Fellow E71 users,

Have been using this device for sometime already - have some qualms bout this platform:

1. Lacks copy function in non-editing mode. For eg, when viewing email or browsing web.

2. No network base file explorers

3. Mail For Exchange - lack of flexibility and features.

If anyone can help shed some light on the above mentioned, I would really appreciate it.
*
E61i user here(still dreaming for E71).

1) It's Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V * Just noticed its for mail and web, nvm.

2) I think there are software for it because preciously my 6280 (S40) have a software called moby something with FTP explorer support. Hardly use due to lack of WiFi.

Hope this helps.
Cheers.

The rumored e72 looks a lot like the e71. Maybe its actually the same phone, just add other colors, red and black, and add xtra feature like an accelerometer. But the e75 is a totally diff creature. I'll just have to hold my purchase of the e71 then, just in case the rumors are true.

the internet radio is super cool man. I can now listen to all these fav stations that i like anytime anywhere. But it would hv been fantastic if i can listen to it thru loud speaker as well. cos the stock earphones are just cumbersome to use cos i hate wires!!!

Added on September 21, 2008, 12:00 amy can't i view any youtube videos on my phone??? It will automatically open the real player, but then, prompts server connection time out. So annoying. Is there something wrong with my phone??

Also, the internet radio keeps buffering every 30 seconds or so... My goodness, how to listen to songs la like tat??

Added on September 21, 2008, 12:09 amhaha... So silly of me. I can just unplug my earphones and i'm playing the internet radio on speaker ad. Hahaha...

rest assured tat it is not yr fone. it is becoz of the 3g services, they r not up to par. my maxis 3g service sucks sad.gif the connection times out often, in particular, weak signal areas. wat to do, in a country where "everything boleh", like dat one ler.

i hv similar issues with realplayer when i try to view utube. u shud try mobitubia. it's better for watching utube on the fone. im using it on my e71.

the default e71 earphone is good for voice calls only. for music, it is horrid. i wud recommend tat u get a 2.5mm to 3.5mm audio jack and a reasonable earphone to enjoy yr mp3 collection better. do note that sound quality for utube is inferior. internet radio stations, depending on the bitrate they are streaming, can be awful when heard on a good earphone ... hehehe

... tried watching and downloading utube with realplayer this morning, connection is back to normal in my area, so no timed out.

Hi guys

I have been using my E71 for almost 10 days now and I absolutely LOVE IT. Great design and UI. However I have encountered a problem when using Maybank M2U Mobile application. When I want to transfer funds on Maybank M2U Mobile I cant input the decimal point. Example:

Lets say I want to transfer 84.50 from my SA to CA. I can only input 84. When I want to input the decimal point using the QWERTY keypad, there is no response. I tried bringing up the hidden symbols by pressing the CTRL key but also no reeponse.

Am I missing something here? Any other short cuts to input the decimal point?

Hope u guys can help.

Regards

To input decimal, you must deactivate the numbers by pressing the num lock (the white key at bottom left).

I believe the num lock key u mentioned is also the Function key as stated in the manual. It has an arrow tip symbol pointing north east. When inputting numbers I will press and hold the function (also the num lock key as u mentioned) and press the corresponding numeric keys (which are all located in the middle area of the keypad). After this is done I will realese the function key.

So what should I do next in order to input the decimal point?

TQ

Here's the free audio book reader workable on the e71:

Nokia Audio Book Reader
Nice gui, optimised for 320 x240, but only play amr-wb codec. The Nokia Audio Book Manager is available for download at the same link, this is installed on yr pc/notebook to convert yr audio books to amr-wb for transfer to your e71

Nokia Audio Book Reader

If you do not want to spend time on conversion and play yr audio books (mp3) direct, you can try the platysoft's Scheherazade. Works on the e71, the gui is bland but hey it works and it's free

Scheherazade

enjoy!

Hello all!

I just bought Nokia E71 recently and using a few days my E71 always overheat located at the camera. Because of this, the battery life lasts for 1 day without using WiFi, 3G, Web browsing and only use for calling / receiving.

Do you have this problem? Today I will send to Nokia Care Center for checking

Thanks.

Hi gaingene!

Ok, this E71 always get warm located at the camera lens and the battery life lasted for at least 1 day. Sometimes it can cause the whole E71 warm like boiling the water warm temperature until I cannot tahan put inside my pocket trouser.

Do you have this problem?

Thanks

the e71 does run warm when u are using wifi, gps, 3g etc, but it shud not be like hot boiling water.

the battery shud last u easily two-three days, if not more, for normal calls and music player usage.

in yr case, i suspect that you may have enable applications running in the background without u realising it. check to see that yr wifi, bluetooth, gps, gprs, edge, 3g are off when you dun need them as they drain yr battery.

good luck.

No, my E71 does not get that. My battery last for about 2-3 days. I think u might want to send your phone to a Nokia centre to have check. It looks like you may have a defective unit. Let us know the outcome.....Good luck!!

I already sent it to Nokia Care Center. Hopefully is the battery problem, if not the board!! The service center guy told me it might be short circuit and have to leave it there for checking.

Very unlucky to get this defective E71! cry.gif
