QUOTE(arremie @ Aug 28 2008, 06:37 PM) How to use SPL meter? Looks interesting. Any guide around? I want to get one from ebay leh...20 bucks only first... u go to ur receiver and turn the master volume to 0db.. then u enter ur avr menu, then go to manual setup, then go to basic setup, then go turn on ur test tone. after that enter the sp level menu in ur avr. ok now go to the SPL meter and turn the dial to 70, after that... go to ur viewing spot and either point the mic upwards or aim it directly to the speaker (i prefer to aim it upwards as my ears are staticly positioned when watching movies/etc) ok.. now turn the sp level of ur speaker up/down until the meter reads 75db.. then without moving the position of the spl meter, move on the the next speaker and do the same.. rinse repeat till all speakers inc the sub is calibrated to the 75db, u can make ur sub to do 80db though (mine is at 80) after that... DOne~ ohh turn of all EQ/drc/etc settings and make sure the speaker distance is all correct before u start..

QUOTE(fentanyl @ Aug 28 2008, 06:28 PM) Active sub has built-in amplifier so needs seperate power supply. Ok thanks, i notice that the catalogues (Misson M3as, Wharfedale SW150) say they have a certain amplified power. So from that, its a active sub. Do ppl actually use passive subs? Any example of cheap passive sub, good passive sub?

I've downloaded the manual from their website last week, just gave it a quick read as generally not too much different to my old receiver.
