I would like to share some goodies with all guinea pig owners. Feeding a balanced fresh diet rich in natural Vitamin C has shown what a difference a proper diet can make.

Providing our guinea pigs with a good quality commercial staple mix and hay is insufficient as a balanced fresh diet plays a vital role too. I have long discovered that it is not easy for guinea pig lovers who own only 1 or 2 guinea pigs to buy a whole lot of fruits and vegetables, especially in light of our weather where fruits and vegetables are unable to last long.

Therefore, I have come up with this Uncle Taro’s Cavia-Smoothie, which will make life easier for all guinea pig lovers. One enormous benefit of the Cavia-Smoothie is that the guinea pig will not be able to pick and choose according to his fancy, ensuring that all necessary nutrition is consumed. Every tub of Uncle Taro’s Cavia-Smoothie contains 8 varieties of fresh vegetables and fruits which are naturally high in Vitamin C, as well as grains and protein.

Feeding Uncle Taro’s Cavia-Smoothie is amazingly simple. All we need to do is:- keep the mix in the freezer, scrape required amount into their bowl and let melt for 5 minutes before serving.

The basic feeding amounts are as follows: (although you can feed as much as your guinea pig can eat)

Piglet - 2 tablespoons per meal
Adult - 3 tablespoons per meal

If there are any uneaten portions, they are to be thrown out the next day.

Uncle Taro’s Cavia-Smoothie has NO added sugar, NO preservatives and NO added color.

In order to encourage more guinea pig owners to feed a Balanced Fresh Diet to their Guinea Pigs, Uncle Taro will give away 20 sample containers to LYN members. YES! IT’S FREE! It’s on a First Come First Serve basis. Samples are now available in PET SHACK, Sunway. Please visit www.petshack.com.my to get directions.

All you have to do is walk into PET SHACK, shout out your LYN ID and get your free Uncle Taro’s Cavia-Smoothie. It’s that simple! Please remember that this is only whilst stocks last so do hurry!

In order to give everyone an opportunity to try, only 1 member ID can get 1 sample, and you have to show your OWN FACE. No tumpang ok?

Hope you all will enjoy your Uncle Taro’s Cavia-Smoothie.

p/s: all Uncle Taro’s Cavia-Smoothie are human consumable.

Wah..I got 5 dogs at home, none of my dogs attack my GPs, in fact they usually helped me to find my hamsters and GPs when they escaped. Must train your cat to be friendly to your small animal lah...

Oo..may be that is not your cat...is it because you put your cage outdoor?

I want to put my GPs outdoor, but really scared the stray cat comes and attack my GPs too...my sister did put her rabbit cage outside, the stray cat came and pulled the rabbit leg till the body torn apart stucked in between the cage frame, so gross.... Lesson learned even put in a secured cage outdoor doesn't guarantee your small animals are safe from stray cat.

bonai, GP use bedding also rite? I'm still thinking, either using wood shaving or Breeder Celect as I still have both extra... so can use very~~~ long.. LOL
I just wan to focus on finding the cage 1st... when cage settle then I think I will proceed to the bedding.

Btw, If use floor mate... have to use bedding also? or just the floor mate is enough? as for Petshack they just provide the floor mate right?

Here is my cage set up, I don't use bedding any more. But under the floor mate I have another layer of plastic based (which dog cage use plastic based), this is to prevent my GPs stepped on their pee & poo. Like this kind of set-up I clean my cage every 3 days. Much more economical then using beddings. And partly because my GPs are majority long fur, like this their fur won't dip into the pee too.

if ur GP don't eat u can mix in with Nutri-Smoothie, let hammi finished it. but hNutri-Smoothie canot feed Guinea pig smile.gif also canot purely feed hammi with Cavia-Smoothie, cos its not a hamster balance smoothie. its Cavy balance smile.gif both are difference in the fresh potion smile.gif

My GP Home set-up is also similiar to JuzTiny or Rumizu.

I put coroplast, follow by newspapers (3 layers) and last put toilet mat so Boru wont chew on the paper while allowing his poo to drop under the toilet mat. I only use Breeder Celect + shredded newspapers in his toilet tray to absorb urine. Clean the cage every Thurs and Sunday.

EMERGENCY NEWS~

I saw a cute piggy at a pet store ... drool.gif

.......

cant help it but have to adopt the 4weeks+ old small pig back. tongue.gif rclxms.gif

as a total beginner, i NEED LYN Sifu to guide me icon_question.gif and i will do my own homework of course icon_rolleyes.gif to help this ltl fella to find a new home.

my current setup is the normal toyogo box ( 40cm X 20cm X 18cm ) . It's bedding is newspaper covered with wood shed(normal hammie bed). ( ADVICE PLS )

I place a small box for she to hide coz she really afraid of ppl. Since stress is kinda hazardous to them, so I plan to leave her for a day ( ADVICE PLS )

For her food, i prepare to feed the 1mth+ piggy with vege such as cucumber and carrot ( ADVICE PLS ) ... I'm not sure about pellet since the pet shop doesn't have a specialize pellet and it doesn't generate confidence it me, hence I need Lyn members to suggest or make buz from me pls. ( ADVICE PLS )

I placed a water cap as for the drinking process or a water bottle is preferable? ( ADVICE PLS )

I will post her picture tomoro with the setup. Kindly advise me thru this thread or pm.

What is a Toyogo box? if its a plastic container then I suggest you better change it, NO plastic containers are recommended as it has very bad air ventilation. Check here for example of good cages http://www.guineapigcages.com/index.htm. Woodshed musn't be pine based as it may cause breathing problems and some are toxic to them.

Small box is fine I guess but what type of box ur using? Some box may be hazardous to them & yes do leave them alone for a day or two but of course still feed them la.

NEVER feed the baby piggy with too much cucumber or carrot or cause it may cause diarrhea. Their main diet would always be HAY. For baby piggies below 4months old must be fed with UNLIMITED Alfafa Hay cause they need all the protein they can get. A good brand to consider is Oxbow. Once they are older then you may start feeding them with Timothy or Oat Hay. Fresh fruits and vege must be serve in moderate proportion e.g a small cubes or stripes of carrots and apples.

Don't use water cap!! a water bottle is always the best in order to avoid contamination which may make ur gp ill!!!

I suggest you should had make more research and readup before purchasing it but its a lil too late already. Always remember never budget when owning a pet. Give them the best.

Add on: Do lots of reading in this forum http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/index.php or ask around in lowyat forum. Read Common Misconceptions about Guinea Pigs and their Care as well http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/specia...their-care.html

Toyogo box is way too small for your GP when it is fully grown up.

It is best to combine both pellets and fresh veg diet.

It is best to use water feeder bottle, more hygenic. 150ml if possible.

Oh yea the water also musnt be those chaplang tap water. Always give them boiled filtered waters or else they are gonna have stones in the future. Operation is gonna cause more than a basic water filter. Take good care of ur GP & PICTURES PLS!! laugh.gif
