Okie dokie. smile.gif Yeah~ for the food - feel free to bring anything you like. If you're buying from the store - then just let us know what you plan to buy in advance so that we don't end up with too many of the same food (nanti semua makan keropok.. LOL)

I would kill for some spicy sambal goreng now man... hahaha...
PsyCHZZZ, thanks for the organized schedule. nicely done thumbup.gif

I will be there with my wife.

as for food, as asked before, do you guys have any special request for me to smuggle in? whistling.gif
i.e wet keropok lekor or serunding daging or sambal nyonya (can make nice sandwich with eggs).
or, YEOS' sambal bilis? brows.gif need time to source a good keropok lekor and serunding daging.

but for wet keropok lekor, someone in tokyo would need to goreng them, which he needs to pick it up from me later on.

can anyone bring hot barley tea or roasted green tea or sakura-cha? it would nice to have them with senbei.

btw, is the mat count is enough? seems like gonna be a lot of people heheee

Tanoshi,
you assistance is needed to update the main page, TQ... laugh.gif nanti hilang ini thread.

Ok, then count me in.I will bring my sister,my mom and my aunt. And about food, can I just buy from the store? I'm not sure if I can bring one coz Im a muslim. Hard to get Halal food unless u guys want me to bring sambal goreng...smile.gif
*
my suggestion is (this is just a suggestion).
make egg & mayo sandwich. you can buy eggs, mayo , bread at konbini. as long your hotel room got those water boilers/heaters, can make already.

i think cheaper than buying at store, and confirm HALAL. simple and light , since we are going to STORM TEN-YA!!!!

btw, PsyCHZZZ, would the akiba's TEN-YA able to fit all of us? not the one under the railway tracks right?

i'm willing to pay for expensive shipping (FEDEX or DHL) coz my wife has been asking me non-stop to get someone from Japan to buy it. At least it's very much cheaper than flying back to Japan to get it. sweat.gif

Yamashiroya's website has online shopping but everything is in Japanese and i dunno if they can ship to Malaysia.
*
anyway, be careful in shipping in stuff from japan, better if someone in japan , send to someone in msia as gift....

tips
- put in old clothes and old stuff, giving the custom idea that the item is not merchandise.
- lose the box

if not, free2 you have to give custom 30% duty eksais.
another cheaper is handcarry back lah brows.gif

tanoshi is turning this thread into a purchase stuff in japan service (similar to those ebay / USA bulk purchase) laugh.gif doh.gif

Tanoshi is just being kind and wanted to help us. I know it's the best if we go there ourself and get it but due to the current economy crisis, I don't think that's possible. Since Yen is so expensive now.
*
pegi sana tadak mahal lah. now flight ticket can get RM1.5k. yen oso came down to RM3.80. tadak mahalll....like zoakies said....not tat expensive lerr...but in order to get the worth of spending the flight ticket, at least 1 week stay is worth it laugh.gif

tanoshii is providing a 'member help member' service....and to get help buying stuff from japan is not something we see everyday laugh.gif

Im back after last quarter epic fail Japan plan-mission doh.gif

I believe i need a getaway from my lab after this quarter as its fading uot my sanity, and im planning for a 2week trip to japan.
but i may have few hiccups:
- i dont read/speak japanese
- ronery/probably travel alone
- i believe visa/mastercard dont work in japan

do you guys think 2 weeks trip to visit tokyo/nagoya/osaka enough?
To be exact i have 12days leave max at my disposal, So i want to maximize my japan visit if possible.
I like cultural stuff, and weaboo on the weekends.
Im open to any advice/suggestion on any best time frame/place should i visit with my limited time.
Obviously i cant make it to the sakura withering view ;__;
*
e-jump,
you are so wrong, visa/mastercard works la in Japan. even Ambank Al-Taslif cards is accepted laugh.gif

no problem on not being able to read or being alone. hm.. 2 weeks trip, i'd recommend tokyo & yokohama only.
if not, your trip going to be very short on each town/place, rather than exploring the full detail of the town. but, it is up to your preference.

QUOTE(CyberSetan @ Mar 8 2009, 02:52 AM)
I was wondering,
is RM5000 enough for a week holiday in Tokyo for a single person? (cheapest type of accomodation, food to eat, cheapest transport)

I'm planning on sight seeing around the city and probably including Mt.Fuji as well.

Any advice?
*
more than enough for single. RM3k is enough (RM1k+ accomodation, RM400 food - JPY10,000 a week for food is a lot!, RM200 train - JPY5000 is enough if you are just taking trains around tokyo)

however, if you plan to go Hakone (recommended for views, cable car, outdoor onsen) you need around JPY10,000 but not inclusive of sleeping there. day trip only.

btw, speaking of onsen, clemong, any traditional/open air onsen around tokyo, within 30minutes train?

Great. found a link. very near . Ueno itself got one.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/japan/728752-tokyo-onsen.html

anyone fancy for onsen? SETA onsen looks nice brows.gif

Ahaha 3k kalo nak shopping Nikes def not enuf. And that's exactly what i wana buy; expecting to burn both my cards

Btw, im taking the Keisei limited instead of Skyliner due to cost saving. Is it a good idea ?
*
keisei limited express (tokkyu) would costs JPY1050 until ueno.

but if using N'EX , it will cost JPY1500, instead of JPY3,000, and requires you to change train from Shinjuku to Ueno.

i have been taking keisei few times previously (of course la cheap) , but considering to try N'EX, but then changing train is such a hassle.

N'EX - 1hrs 10minute
Keisei Limited Express - 1hrs 30minute... 20minute difference for JPY2,000.00

btw, if you are planning to shop for Nike stuff, go to Minami Osawa town, got Nike factory outlet and Adidas factory outlet. train to & from would costs you JPY1,000.

also you can visit Tama Center where the Sanrio (hello kitty) park hehehe

PsyCHZZZ,

i've been reading some forums on hanami... most people said that Ueno koen would be the most packed area during hanami, so are we definitely going to be at Ueno or considering other place, i.e Shinjuku Gyoen?

for me Ueno koen going to be near so that's fine. but most probably, we need one person booking the mats n place, while one person be the guide from Ueno station to the mats in the park, since both of them should have keitai, rite?

anyway, menu list updated :
- bonzaimy (sambal bilis)
- keii-kun (planning of keropok ikan, but need someone to goreng it, with lingam's thai chili sauce)

Yup ... it's going to be really packed alright but I think that's the fun part also (for me la... cause then got lots to see). But if you guys prefer to have it in Shinjuku-koen; it's totally fine with me also. As for the booking of spots - I plan to go around 6am to book so hopefully can get enough spots for 15 people (I'll have 3 mat with me).

As for the meeting spot on that day, can you please refer to this map? link
I have marked the spot (with a human icon) where the meeting point will be and a walking path from the station's exit (Koenguchi - or on that day... just follow the LARGE CROWD). The picnic spot will be on the sides of where I've placed the 'picnic' icon. From what I can recall; they'll barricade the side for picnics under the sakura trees while the center is meant for people to walk.

I'll print-out the Malaysian flag on an A4 paper la... then you should be able to identify me and I'll appreciate it if anyone can make it earlier that day also to help with the ushering once we can secure a spot. smile.gif
*
great, we'll just stick to Ueno Koen lah. A flag with the two LYN dudes with Msian flag would be nice thumbup.gif

and I might be able to be there early since staying around there. we'll have a detailed mob-demob plan later on.

Takunai Pass and Suica Card. Which one is more convenient? Lots of question to ask la..sorry
*
Tokunai Pass is similar to Metro daily ticket. looks like cheaper a bit if you have a lot of movement in a day. SUICA card is just like a touch n go, hassle free but paying same ticket price.

let's say, if you a going to 2 places in a day, on Yamanote line, each fare is JPY160, gonna cost you JPY160x3 (assumption) = JPY580. but if you are moving from one station one side to another side, at least 4 station, its worth it. Three place, i.e you're from Shinjuku - Ueno - Akiba - Shinjuku.

funny things, is i dun see Shibuya, Harajuku station there....hmmmm hmm.gif
