Here's the result if you search for 'from tokyo to okinawa': http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=of...awa&btnG=Search

user posted image

As you can see from the first result, there are already available flights by cost of US$854 from Haneda Airport (Tokyo) to Naha Airport (Okinawa).
It should fly from Haneda Airport, not Narita Airport (think of Haneda as Subang Airport for local flights, and Narita like KLIA) biggrin.gif

There are no ways to drive or walk to Okinawa from Tokyo, because Okinawa is an island.
I've never known of any ships or ferries that go there, maybe they exist, maybe they don't.
What I do know is that majority of visitors going there would take a plane from Haneda Airport.
As always, swimming is optional laugh.gif

In summary (from the 2nd result there):
*
there's a ferry i think but not from tokyo. fukuoaka or the southern tip of kyushu

QUOTE(firedauz @ Nov 22 2008, 05:31 PM)
My Japanese was never good to be honest, still struggling.

However, if someone were to come here for the purpose of learning (not working or studying other things), should probably take 1 month or less.
*
one month?! ure saying very basic japanese no? its already my third yr here(fourth yr of japanese) and im still not near mastering it.

oh yea firedauz, at work do u use japanese or english?

i actually think speaking(with the gestures) is harder. there are so many forms of communications. from the normal conversation to the polite(masu) to the very very polite(keigo) and then there's new words invented by people everyday. seriously, who's not in japan that knows the meaning of KY? then of course, there's the slang. try listening to the okinawan slang. its not even japanese tongue.gif

There's alot of English-speaking companies you can Google in Japan.
Have a search on them.

I won't tell mine though biggrin.gif
*
it has to be a non-japanese company right? and that i mean like hp,ge,activision and so on.

working part time(baito) and getting a normal job are quite different. rates might be somewhat the same but bonuses and benefits really make the difference.

@tanoshi

i dont think part timing as an English teacher is worth it. true u get 1500yen an hour which is more than normal jobs at about 1000yen but the time spent on preparation and so on makes everything about the same

hmm.... air asia x is already opening flights to London. Next? Japan?

current offer KUL-London, RM1,400/pax return ticket. in other hand, MAS's all inclusive fare is RM4,600/pax return ticket...

hmmmm meaning, we can expect normal MAS KUL-NRT RM3,000 became RM1,500 on Air Asia X? can't wait for them. rclxms.gif

not enough...if i'm not mistaken, JPA students gets around RM6k per month.
*
wahh, who's been telling u lies. jpa students only get roughly about 3.5k a month. 3k is enough to live. tokyo might a tad difficult but possible.

hehehe..here in Japan got so many place for a shower place such as this place in Shinokubo for example..its cost bout 450yen per shower if not mistaken lor..
No prob actually f4te..its depend on you where do you want to choose the place of study? You talk bout Japan rite...unless you want and really want to chuz Tokyo...wanna cheaper one like Malaysia..chuz OKINAWA...its similar like Malaysia! lots of Malaysian student there..
*
i dont think okinawa is that cheap. and i dont think tokyo is that expensive. the major difference is rent.rent can get even cheap if u stay in kanagawa. i would think transportation in tokyo is cheaper (dont use JR, the KEIO lines are freaking cheap, subways too) groceries, sometimes rural areas might be more expensive due to lower volumes. students adapt, students hardly have any financial commitments making them more flexible. and i think there's more Malaysians in tokyo than okinawa tongue.gif

@f4t3

no bathroom means there should be a shared one, just not private. might not include shower though. for student accomodation, there's always house sharing, student houses and so on.

Okinawa is CHEAPER than Tokyo, btw you ve been to Okinawa before is it?
Tokyo is more expensive than Okinawa...
my brother in laws studying in Okinawa more than 4 years already there...so he knows more than me...and he has been in Tokyo than of course he make the comparison then...some more he is using Toyota Estima for commuting in Okinawa (i'm not telling he is rich but, in Okinawa is cheaper than Tokyo)
Unless Cleemong you've been living in Okinawa and Tokyo before...Kanagawa also got expensive rent by the way..Kyushu is cheaper then. icon_rolleyes.gif Students also depends on their lifestyle, like my frenz. He is scholar from Monbusho...he afford for everything already for what he compulsory need for living in Japan..but then his lifestyle make him have to works for part time... thumbup.gif
FYI, I already survey and do researched with most of FUDOSAN in Tokyo...so I quit confident bout the rental in Tokyo compare some other place out of Tokyo...

got a new place if i not mistaken, The Middletsown thumbup.gif . I think Clemoong knows the place.. wink.gif

Forgot not to buy thermal wear ar, in TRAVELLERS Bkt. Bintang and Times Square got more choices oh ya plug adpater converter jgn lupa arr!...today my place 45 deg Fahrenheit..how to convert in Celsius ar?
*
ill let u know next yr when i move there. hehe biggrin.gif
but as i said, rental might be more expensive but other things might be cheaper. and of course buying a car is cheap anywhere but tokyo and osaka but its all about compromises. in the end i dont see a price difference of more than 20,000 or 30,000yen max.

im doing reserach on fudosan in tokyo also. prices are definitely more expensive and will be the major cost but as students u live within your budget and make sacrifices.

oh cool..you move here 1st then you know how expensive it is...I live in Tokyo now, and you live in Gifu its a different bro...so I know hows the life in Tokyo, everyday I live and learn...so moral of the story in Tokyo is hi living cost than other prefecture generally...oh ya...IF you wanna talk about LIFE in Tokyo, you talk to the right person...i've been working from co-workers (buruh kasar) till as Marketing Advisors since I arrived here on May!I've been through a beautiful and ugly day every day, but now days much prettier day! hehehe! rclxm9.gif  I do love Japan watever it is!...you also xcan ask bro Fire...for me he is consider 'sempai' for this LYN Japan in Tokyo...you come here bro...we welcome you to Tokyo (its not the same wit Gifu then for sure hehehe)!!! thumbup.gif
*
hahaha, i know its different, gifu and tokyo. u gain some, u lose some. but it's definitely possible to live in tokyo with about 100,000yen, i know people in tokyo who're doing that. gifu ain't that cheap as well. transportation kills. i need 1500yen to go to nagoya. even bus to gifu city costs 400yen. thats why transportation to me in tokyo is cheap.
ill see u next yr then smile.gif

Buying a car is cheap IMHO (for 2nd hand ones) but man~ the maintenance will kill you. A stupid parking spot at my apartment cost USD200/month. Then there's the super-duper expensive parking charges all around Tokyo and tolls and petrol cost... it's more expensive than having a gf. tongue.gif

exactly why i said not tokyo or osaka. u dun need one there though. smile.gif

yoyogi is a specialized school, college i reckon. i think(not too sure) that it only offers a diploma. to japanese, it doesnt really matter whether u have a diploma or degree. but if ure looking for a degree, u should look at unis.

here's one such uni

http://www.geidai.ac.jp/english/about/index.html

i dunno too much bt the animation industry so i cant help u there.

Just one thing ... I need to learn Japanese for a year there ? Just like everyone does before continue studying their main course . Can I be excuse if I know good Japanese and can write ?

For me ... I think its better for me to have a degree ... As long as I got my diploma...I can go for a degree ? If I got my Diploma and wanna continue my degree there ... Im considered as undergraduate or post graduate ?
Tanoshi...This is most probably my last question ... Since others are cleared ... Thanks to you guys =)
*
doesnt matter where u learn your japanese , just need the qualifications/certs/ so on. its hard to say, depends on whether your diploma is recognizable by the uni. its the same in any country. undergrad is a degree course, postgrad is a masters/phd course.

if ure really really really really interested, email the unis! thats the easiest way i guess. even if u ask me im only half guessing here.

every year, kobe has this event called luminarie in memory of the great hanshin earthquake(5000 or so were killed) back in 1995. its just basically an illumination but the designs are just mind blowing. the crowd was even crazier! the queue was about 2km long and i had to wait 2 hours!
