp still sejuk but u won't died of freezing
2) Time travel.....if I'm not mistaken..I will travel by MAS......but I don't have any information about the travelling hour..so how many hour the time taken travel to Japan..Osaka?
just take roughly 5-6hrs. Osaka, turun dekat Kansai international (KIX).
3) communication.....do MAXIS and CELCOM can be used in Japan..I mean roaming or whatever..
yes you can roam, but only if you phone and simcard is 3G
4) What are the places I should take note if I'm going to buy cheap and reliable clothes during my three weeks there?
UniQlo . Cheap and good reliable clothes
5) and what about the budget....basically for just having a breakfast, lunch and dinner....? how much do I will spend?
3 weeks? RM2,000 or 50K yen should be enough if you are just eating to survive.
hope u all can help me.....this is my first time going to Japan.....If you all like to take me jalan2 there during weekends or like to 'pesan barang' from malaysia...you can ask me but in one condition......u will take ur barang at JICA, Osaka la cause i don't know how to go to your places...by the way...if not expensive I can use my money first.

Thanks in advance

Keii-kun....

Thanks for the reply...so long johns no need ah?!...I think most of the time I will spent my time in the training centre....

so you said that only jacket is enough...so what type of jacket actually?.......can you help me on this....I'm mean is it something like motocycle's jackets or special jacket for winter?......

I will go to Universal Traveller this weekend to buy those clothes....

How about shoes?.....any recommend shoes?....ordinary shoes is ok?....adidas, crocodile, office shoes?

so jeans is ok right?....
*
i personally do not prefer long johns cos leceh when to go toilet etc etc.

the thick wool jacket la. the winter type one. but my opinion is, no need to buy expensive jacket here, cos when u got in japan, there's a lot of shop selling and it is cheaper with better quality than those @ Universal Travellers. but the catch is , u have to survive the winter before u go n buy the jacket there.

sneakers with thick socks is ok. i wore my vans sneakers, ok je.

most notebook adaptors, battery chargers, camera chargers allow voltage from 100V ~ 240V. no prob on the voltage. just get those pin converter (RM4) or multinational adapter (RM19).

but is 100k yen enuff for 2 persons? sweat.gif

EDIT: and i think u're still single, coz u can never leave ur wife alone. not becoz of her safety, but ur wallet's safety. sweat.gif
*
100k yen for 2 person is enough......last '07 i went with my wife, this is usually what we plan for expenses for 1 week stay 8Night

- 5K yen / day for bfast+lunch+dinner = 40k (usually lower, because we just eat ok ok only)
- budgeted 10k yen for transportation+souvenirs
- extra 20k yen for shopping (we shop stuff that really cheap compared to msia)

my last trip took us up until yokohama and enoshima island, within that budget.

yes, 100k yen is enough ...unless you are planning to go n take bullet train to somewhere else too

babytensai, if you went through the threads laugh.gif you would find the estimated figures is almost similar, regardless where you go in Japan. the difference is not that much, and it depends on your preference of meal and trip itinerary (i.e bullet train, fancy restaurants, kabuki, etc etc)

if i were you, i'd hold that taiwan trip and stay home for this year, so that i am able to go to japan next year laugh.gif

Added on January 30, 2009, 11:55 amHoly crap. I have another question. I just called japan Embassy in Malaysia and they said that I need at least Rm6k in my bank account to apply for visa. Its it for each one of us who travel to Japan or for the whole group? Dam...i have a secure job here but still need Rm6k in my bank account? Already bought a return ticket but still have to show them ah?Damn.....
*
yes, i did made a call to embassy to confirm , since i'm yet to apply my visa.

the person said, must have RM6k in account, regardless you have bought the flight ticket or not.

but as bonzaimy had clarified, it doesn't need everyone to have RM6k, just either one of u. so like my case, me having rm6k would be sufficient, since my wife is going with me....

therefore, tanoshi please update the FAQ page, on the must have RM6k for applicant or one of the applicant doh.gif
