Thank you for the feedback, two clarifications:

Versions based on K2.6 are TeddyBear version with RAF mods only affects to IP/MAC limiter, As already stated in linksysinfo.org WRT54GL is an old unit to handle K2.6 kernel, Bandwidth is poor with K2.6 ... but people asked to shift to K2.6

Version 1.28.121006 is based in the previous RAF version updated, so, I appreciate your comment, this version is based in 2.4.20 kernel, then the CPU usage is more reasonable and more convinient for heavy P2P.

Show the top process and P2P values (conntrack_ct) in your router to fix your statement about 'extremely unstable', then you can help in a more positive way nod.gif , but I'm sure Tomato RAF 1.28.121006 is the right version for you.

Hi Victek, thanks for the reply!

Just to clarify, I've had this issue on both kernels 2.4 and 2.6 (And on the Kernel24 version of TeddyBear mod when I had tried it ages ago).

Tomato RAF 1.28.8515 ND. Standard version for WRT54GL and non USB routers.
Tomato RAF 1.28.8615 ND. Standard version for WRT54GL and non USB routers.
Tomato RAF 1.28.8625 ND + VPN. VPN version for WRT54GL and non USB routers. (NO CIFS)

I'm pretty sure it's TeddyBear mod being unable to handle the 1000? or so concurrent connections.

Also, my buddy has the WRT54GS, he's currently running on 1.25.8515.2. Would he be ok to upgrade to 1.28.121006 as well?

EDIT2: It's not specific to my router (I don't think) the same issues ensued on a ASUS WL-520GU.

I don't think so... TB is doing a good job in USB releases, might be he forgot something about conntrack but I don't think so...

Sure, it's a right decision, even more estable than 8515.2 ...

Without USB? ... Why? ... anyway, it's your beer ...

Then I would recommend you Tomato_RAF_1.28.121006 very, very stable w/o USB and VPN but.. your router has plenty of capacity to run Tomato-RAF-1.28.8525_VPN.7z (with USB (Samba, Printer Server, FTP, DLNA & VPN)), .. CPU is faster than WRT54GL..

Hi

Realy love Victek's mod of tomato.
Have an Asus WL-500Gp v1 with 1.28.8520 RAF ND USB VPN
wl0_corerev =9, so i use the ND version, is this right cause I don't understand the 7or9.....

I have also the Asus WL-500Gx (G Deluxe) and like a Victek mod with USB also on this one.
wl0_corerev =5 so I need the non ND.
I've searched a bit and think I need the 1.23 but cannot find it anywhere anymore.

Is it true and do I need the old 1.23? and where can I get it?

Thanks Dirk

Here's 1.25, however I'm not sure it has what you're looking for.

Thanks for the reply

If I'm not mistaken the 1.25 hasn't got the usb feature.
There is a 1.23 that has (don't know if there's a non ND) but I have only got the ND version of it as I have used it on the WL-500 Gp (worked great)
I'm looking for tomato firmware for the WL-500Gx with TeaddyBear usb (the Gx has 2usb outside and 2 inside) and I realy like the Victek IP/Mac BW Limiter.
Version 1.28 would be great but I don't think there's a non ND version that is suitable for the Gx?
Is there something out there or am I looking for something that doesn't exist?

I really love the Tomato DualWAN firmware
Link: http://www.dualwan.cn/index.php

Flash my Asus RT-N16 with it. Able to do load balancing with advanced QOS load balance distribution system. smile.gif

Both my WAN connection equally distributed. Running Transmission Optware on the router as well... icon_rolleyes.gif

can anyone enlighten me on the "Efficient Multicast Forwarding" (located on Advanced->Routing page) firmware with kernel 2.6.

all i get is this description from broadcom: "this module does the efficient layer 2 forwarding of multicast streams, i.e., forward the streams only on to the ports that have corresponding group members there by reducing the bandwidth utilization and latency"

well i did some reading on "ip multicast" and it seems like for the use of just one router and 7 users sharing the same internet, this feature does not need to be enabled right?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

pardon my ignorance too, but i've notice there's this new "WAN (vlan1)" tab in the bandwidth graphs too.

You can flash with Tomato RAF 1.28.121006 (standar with kernel 2.4.20) .. but please try also 1.28.8618 (kernel 2.6 Mipsr1)
