It would. DVD was like that too. BD would drop even faster than DVD because of alternatives of getting HD like downloading mkv files and playing on WDTV.

It would be economically unviable to buy a Bluray player now as the discs are so expensive and not worth it.

I would say, in 3 to 5 years time, BD would become mainstream. I would then buy one. For now, if I want HD stuff, I rather download and save it into USB and play it straight.

Only Msia big conjob. Overseas BD players are so dirt cheap that people don't even think twice before buying one. The Sony BD350 is now 89 pounds lah. Here, still in the thousands.

Msians should just boycott and not buy at all. Those who buy BD are just feeding the crooks to keep the prices high.

BD is the mainstream now. those HD stuffs you mentioned, it doesnt have HD audio plus its not legit. so its not a straight comparison.

I think the BD players in Msia are available at a good price nowadays. comparable with the european/north american pricing...with the exchange rate taken into consideration of course.

by the way, probably have noticed that the BD60 is around RM1000-1200 now....that's only RM500 x2-2.4

Added on June 29, 2009, 1:08 pmaiman....your point 1 to 6.....#5 probably the biggest challenge

...on the bright side, she's sensible...hehe...

for the time being...enjoy your bdp. at least you have a new toy in case you're given the cold shoulder for the time being

as for the shoes and bags analogy...better not go into that direction.....you're gonna get it worse.

My HM is probably the same as yours. She will never understand why I need a dedicated BD player when I already have PS3. Therefore I have not invested in one yet.

And I don't have another RM2.6k to spend on her! Peasant like me.  cry.gif

can always opt for 1k + bdp.......easier to get away with bluff like..."but its only RM800!!"
