i don't think you'll go far wrong with your shortlist...all reputable subs.

you might want to think about warranty, etc.

all 3 subs are from reputable manufacturers.
reviews are only good to support your choices, only if you've already have 80% confirming the purchase items.
otherwise, by reading the reviews, for me I'd prefer to audition them before hand before reading any reviews.

I've only auditioned Velodyne and Klipsch. I find that the Velo does seem vicious "as someone mentioned it before in few post back", but i think the klipsch tend to have better control overall, and blends well with the other speakers.
I have not made my final decision yet too.. perhaps you can also share your opinion when u've audition them all..

Cheers.

The problem is that there are only 1 or 2 shops that sell hi-fi and home theater equipments in Miri and both only have a handful of subs around if any. I cannot audition the Klipsch because there is no dealer in Miri. The CHT-12Q also only on order basis. I might be able to listen to REL T1 once i got back from offshore, but there is no way i can do a comparison between the 3.

hsiengloong,
I think there's 1 forumer who is going the lows with paradigm.
I personally never auditioned them before. If you wanna have your picture frames to drop out from their pin nails, the Velo should do the job. Listen to a few and you'll probably find the one you need.
If you're in KL it should not be a problem, as there are plenty of shops you can visit.

Lightning,
I understand that it's hard to make a choice, but if the REL gives you what you're looking for, then go for it. Else AirAsia, come down KL lo ...

Nvm...i will go try out the REL T1 first. It's got some very interesting features or rather technology that is just so unique. Even the looks is so different. The dual connection...one for LFE and the other for high level input for direct connection to amplier with volume control for each input is really interesting.

Thank you htkaki.

Looks like the REL T1 is more of a music sub than a HT sub. I wonder if the 10" active super long throw driver with the passive driver can go really loud or not?

For what I know size & power play a very imp factor in sub performance. If space is no problem go for the biggest u can afford, or go for the biggest powered sub which is usually size smaller & of the sealed type. Good for music too.

As for me I go for the biggest size so I am only interested in 15" sub. But unfortunately the current Paradigm 3400 sub I own is only size 14" so I am itchy to try out a 15" just to hear how big a BOOOM it give a 15" can give.

And of cause the question of money! Rather money not enough! blush.gif Just my humble opinion.

10R is about 2k or less. 10Q is around 2.3k and yes go for bigger sub if you can afford. Its not about how loud it can goes but how low. Cap ayam can also shattered your windows with full blast but all you hear is noise...not bass tongue.gif

One thing I notice about the REL T1 is that is has twin 10" driver...one active downward firing and a passive forward firing. I can understand that the active one is powered by the internal 300w high current amp but what about the passive one. Is the Passive forward firing driver just a piece of rubber driven by the energy of the active driver or is it a driver driven by the power of the main AV receiver that is connected to the high level input of the T1?

Passive driver is not driven by the power of the main receiver. It is sort push and pull tech. It is driven by 'moving air' of the active woofer. It is not a new technology. My front speakers are using a 10" passive woofers. The other 10" woofers driven by amp.
