totally agree with htkaki, i sat in the car, then came out, sounds like shit, maybe you have to drive the car with the background noise and engine noise then the arrows will sound better..

other than that , the susano also sucks, but the amps looks really huge. so big that i think i cannot carry it..

sonus faber setup was also pretty poor. sounded too boomy, opera tibaldi. is ok..

best sound i think avalon acoustics and cmy usher audio. there is also one company that sells high end transport cd players, nothing to listen but just to look at only.

vienna acoustics was good, and sweedish statement. was ok also. no naim speakers this year, but everyone promote on blueray.

it is like every year ritual for me visiting the ls3/5a club, never leave the room when im in it. listen and listen.. just so soothing. others are like. loud, thump. boom.. my ears cant take too much of it, but LS3/5A, i just cant move, reluctant to move on...

but give other ppl a chance to listen also lah. the room not big enough for him. every year keep adding amps. mana ada tempat. next time only one person can come in.

probably i will be one ls3/5a kaki next time. but i realised those kaki are usually with grey hair. maybe i need to have more grey hair to play ls3/5a

Ya,Ls3/5a is the legendary spk which play very well esp in vocal only. It match well only with valve amp,so far no solid state amp can go well then valve amp to macth with it,if not mistaken, hehe(cos i'm no more in high end audio liaw) .Another bookshelf spk i remembered would be ProAc tablet, more all rounder with sweet vocal too.Epos and Sonus Faber also doing well in bookshelf but if for vocal only, still cant beat 3/5a or ProAc smile.gif

Added on July 27, 2008, 1:21 pmthere is one company that i really wanna complain, really misleading  advertising. desa home theater.
i ask about the pricing. it seems that u got to get the coupon, or if you are luckily draw with the coupon, then only you get the discount. if not u pay full price. dammed.

also i think this year the entrance give is getting more kiam siap, i think the company cut cost, only ada air minum. other than that i cant even get a pen, last year i got a pen. maybe next year air also tak ada. just pay 10 bucks and go in. what the heck.
long long time ago. got free cd, t shirt,. all sorts of things. nowadays nothing man.

I have checked with Mr. Foong of Norman Audio, the price of KAV400xi is now RM9K instead of RM11K, need to tight my belt now to save money for this powerful amp to pair with my speakers.

I went to the show around 1pm yesterday til 4pm , manage to buy few CDs, such as The famous sound of three blind mice Vol. 1, Patricia Barber - Nightclub, Mary Black - No frontiers, some chinese audiophile LPCDs, etc.

They offered you at exactly RM9k for the 400xi?

Compct 7ES about 7-8k. On demo is Super HL5 about 9-10k.
price depanding on which cabinet materials.

will be driving it my diy valve amp KT88 in triode mode with Rega Apollo CD Player.

Previously i have a pair of rosewood ls3/5a but i decided to sell it but a little reluctant to do so. i thought all this while i able to survive with vocal music only.

my ideal setup :
Rega Apollo CD Player->Passive Pre-Amp->Valve Amp->Harbeth Compact 7ES Spk.

next,
Naim Nait 5i version 2 ~ for country rock music.

i almost there, then probably i'll settle down with these setup for the next 10 years.

This setup is really good. The Dragon Tiger Gate also a worth to mention setup. The AQ from the setup is wonderful.

The Transformer demo is a bit of letdown in terms of AQ. I think it is Mirage with Onkyo combi, right?

They told me the price around RM 9K and asked me further refer to their dealer, Hi-way laser, but i did not ask further. They told me the price stays on even after the AV show, so can check later.

Agree, i like Harberth setup too, reluctant to leave the room after listening such natural, transparent music.

Regretably with Sonus Faber Stradivari speakers sound too boomy until my ears couldn't stand it, mostly wrong setup.

As we attend more of such event, the diminishing factors just pops in.

compared to say...PC fair... dealers give huge discount simply becoz buyers are many! But on the recent av show, dealers very conservative in giving discount! As the quantity is relatively small...

Someone in other forum complaining why Malaysians got to pay high price for AV components compared to those in US...even though most AV stuffs are made locally! For examplebrand such as Yammy and Onky and many brands of speakers are all made locally!

The answer simply becoz our distributor cant move these AV stocks as fast as those in the states! So, they cant give similar discount like them from overseas! Even Singapore AV market is selling lower than us!

I think tax is another factor as well as the margin (profit). If the factory is under LMW status, then anything to be sold locally are subject to tax.

Only a few brands that command very high price compare to Singapore. Onkyo and Denon are very fine example.

went there...btw - did mediaplex has a huge booth there? didnt seem to find them. last av shows they conquered most of the space i think

bought these:

senheiser earphone - rm40 - good product - from mediaplex

dvd player hdmi upscale 1080p player - model phillips 5996k or something...rm369 from desa...with free Giraffe hdmi cable 2m... ok or not? just did some tweaking and quite happy with the pic linked to my hd65...but stick it only to 720p since my pj's native is 720p...cant really see any major difference when i change to 1080p...any comments?

actually wanted a hdmi pioneer but there one's left were over rm500...no budget for that...

and one retailer sell hd65 for more than rm4k there...haha...so Lyn-ers, better stick to htkaki fellas!

so yeah...in total now i'm like rm400 poorer...but hope it's all worth it...

oh...another weird finding...last year's av they sold the infocus 4805 for rm2500...this year the price went up to rm2800...how silly..hmmm

over to you guys!
