Hello everyone. Mind to share your story about the travel agencies you've experienced? It's important to choose a good travel agency that would never spoilt your trip right? At the end of your story, please rate for the service, tour guides, food, accomodation, overall itenerary, etc at your own opinion. thumbup.gif

Last time, when travelling to oversea, i always prefer go through a travel agency. But now i would not book a trip from them, cause they alway change a date & tell u not enough person on this trip lah, that lah. (5 or 6 time i book a trip from agency, until now only 1 time no change date, somemore it because the trip i book is 1 week bf the travelling date)

Remember 1 time, before i paid a deposit to them, i request them to check how many person on the trip, the guy told me got 20++ persons on this trip (atleast 10ppl). So i also pay a deposit lah, after 2 week received the call from them say the date has been change because of not enough persons, some of the client change a date lah. WTF. Finally, i request for cancelllation & full refund, then they told me if i change the date will given me RM200 voucher for compensation. I didn't accept it, cause they are totally dishornest.

Now, i just backpack with my wife with flexible schedule, time. Its more enjoyable than follow a agency.

If you are going fot Group Travel. Make sure they are "Guaranteed Departure". However this depends
on who the travel agent is la. Go for the reputable ones. Nowadays, with fuel price increasing, airlines are changing their charges
almost every day. So the non-reputable ones will not fly if there are no group size and they will probably charge you more with the increase.
They will call you up and make up stories!
I understand how frustrating it can be if they change the dates, etc. You have already taken fixed leave and the family is all excited to
go. So why waste your money, time and effort? Book with a reliable agent!
As for Free and Easy, book with a reliable agent too. Usually small agents get you to top up when they incur more surcharge. This shouldn't
happen.

Last November I bought this 10D8N package to Egypt from Parlo Tours. The group is about 19 ppl so consider very good. I saw the other group of 30ppl. I think it's depends on whether the local tour guide wants a small or big group. So, everything is ok until we arrived in Cairo. The hotel is quite disappointing, it stated local 4-star but the facilities and service just like 2/3-star hotel, not much of room facilities. No boiler and everytime request for hot water you will need to tips the waiter(not housekeeper). The local Egypt tour guide was so so only, very quiet, not active and the voice was too soft all the time. Apparently he is new. No-fun tour guide.

We arrived in Cairo and departed from Luxor. The funny thing was at the last day the local egypt tour guide brought us to a restaurant to have our last dinner in Luxor, which I can't find the restaurant name. IT WAS A TERRIBLE TERRIBLE BUFFET! Everyday buffet buffet buffet and the last day still buffet. It make me sick. My friends bought the package from Regal or something I can't remember, they stayed at inter-continental hotel and the last night they went Hard Rock for dinner!! You can see the different or not? Good hotel good food.

So guys next time when you wanna travel in group please ask in details whether the hotel is LOCAL or INTERNATIONAL 3-star or 4-star, this is a tricky part.

But overall it was a pleasant trip.

Tour agency : Parlo Tours
Service : good
Tour guide : good ; Egyptian tour guide : so-so
Hotel : local egyptian hotel; 3-star; service not good; not much room facilities
Food : still ok, but can't stand the roasted pigeon and the salty rice

Hi,

I booked for hotel for my Bangkok trip with PYO Travel during MATTA fair and the sales person actually told me I should get my confirmation voucher in 2 days time. However I still haven't got my confirmation slip even after 2 weeks. When I tried to call them, I will be direct to to call center but nobody pick up the phone.

My trip is only in early next year but I hope to settle everything now, but I'm worried why no one pick up the call, eventhough continuos calling for a few days. Hope they're not closed down or anything liao..cause we paid full sad.gif

Anyone have the same prob with me?

Yeah, booking via PYO always no reply one esp if u email or call them!! They are something like Air Asia...U try to call no one pick-up & after sale almost zero! But they are cheap...I was also scare after booked wth them my Hanoi trip early this year & numerous times called them but no one answer...But I did received their confirmation within 2 week.

Nevertheless they are reliable as my trip to Hanoi went on smoothly and my package of RM770/pax is actually equivalent to Reliance RM1700/pax package as another group on same AA plane using the same package as us but diff M'sia agent/price thumbup.gif

Finally, I found this information about PYOtravel. I am watching and thinking of either booking with them or with whygoholiday.com (cheaper for certain hotels) booking online for hotel rooms. From the web when you book, if you do read those print on payment, you are actually paying to Reliance travel agent through a local bank

well i know how u feel coz i work in travel agency.. i duno how other agency works but sometimes customer book in advance and if possible want to get everything settled earlier.. however there might be delays in confirmation due to hotel reply late to ground operator or peak season or any other reason.

Ya, actually I'm not really in a hurrysince my travel is next year, but their call services really makes me worried... What if I still didn't get my confirmation by that time and still unable to call them? rclxub.gif

why so early confirm everything? still 3 months before you for the trip? Nowaday alot tricky conman exists...

Just take it as lesson, and hope the bad thing never happen... gd luck unsure.gif

I heard PYO is part of Reliance Travel. But they operate independent of each other.

So not to worry. They should be quite reliable. Of course you got to discount the occasional screw ups.
We are all humans after all mah. Especially you book during Matta Fair!

I would call up on the weekdays and also get the person who served you.

I'd ordered a Bali 4D3N trip from one of the travel agency in matta fair last september. I placed half the payment for two person on that day.

After that, all your typical worst stories with travel agency happened.... No follow up, no service after full payment, irresponsible customer service, lots of empty promises, the person you encounter has resigned, receive travel documents very last minute with alots of ridiculos error on it, ex: wrongly stated vegetarian, wrong sexuality....whatever you can think of.

It took me more than 5 calls, alot phone yelling and more than 2 weeks to finally get everything done, thanks to their excellent business minded and service attitude.

No reply at all after i came back from the trip and file a complaint to their management!!!!

I think MATTA should perform better quality control on choosing their participants, not just appear as another big camp of lousy money suckers.

You want the name of the lousy money-sucking travel agency i'm talking about? You have it -->

Thanks for the warning firsthand. That's the worse case scenario that can give everyone a headache and this type of Travel agency should just either get a new bunch of people trained properly first before letting them serving the customers or just shut down their services. I agree with you there about the MATTA performing a better quality control if they expect a better number of people coming in for the fair... Imagine because this type of services everywhere, they will just swat flies all the way...

After we bought this package, this travel agency never tell us about the our villa booked going to change, but in very last minute (2 week before, some more we have to call them only we know about this.)

After we make full payment, we gonna give fews call only the travel agency to provide the travel receipt. The travel receipt they provide always have mistake, they have modify and modify again! Disappointed with their service.

That day we want to depature to Bali only we know that the hotel we booked already changed, before that we doesnt get any inform from this travel agency. The local guide from Bali told us about this.

The local guide really sucks, always change the itinerary himself ends up, we dint manage to go serveral places that stated. The restaurant that we brings us go always no people visit, some more the food really sucks.. not nice... So ends up we dint manage to eat the delicious food at Bali at all.

In our package, we have a free tour in Bali but the local guide told us that it will be chargable by them. Luckily we have evidence to proof that is a free tour in our package. This shows that the bali travel agency doenst have well communication with the travel agency in malaysia.

service not bad.. they followed up well. I wanted to book myself on an existing online booking made earlier and they followed up via telephone. that was 2 yrs back..

Currently they selling hong kong and taipei very cheap, additional MYR1 for tours. Dunno worth or not.

I usually make all my travel arrangements personall. But there was one time I had to use an agent to gain access to Oman Air since their online platform was a bit buggy. I dealt with MIVS Travel (this was in Penang). Being a company that usally handles corporate clients, their ppl are very responsive, prompt with emails and follow ups. All in all it was a very pleasant and professional experience.

I've also heard a lot of good things about MSL Travel, from close friends, though I have never used their services personally.

This summer, I've booked my flight from London to Malaysia using Emerald Travel (London).
I had to use them as they are appointed by my company.

The person who served me was Ms Bobbie and Ms Hassan.
Before I booked, I asked them about flight's checked in baggage allowance and to compare between Egyptair (requires transit but offer 23kg +23kg)and MAS.
I asked them if MAS still offer GRAD card for student ( I was still a student at the point of time), she said no, because MAS has increased baggage allowance from 20kg to
30kg. Anyway, I still ended up with MAS due to shorter travel time.
When I checked in at the London Airport, I was humiliated by this MAS staff, MR Lim, as he justified that every student should be intelligent to apply for Grad card before travel and so any extra kgs will be charged. I explained to him that I received conflicting information from my travel agent. He shrugged off saying' he doesn't want to argue.'
So upon arrival in Malaysia, I emailed MS Bobbie and Ms Hassan From Emerald Travel Ltd about my experience. THEY REFUSE TO OWN UP THEIR MISTAKE.
What's more ridiculous is MS BOBBIE COULDN'T RECALL ANYTHING ABOUT MY ENQUIRY and the company has no phone record or what so ever. (REALLY?)
And only when I asked for compensation, then MS BOBBIE or EMERALD TRAVEL LTD bothered to find the information to point out that I was too late to apply for one at that time.
