Why bother to go for certification exams while you can fake one?

Recently my boss just bumped into a info sec company that claimed to be the premier information security provider in Asia.
And surprisingly most of their 'CONsultants' were exposed to carrying fake certs...

Does any one know them?

hi, anyone know about CTFL?

What is the difficulty to get this certification?

And what is the career prospect for obtaining this certification?

Isn't a bad cert to take but not too recognized in the local market I guess. Why not get on the CCIE track instead? smile.gif

Yep. That would be more towards security. The local demand for network security jobs normally are normally higher compared to other networking specializations. If you have some exposure to security stuff (e.g. Firewall/IDS/IPS/SIEM/NAC), CEH should be good for you. Probably work towards CISSP too, if you want to set the bar higher for yourself smile.gif

I'm planning to get the CCNA weekend class soon. Any great suggestion for the training centre + cheapest fees as well? Thanks.

What is the best study kit at the moment?

Easy to understand and the best learning center?

Please advice sifus.

Hi all,

Current CCNA holder, currently working on my CCNP, just passed SWITCHING.

I'm thinking off branching out from ROUTING\SWITCHING into something else instead.

Just want to ask what's best to choose from in terms of market value based on local market?

Security or Voice?

Thanks all.

Would be best if you complete your ROUTE and TSHOOT first before moving forward. Security is a lot easier to get into compared to voice since you already have basic data networking knowledge with CCNA. Best to work towards the voice track if you work with a Cisco Silver/Gold partner as well since most of the voice projects in Malaysia are usually 'sapu-ed' by them biggrin.gif I would say getting into pure voice (fresh) is a lot harder, but not impossible. Building your own voice lab would probably be the first step. Cost of hardware can be quite pricey though.

For security certifications, I would probably take Checkpoint/Juniper over Cisco anytime, although you can't go wrong with having all 3. Good to focus on a certification which you have experience in as it justifies a lot more value for yourself than just having a paper cert and theoretical knowledge. If you happen to work with other vendors (Watchguard/SourceFire/Fortinet/Sophos) etc. probably CISSP/CEH would be a better to work towards to since it's a more general security certification for techies.

Not tough at all if you grasp all concepts right. If you can relate everyday networking concepts back to the OSI layer at the end of the day, you should not have a problem.

For books, try the CCNA study guide from Todd Lammle. Good stuff smile.gif

Learning centers : Iverson or Global Knowledge

I'm quite boring and tired of playing pc games for the past two weeks ... time to take another certifications while looking for a job. My preferred examination:

1) ITIL Foundation v2011
2) CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Associate)

I choose ITIL and CWNA as the book plus the exam only will cost me below RM 1000. The books are also currently available in the local bookstores so no headache to find the resources and doesn't need to order from overseas.

I believed I could take it within 1 month of full time self study before I proceed to take my master which will cost me my weekend social life.

Previously I've aimed to take the CCNA but have to stop midway. The reason I've to dumped CCNA exam even after studying for 2 months is because after doing some calculations, there's another certifications that I need to retake in the future that would cost me a total 4-5 digits moneyflies.gif moneyflies.gif moneyflies.gif . Second reason is I try to avoid product based certifications as I prefer to gain general knowledge that I can use for my future PhD and IT jobs. For security certifications, once I enroll in my master courses, I'll have an opportunities to take a lot of certifications with a great discounts icon_idea.gif ... so, should not be a problem. Which one would you value more between those two certifications? hmm.gif

Thank you for your feedback notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
